I've officially pre-ordered a SP4 at the MS store in the The Gardens Midvalley! thumbup.gif

Only weird thing is that they said that any instalment payment plan doesn't apply to pre-orders whereas the MS store in KLCC said it does. Doesn't matter anyway, can't wait for release biggrin.gif

The fall release version basically tamed all the errors, glitches and performance issues I had with my Surface Book. The singular problem that made the Surface Book crashed was the display driver, and I solved that too: by leaving the "Turn off Display" to Never. It's the wake up from sleep that is freezing the Surface Book that requires hard reboot.

That's great! Basically what I gather is that the main complaints people had with the SP4 and SB have more or less been resolved.

All in all, things are looking good for the Malaysian release of the SP4 in the coming week icon_rolleyes.gif

does anyone know if i7 spec also available now?

It seems like they're trying to push out the preorders first. The MS stores don't have stock generally for walk in customers.

Sigh, Lazada is only showing the black SP4 type cover. I wanna get the dark blue one. Wonder how long before they stock up.

Eh? That's embarrassing. I was refreshing lazada the whole of this weekend and could've sworn that the only option was the black. Thanks for this though!

So i called thudnermatch just in case. And i got a totally different response. Apparently this time I was told that the items are ready and packed but they are just waiting for the included free gifts to arrive and it should be sent out within the week. Im not sure this inconsistency in response is funny or sad sweat.gif
*
It's a bit sad. Haha. But I'm inclined to believe the latter response. I collected my SP4 from the physical MS store and they also said the free gift wasn't ready. So they made a note in my receipt for me to come and pick it up next time when it arrives.

I guess it'll be a lot more difficult for them to ship the device and free gift separately for the online preorders. Tracking who has received what will be a nightmare.

Guys,

Does the Microsoft Store still exist in KL?

Also, just found something odd with my type cover. There seems to be a bump under the trackpad. It is near where the trackpad meets the felt of the palm rest.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Trackpad works fine and I'm of two minds on whether to send it in for warranty.

The store in KLCC has closed. Can try Lowyat or The Gardens, those are open.

rhodry,

You won't happen to have the number of the Microsoft Store at Midvalley?

I would like to give them a call as I am in Sarawak.

Thanks.

No issues on my end. I have the SP4 i5, and been using it close to a year now. Performs like a new device and no slowdown or issues so far. Absolutely love it, probably one of my best buys last year!

Im planning to get surface pro 4 2017.

How do I know whether it is the latest 2017 version when i do shopping ?

http://www.lazada.com.my/microsoft-surface...0000.0.0.T8Bup0

Like the link above, is that the latest one ?
*
You link is for the older Surface Pro 4 (released in 2015).

The new version is only called "Surface Pro" (2017). This is a link to one of the new models, if that's what you're looking for:

It's amazing! I want one!
But seeing as how SB1 never came to Malaysia, what are the chances of SB2? sad.gif

u want buy the highest spec model which price tag ar USD 2499 ? drool.gif

Nah, I don't need so high specs. The highest spec is USD 3,299 by the way thumbup.gif

I'd buy the USD1,999 model in a heartbeat though, if warranty was supported in Malaysia. Read something on Reddit that if we buy and import from somewhere else (USA, Australia, UK, etc.) we cant claim warranty if based outside of the country the machine came from sweat.gif

The surface is now being discounted for more than $200. Is it possible to buy the surface through Microsoft's site?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/d/sur...vot:overviewtab
*
I bought a Surface Book from Microsoft's US site store. I had MS ship it to a US address (forwarding company) then had the forwarding company ship it to Malaysia. After which, Customs will inspect and most likely impose GST on it. But it's relatively hassle free if using a proper courier company like DHL/Fedex/etc. - they handle the import duties/GST and then bill you what extra needs to be paid.

You just need to note that if you ever want to claim for warranty, it needs to be shipped back to the US.

So having all that in mind, just think about whether the saving is worth the effort smile.gif For a device that isn't in Malaysia like the Surface Book, I decided it was. But for the SP, I'm not too sure.. Hope this helps! biggrin.gif

The screen flickering issue, while unfortunate, appears to be confined to the SP4. So getting the SP2017 should be fine.

Got a bit too excited yesterday.. Went around looking for the 15" Surface Book 2. Thunder Match in Mid Valley first - they said out of stock, then All IT in Lowyat - they said stock coming in 2 weeks.

I stupidly forgot to check online for the 15" release date. After those two failures, then I went online and saw that the 15" is only released mid-April. Doh!

Partly my fault. But the question is, why cant they retailers be helpful to begin with and advise the customer at "this model isn't released yet, it will be in 2 weeks". Saying instead "out of stock" has a very different meaning. rolleyes.gif

May I know where I can get AAAA batteries for my Surface Pen, please? Thanks. rclxms.gif

Most camera shops and hardware shops in KL I checked don't have it. Ended up ordering from Lazada, cheap and easy. Just search for AAAA battery on Lazada and there are plenty of options thumbup.gif

I also traded in my flickering SP4. Very efficient process!

Called MS support and they set things in motion. They arranged for a courier to pick up my old decide last Monday and I received the replacement unit on Friday.
