Looks like service centre said that the noise I am hearing is normal... O.o
I guess I can learn to tune it out...

RM225 for my first service. Quite high actually, probably cause I went for 10K fully synthetic.

But honestly, I am pretty impressed at the power I am getting from the 1.6 CFE.
Tyres are pretty grippy too. But on the noisy side. Maybe change to something quieter later.

Anyone did sound proofing to mask the CVT and engine sounds? Probably voids warranty right?

i don't like Champiro BAX 2 at all. it's definitely not grippy as u said. push a bit into corners and it will scream and lose traction. very scary. plus two times i got bulging issue with this tyre. now changed to Bridgestone RE003 and I am a super happy driver thumbup.gif

greater grip on par with PS3, and it won't scream no matter how hard u pushed it. u feel very well planted no matter the speed. and it is more comfortable to ride than Champiro BAX 2, like rolling on a sponge! rclxm9.gif

Not too sure on the RM12,749 figure for the gearbox but I was informed (last month) that the gearbox of the Preve Turbo costs RM17k. Inspira's is RM23k.

For the gearbox, not sure if warranty is below 3 years or 5 years. You may check with the service centre during your next visit.
*
better change to inspira one if it's compatible tongue.gif
because Inspira's cvt uses torque converter instead of wet clutch. u will feel better response and perhaps no slip

me am still waiting for the TCU and manual 6-speed to be produced by proton and put it inside CFE. this engine performance is hampered by that Punch cvt shakehead.gif

Maybe I don't drive as fast as I think. But I've not heard the screech of the tyres.
And in all honesty, I've not heard of Champiro. I like the quiet Michelin Primacy 3ST.

How long does it take for the Champiro to loose its thread? 30K KM? 40K KM?

my 3st keep screeching when i floor pedal keluar roundabout, but traction never kicks in, mean it is grippy at least. If champiro, no screeching but traction keep kicks in everytime i do the same thing, meaning to say havent screech tire oledi buang.

i dont know it is good or not but ppl say if tire screech means the tire very sticky to the floor, else it wont even screech if there is no friction. just like u wear badminton shoes u try to screech it at the badminton court.

You don't have service discount vouchers? The higher price is likely due to the full synthetic engine oil you have opted for. Synthium 800 is sufficient for the Preve Turbo.

Power is certainly good due to the Turbo engine.

I've only got the traction lights lit up once on my car when accelerating from standstill. The ground is full of sand and there is little to no traction, and the tyres are just gliding against the sand with the car not moving forward, and that point the traction lights came up.

I have never managed to activated the traction lights in all my cars when driving around the bends or corners. Guess my driving is not wild enough to engage the traction or ESP control, whatever it is.

ohh ok, with my 3ST, i feel the transfer or power from engine to tire to the road is much better, becos it launches the car much faster, more responsive compare to BAX2. Meaning to say i tend to over pecut when at roundabout, where BAX2 Traction control kicks in way earlier that you will lose power becos car take over so u get control. If no TC, maybe with BAX2 car might be spinning already.

Yes, the bottleneck is very likely the CVT of the car. The Turbo engine of the Preve although a bit loud is powerful. The CVT makes the car less responsive (not so nice to drive) with a lag especially in stop go stop go traffic at low speed with many speed bumps in between.

not sure... at 30k km i still have around 30% thread before changed

when my tyre bulged, to save on tight budget i opt for used PS3, 50% thread. it grips on dry and rain but didn't scream when pushed as BAX2 did. BAX2 really scream and lose its traction.

i love PS3, it performs and comfort, but when I heard RE003 is on a promo price, i grab it. cheaper than PS3 almost RM400/piece for this size.

no matter what, bulging is serious and costly to your pocket. a tyre that can last long needs to change early because of bulging. i rather not risk it on BAX2. very bad tyre.

i spun BAX2 once, on a gravel road. even with TC kicks in. the grip is not good for power-to-wheel shakehead.gif

my first year campiro tyre the standard stock on when u buy the car come with it gone within 8 months. I clock around 40k mileage on the stock tyre.

but generally I heard some of the owner saying is wearing out faster than any other tyre they are using before.

maybe is just by batch. or maybe is just the tyre rubber characteristic.

and also the way you drive it. if you always press to the floor until your tyre spins then it wears out faster. if you go through corners until have sound while you driving then the tyre wears out faster.
if you break hard and the tyre screeching along the road then it wears out faster.

if drive politely then I think should prolonged it. maybe until 80k mileage.

Thanks man...
Might want to change the tyres earlier than normal then. PS3 is expensive, but I put it as one of the good performers out there. I've used to use them until I changed to 3ST for cheaper but still quiet alternative.

I will never buy another Continental Tyre again. Really scares me.

Some batches of Proton cars come with an offer of free maintenance. So the vouchers would pay for Mach 5 oil and labour, and this makes it cheaper to maintain the car even with fully synthetic by topping up the difference.

Not everyone has the vouchers. I don't too.

if you don't like noisy tyres, don't change to Potenza RE003 then tongue.gif

because this tyre noise is the same as BAX2. I don't mind since noise is same as BAX2, if it is louder, only then I mind tongue.gif

Maybe I don't drive as wild as you guys. I find the Champiro Bax 2 to be rather good. A bit noisy but it provides a lot of grip on the road. Road holding around the corners is good as well. The tyres do not produce a screeching sound even when I am going considerably fast around the corners. Only a slight screech when I was going really quick around the corners, but the car didn't lose control or anything and it is still stable. Though I take note the PS3's grip is better than the Champiro Bax 2 for those who are used to drive enthusiastically.

I presume Proton does not distribute the discount vouchers anymore. They were given for cars bought in mid to end of 2013, around that time, maybe extended to 2014 I don't know. Those vouchers are valued at RM300 if my memory serves me right. For the first service, I only paid RM20+ using one of the vouchers.

For later models, maybe Proton has compensated by giving higher discounts for the car and scrapped the discount vouchers. I bought the Preve Turbo at about RM69k+ but have read that the selling price in 2013 had gone down to RM65k. Maybe the car is selling cheaper now.

RE003 and PS3 is too high level to be compared to Champiro BAX 2. Lol.

My stock tyre is Achilles 2233, and I am more worried about the common blow outs than lack of grip. Lol.
