1. Annual Income: RM60-70K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes/auto-waive with minimal swipes

3. Card required for: List all your needs
Petrol - 100
DailyLunch/Weekend Dining/Dating - 600-700
Touch & Go - 100-200

4. Existing credit cards if any: nil (plan to take only 1 cc)

5. Looking at CC from: not sure, cimb(salary), but opt for oversea bank e.g. citibank (any benefits when travelling to overseas?, travel oversea twice a year)

Thanks for the recommendation. Now I'm considering RHB or AmBank Platinum. Both are kind of similar. Anybody has any experience on either or both cards that could help me decide? AmBank's is free for life but called RHB and they say can waive the annual fees.

Well, I used to have RHB Plat and I have terminated it about a month ago because it has no benefits though it gives 4x PPL access per calendar year. On paper, you need to spend 36k per annum to waive its AF. However, when I requested to terminate it, the lady from retention department called and offered me free AF until 2018 if I'm not wrong. Anyway, I still proceeded to cancel it because it has no benefits and gave me the highest credit limit which will increase my credit exposure.

I also have the AmBank Plat which I find it more suitable for my usage as it also gives PPL access to some overseas PPL for e.g. Changi Airport and Beijing International Airport which I always frequent. It gives unlimited access but every access comes with a condition you will need to swipe 3x in overseas 60 days before/after your PPL visit. Yes, it's a free for life card.

If you want a hassle free card, you can try Aeon Gold which gives free 6x PPL for KLIA/KLIA2 per calendar year. To waive its AF, you only need to swipe 12x a year. Easy peasy. Moreover, it has one of the lowest overseas charges. Else, you can try the latest new card-Aeon Big Gold which has the same PPL benefit as Aeon Gold but not sure of its overseas charges.

Hope the above helps.

mbb ikhwan or hlb wise for petrol and tng (reload under grocery). you may need another card for dining, perhaps mbb2cards or hlb mach.

so yeah, mbb ikhwan + mbb2cards (both free for life) or hlb wise + hlb mach (af applies). you may also choose mbb ikhwan (free for life) + hlb mach (af waived with 12x swipes).

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes

3. Card required for: insurance 200 and internet bill,

4. Existing credit cards if any: RHB premium(staff)

Others: I currently dont have car yet, so petrol rebate not important for me, I just like use CC swipe when no extra charge, spending include dining or some booking for entertainment,  just because my that rhb staff card point seem useless, so looking another CC, Thanks,
*
since petrol not important, choose aeon watami 3% (with spending requirements) or hlb essential 1% (no spending requirement).

you are fresh grad and already own cimb vs? is it supp card?

no, don't choose mbb2cards, it's no longer attractive as before.

if mainly for petrol, choose mbb ikhwan and pump on friday or saturday.

Thanks for your feedback! Really insightful. Each card really has its own pros and cons. I'm tempted to get the RHB Plat for the time being partly because of the current promo for free luggage. But the PPL access is only to Malaysian airports.

On the other hand the AmBank card gets you PPL access to some overseas airports but you have to make 3 overseas swipes for it to be free, which is definitely doable. And plus, it's free for life!

Saw the blog post on Aeon Gold's lower than usual overseas charges! But prefer AEON Big Gold rather than the department store version, but this one is not tested yet.

Thanks for making my decision even harder. haha joking2 this is really2 helpful. I just need to figure out how exactly I'm going to use the card to get maximum benefits.

Yeah, just go for the one which you think is suitable and gives you freebies. biggrin.gif
The only bad thing about AmBank Plat is if you are traveling within Malaysia, you can't use it well because can't swipe at overseas. laugh.gif

That's why I have the Aeon Gold just in case. laugh.gif

Oh ya, another thing with AmBank is it has RM 650 free cash back now if you swipe RM 1600 within 60 days and must also register a supplementary card when you sign up. Though it's first come first serve basis but the quota is still there. I got my card in July and only swiped RM 1600 in late August and I got the RM 650 two days ago. thumbup.gif

Hello hello,

wanted to ask a question,
is there any credit cards which has some kind of contest period like swiping more than a certain amount, and you will be able to get certain prices like phone and etc~~

this is because i am going to swipe quite a lot next month for house refurnishing and etc.

I think I've decided to get the AEON BiG Gold card because I feel like I can use it a lot both locally and overseas (hope same super nice exchange rate as the AEON Gold Card) + 6 PPL access.

For you guys/gals who have multiple cards, does the benefit of having the card outweigh the annual RM50 govt tax? Because I like the idea of having multiple cards with each for a certain use but then I think about having to pay the annual govt tax just doesnt seem worth it..for me la

Alright, Aeon Big is not a too bad card as well. smile.gif

laugh.gif No more Government Service Tax after Goods and Services Tax came effect on 1st April 2015. That's why it is better to get an AF free card or cards which their AF can be easily waived. AF is still applicable though.

Yeah, after this service tax is abolished, I have added quite a number of credit cards. laugh.gif
I have probably close to 10 credit cards now. laugh.gif

Anyway, it is subject to bank's approval ya. smile.gif

Was wondering if this is the right place to ask, but I can't seem to find the right section for this.

I was wondering, to get a personal loan, banks would want you to have a credit history, correct?

Currently, I have no loans to repay and I have no CC. Should I be getting a credit card to build my credit history so that I can apply for a loan in the future? smile.gif

yes, it's good to get a cc to build your credit history. anyway, some loans (especially car loan) will approve without any credit history too.
