how exactly guppies give birth?..did saw a video where it gave birth for 10-20 fry in one time..
for my tank, not sure what the problem is, i only detect 1 fry..then around 2/3weeks found another 1 fry..is the fry being eaten by others?.or something else i dont know?. This post has been edited by usmanjailani: Dec 23 2015, 03:22 PM |

QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 18 2016, 02:34 PM) well, speaking of fish food, there are a variety of food that you can feed, the most basic is hikari fancy pallet (you can get from most LFS), some other brands of fish food like tetra, ocean free, etc. you can also feed decapsulated brine shrimp (no hatching needed type), microworm, bloodworm and artemia brine shrimp (self hatch). these are some fish food that you can feed. any possible reason for that cancer type disease?.im only feeding tetra bit complete..is it because the food to big for their mouth?.so they just gulp it in instead of chewing first?..I personally use hikari, 日清 pallet, tetra flakes, decapsulated brine shrimp and artemia brine shrimp (80% using this). as for garlic treating parasites, i'm not too sure, never tried it though. there is a kind of internal parasite meds that you can buy to treat the parasits (i seldom use). the key to healthy guppies are frequent water change, this would prevent parasites, etc. hope this helps. EDIT: possible reason -Poor water quality -Ammonia or nitrite spikes -Large drop in water temperature -Stress from transportation -Improper nutrition -Aggressive tankmates -Other diseases This post has been edited by usmanjailani: Oct 18 2016, 02:48 PM |

QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 18 2016, 02:57 PM) mainly is due to the water condition and temperature swing that causes it. i suggest you can use hikari fancy guppies =) if i have more guppies i would give them those..but already giving up keeping guppies..from like 20 or so (bought seperately) only left 2..some manage to breed..but now only left with 2..and 1 just catch dropsy..i tot keeping guppies is smooth and easy, but nope..maybe just keeping the one still living until the end of his life..those other reasons you state above could be correct too. |

QUOTE(usmanjailani @ Oct 18 2016, 09:20 AM) can anyone identify why is this happening?.only 2 female left in my tank. 1 is healthy 1 is bloated and her fin seem rough (as pic)..absolutely not pregnant since no male around for 4-5month..live in community tank with cherry barb, neon, molly otto etc.. well, im not sure what happen..basically, after i found out that the fish not in good condition,i immediately transfer it to my other tank, to be precise my blackwater tank(plan it for biotope)..it only have temporary cherry shirmps at the moment..i think everyone here know that tannin is basically good for fish right?.as i intended to do biotope, i only put ketapang leaves into it..probably from several month ago and add another leaves when the tannin seem abit clearer..so back to the story, later i just observed that my infected guppy scale slowly looking better than the picture above..seems like it back to normal with actively eating food, not staying silently on water surface and looking excited as i coming close to the tank..bear in mind i dont use any medication at all other than the tannin.. so, not sure if the fish got lucky with the infection, or the tannin that helps it recover..maybe this would be an alternative treatment for your guppy if it happen to be infected with dropsy. |

QUOTE(dp82 @ Oct 27 2016, 11:31 PM) QUOTE(davlee @ Oct 28 2016, 04:03 AM) QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 31 2016, 10:07 AM) wow, good news! hi guys..sorry for no update..unfortunately, she still dies.. can keep us posted please. but ketapang leaves, where to find? tannin from driftwood, does it work? we know tannin is good, but we often would try to remove the tannin as it may not be so good visually. for 3-4day after introduce in the tannin tank, the fish can hardly be seen with the symptom of dropsy..she ate well, active as normal etc..but after several days looking "normal", the stomach become big again, the scale look kasar like cat tongue..and later floating on the surface helplessly and died.. but still, anyone who have spare tank to try this treatment might do so since it do look promising for me..just hope for the best.. ketapang leaves can be found almost everywhere in malaysia if i'm not mistaken..prevoiusly i thought i need to buy it online, but then my landscape architect friend mention the tree is just nearby my house and after i know what it looks like, i just found out another tree here and there at the roadside while driving to office.. maybe you could try asking some nursery..who know they plant it infront of their gate for the shade.. |

QUOTE(-oc-gassa @ Oct 31 2016, 11:46 AM) Ketapang tree is actually very common in Malaysia... can be easily found... the tips is to find drop leaves then cure(simply hang dry) with sun for 1-2 days.. then can be use.... although the tree is here..but i'am very confuse on how to recognize Ketapang leaves..some IKEA plant leaves also look like Ketapang leaves...instead i buy Ketapang leave from Jalan Pasar @RM 2 per plastic bag(bunch of 10-15 leave) yup... the tannin effect might not be best tank view...still sometimes it feel like classic tank...haha QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 31 2016, 11:52 AM) yep..the first time im looking at brownish colour tank, it doesnt attract me at all..but after looking more into blackwater aquarium, i just fell in love...haha..for who wondering what is blackwater tank look like.. ![]() ![]() more question about this can be directed at the planted tank forum.. just trying to racun anyone hungry for something new in their house.. |
