Having trouble updating to Windows 8.1?
QUOTE(soultaker @ Nov 2 2013, 05:10 PM)
Why can't I find the update in the Store?

If your PC is currently running Windows 8 (or Windows RT) and you want to update to Windows 8.1 (or Windows RT 8.1) in most cases you’ll see this free update prominently featured on the Windows Store home page. If you’ve opened the Store and you don’t see the update, it could be for one of these reasons:

You might need the latest updates from Windows Update
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

You might be running an edition of Windows 8 that doesn’t support updating from the Store
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Windows Store might not be showing the latest content

More than enough..

Wait Sept? I'm too poisoned.. cannot wait.. but still comtempleting between SP3 i5 128gb or S3 128GB. SP3 read review got heating issue while S3 has charger issue.. rclxub.gif
my max application
1 Spotify
4 browser to view stock market
1 Onenote
1 or 2 office
1 torrent
output to 2 monitors...

Am using acer switch 10, still can deal with above all.. but sometimes is squeezing 2GB RAm to the max. So, thought of upgrade. 3:2 ratio is good, too.

I wonder why you hate the new start menu???

Though i'm not fond of the tablet mode too.... it is too weird with touch keyboard... felt like a backstep

Bloody irritating. Prefer XP version where u can see all the apps there. No need to hide or pin anywhere else. Waste of time. Everything in W10 must search for it.

Gotten my Surface Pen - Using treatpoints redemption from SenQ, so did not pay a cent for it.

Upgraded my Surface 3 to Windows 10, overall experience is excellent. Windows 10 is indeed built to have a good balance between desktop and tablet mode. Took a few hours to go around all settings and to get used to things, but I indeed do feel more in control vs Windows 8.1.

The only thing which is broken for me is the touch keyboard, which doesn't dock and resizes the application I am typing on. Hopefully Microsoft fixes this nuisance soon.

1. the start menu is scrolling vertically instead of horizontally, less Windows feeling I'd say... but probably it will go away after a while...
2. when using skype as an example, the chat box is at the bottom of the apps which is bottom of screen when it is in tablet mode. the problem with this is the touch keyboard is also at the bottom. sure you can move it, but typing experience is not the same anymore. What they should do is to resize the application according to the touch keyboard so that we can see what we're typing.

1. You know there's "All Apps" at the bottom of the start menu? You can definitely see all apps there, including desktop apps
2. Plus, you can click on the letter and jump directly to the group of apps? Say, you want to get Skype, click on any letter, select S and boom, all apps starts with letter S is there right in front of your eyes...
3. If that doesn't work for you, I'm not sure why you really bother to look at lines of application list looking for small items on the menu. The way I do it since Win7 is directly type the application that I want to launch so that the menu will search for me. This is still working on Win10 and it is much faster than both of the method I described above, even faster than looking for pinned apps at times... Which is why I don't really bother with Win8 style start screen because the way I use start menu hasn't changed.

Just few tips. Not necessarily going to work for you, probably you have even already try it...

Surprising nobody caught this during the Preview. laugh.gif It's a real nuisance for tablets.
