Sp4, battery expansions. Over 3 yrs by 1.5month still under paid replacement. Paid 1888 for the replacement on Saturday and received the replacement afternoon just now.

Parcel sent from SG because malaysia has no surface device center.
It is cheap even the replacement is the same spec with 90 days warranty only. Unfortunately i do need the unique portability and form of surface so older spec does not bother me at all.
Now anyone know how do i do with my exisiting battery pregnant version of SP4? never get to destroy a device before...

If want to dispose, you can recycle with e-waste recyling people like ERTH

Sifu's sekalian here, wanna ask a little bit about surface 7 pro.

I'm intended to upgrade my novel-writing rig from current acer swift 3 (2018 version) to a microsoft surface pro 7 or Surface pro X, but somewhat tied in between usefulness and also compatibility.

1st issue in mind (portability and usability)

16gb i7 / 256gb VS 8gb i5 / 128gb (Surface pro 7)
8gb sq1 arm chip / 128gb with LTE connection (surface pro x)

As per mentioned with all 3 spec above, my main use over this tablet pc is because Im using Onenote + few browsers + wikipedia, youtube, casual browsing and always in top brightness condition wherever I go.

Will 8gb surface pr0 7 be sufficient to support my demand? (10 to 20 browsers from youtube to wikipedia, one note, maybe some apps and file transfer once a while) or 16gb would be better for lifespan (over 3 years usage)?

Or the Surface Pro X would be an even better option because it comes with LTE connection (like Yes4g everywhere I go, can become hotspot unit)?

I will be using this unit for writing most of the time, so lightweight, easy to use, and can use for long without worry about system crash or outdated is important. Hardly gaming.

I have the 8GB SQ1 256GB Surface Pro X since about a year now. I'd say for your use-case, get the SPX. Mine is similar to yours, except I dont open 10-20 tabs in my browser, but I use more OneNote, Excel and Word. It works a treat and I love my SPX (it's my daily driver). Trust me, once you put a SIM card in there and enjoy the LTE anywhere, it's hard to go back to a non-LTE device. Totally worth it! Alongside the fact that it is thinner, lighter and has smaller bezels than the SP7.

Thank you for the reply.

I am indeed looking forward for a reply like this because I believe that having a moving hotspot device with that battery capacity would be crazy good to replace my existing device. Furthermore, since im living in London, having a good, long life device is more important than chasing for the latest technology for vanity purposes.

Surface Pro 7 is good, but unfortunately, to use it, I'll have to prepare myself with another device, likely my own phone to hotspot for it to have an internet connection everywhere I go. Having two device supporting one another and one main device to support the others felt different, at least from my own point of view.

May I ask if the writing experience on SFX is as good as on the surface pro 7? (because the keyboard cover comes slightly bigger, and with a pen correct? How's the battery life goes in your opinion and the smoothness of the device?

I don't game or hardly, so it's purely a browsing - video-ing - writing - sometimes using that pen to cari pasal with diri sendiri usage.

Hi, my friend has a Surface Pro 7 bought from Australia less than a year ago. The type cover keyboard suddenly does not work; it is still under warranty according to the online check. May i know where in Malaysia I can bring to check and service?

I also love the LTE on Surface Go 2. There is no none LTE version for the Intel M3 version here .. at first feel so membazir need to paid more for feature that i wont use.

After i test using Unifi prepaid sim card for RM20 it kind of essential and great feature. and for the past 7 month using the sim card.. i never top up.. just use the 1GB free everyday.

gg what a bad product

I would have been fine if the device ssd died after like 5 years. But 2? Wtf microsoft

I need to iterate that microsoft is clearly aware of the problem since all new surface lineups are introducing removable ssd sticks. Bai bai microsoft, macbook here I come

despite the storage is soldered, I konform it will outlast that shitty surface. Not to mention, Apple gt official service centre

Even if I go and swap out the motherboard for my SP5, I doubt it will last. I looked up on the internet, seems like a common issue so its not worth to spend a dime to repair it...

The only choice I have now is to get a USB stick and snuck in portable Windows. At least it doesnt become a worthless shell.

Im considering selling off my SP5 with a faulty SSD (storage drive).

Everything including the screen and touchscreen functionality are all working fine, PM me if you are interested.

You can consider buying an external SSD and put Windows in and it will work just fine.

Hi everyone,
I setup my SP7 like image above and the monitor (HP Compaq LA2405wg) is connected to hub with extension cable, same setup works with Lenovo T480 laptop but not SP7, I can see the monitor properties in SP7 but no display on my monitor. It works perfectly fine when I removed the extension cable and plug the hub directly to SP7, suspect is the extension cable issue.

The extension cable I'm using is USB 3.1 GEN 1 with 5Gbps speed and if I buy a GEN 2 cable with 10Gbps speed, will it helps? Or anyone can recommend an extension cable which can be used with this setup? Appreciate that.

Surface Go 2 is the lightest (10" screen size, 544g), Surface Pro 7 (12.3" screen size, 775g) a bit heavier than Surface Go 2
Keyboard (Surface Type Cover) is a optional accessory
If choosing Surface Go 2, better to get Intel Core m3 processor model instead of Intel Pentium Gold
If choosing Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i3 processor model should be enough for your usage. If budget allow, go for Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM model
