I used to have fries dying 1 at a time per day. It cont for a few days until suddenly 3-4 fries die in a day. Immediately i did 40% water change for the next 3 days & fed once a day. After that it went well...

I have no idea what happened. I always do 20% water change every 2 days & 50% water change during weekend.

I guess shit happens sometimes.

Yea.. Scared day. After that one incident have been rajin to change water thumbup.gif

Thanks for the tips  thumbup.gif  actually I feed them like 4 times a day. Not big quantity tho. Is it too much? For fry how often is recommended?
*
if you can, lower the quantity each time, feed as you wish, smaller quantity, up to 8 times in a day. this will promote their growth too.

but, who the heck is at home everyday to feed so often. lol.

i know right. but you're doing good there already biggrin.gif

local fish store. any fish shop out there should sell them.
dont need to visit pets more, kinda pricey imo.

also, if you are looking for beginner grade of pure strain guppies, can visit my sales thread as per my signature below. will give you extra for free.

this is dropsy. it's like cancer kind of disease in guppies.

too bad, i normally don't treat them, 99% cant be treated. if lucky, may still live for up to 2 weeks or so.

Edit: in addition, she has some internal parasites in her that causes indigestion, see the long white poop? sign of unhealthy poop.

What kind of fish food and brands u feed to your fishes? Can use garlic for treating parasites?
*
well, speaking of fish food, there are a variety of food that you can feed, the most basic is hikari fancy pallet (you can get from most LFS), some other brands of fish food like tetra, ocean free, etc. you can also feed decapsulated brine shrimp (no hatching needed type), microworm, bloodworm and artemia brine shrimp (self hatch). these are some fish food that you can feed.

I personally use hikari, 日清 pallet, tetra flakes, decapsulated brine shrimp and artemia brine shrimp (80% using this).

as for garlic treating parasites, i'm not too sure, never tried it though. there is a kind of internal parasite meds that you can buy to treat the parasits (i seldom use). the key to healthy guppies are frequent water change, this would prevent parasites, etc.

hope this helps.

any possible reason for that cancer type disease?.im only feeding tetra bit complete..is it because the food to big for their mouth?.so they just gulp it in instead of chewing first?..

EDIT: possible reason
-Poor water quality
-Ammonia or nitrite spikes
-Large drop in water temperature
-Stress from transportation
-Improper nutrition
-Aggressive tankmates
-Other diseases

mainly is due to the water condition and temperature swing that causes it. i suggest you can use hikari fancy guppies =)

those other reasons you state above could be correct too.

if i have more guppies i would give them those..but already giving up keeping guppies..from like 20 or so (bought seperately) only left 2..some manage to breed..but now only left with 2..and 1 just catch dropsy..i tot keeping guppies is smooth and easy, but nope..maybe just keeping the one still living until the end of his life..

okay. your call. but guppies you bought from the LFS may be virus/bacteria carrier, they are normally not as healthy as those we purchase directly from the breeder.

Also, suggest you to keep guppies only tank. other fishes may attack them, as they are slower swimmer than other fishes.

UPDATE on my dropsy infected guppy..

well, im not sure what happen..basically, after i found out that the fish not in good condition,i immediately transfer it to my other tank, to be precise my blackwater tank(plan it for biotope)..it only have temporary cherry shirmps at the moment..i think everyone here know that tannin is basically good for fish right?.as i intended to do biotope, i only put ketapang leaves into it..probably from several month ago and add another leaves when the tannin seem abit clearer..so back to the story, later i just observed that my infected guppy scale slowly looking better than the picture above..seems like it back to normal with actively eating food, not staying silently on water surface and looking excited as i coming close to the tank..bear in mind i dont use any medication at all other than the tannin..

so, not sure if the fish got lucky with the infection, or the tannin that helps it recover..maybe this would be an alternative treatment for your guppy if it happen to be infected with dropsy.
