Was wondering if this is the right place to ask, but I can't seem to find the right section for this.

I was wondering, to get a personal loan, banks would want you to have a credit history, correct?

Currently, I have no loans to repay and I have no CC. Should I be getting a credit card to build my credit history so that I can apply for a loan in the future? smile.gif

1. Annual Income: RM24K to RM30K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for: Cashback/points

4. Existing credit cards if any: CIMB petronas platinum

5. Looking at CC from: PBB

6. Others: Nil

Would it be easier to get your credit card approved from a bank if you already have an existing savings account with them? Got rejected by Hong Leong, and was wondering about PBB since I have an account with them for few years now.

CIMB was quite easy to apply back then because I could just apply through Clicks with my savings account.

Yes, usually will be easier if that's your salary crediting bank.
Well, you didn't mention any category, so you can also add CIMB Cash Rebate into your list.

I'm looking for a card that does not share credit limits with my CIMB petronas plat though, so I am guessing CIMB cashback wouldn't work for me?

Yes, it will share credit limit. Any reason for that?

Just in case of emergency. Medical issues that come and go.

You can only add another bank's card now.
Try PBB then since that is your salary crediting bank.

Ah, crud. Forgot that point. It's not my salary crediting bank though. It's an account where I dump my savings in. Hopefully that would still make me credible to the bank.

Try OCBC Titanium MasterCard as a standby card - zero Annual Fee without any T&C.

1% rebate for online and overseas transactions
0.1% rebate for all others

Decent backup card to have.

ohh Interesting, never considered OCBC. Thanks!
