Unless u actually use GFE features, I generally do not even install GFE at all.

I always manually download my driver and install it myself.

Hi sifu here,

I'm planning to upgrade to GTX 980 Ti.

I have only 1 question. What's the major difference between:
MSI GTX 980 Ti Gaming
MSI GTX 980 Ti

I did some research, more on Ti Gaming. But I can't find any comparison for these 2 card and the price is quite big gap between them. From the official website, it only show that Ti Gaming have 3 OC profile. Any comment?

Non-reference (Custom cooler) & Reference card (nvidia blower cooler).
Higher Factory OC Clock vs Stock Clock.

for me, i think i'll get the reference card due to my casing setup, and its already very powerful anyway without OC-ing and ref cooler cooling is good as well.

Hmm.., my room is kinda hot. Perhaps the custom cooler will be better. Thanks for the info! biggrin.gif

I'm guessing it's e non reference cooler and reference cooler as well, but in MSI website, there is a 2 fan non reference 980 Ti and it isn't the Gaming. In that case I can assume it's a lousier cooling system compared to Gaming.

Dont take Gaming 6G coz their board is very good. But the cooler is meh.
Reference cooler will throttle to much. FYI GTX 980 ti will throttle at 65-67c,75c and 84c
Take either palit, zotac or gigabyte G1(recommended)

Nope, it will throttle 3 times. IIRC all of them around 12mhz-14mhz

Remove the throttling by bios modding, issue solved. All Maxwell cards throttle, nothing to do with brand.

You are recommending other brands because of their coolers, isn't it?

And the temps are safe thresholds. People bios mod to remove the throttling at ~60c and ~70c, but leave the 83c threshold there. Nvidia purposefuly did this.
Since when was ~75c dangerous?

The MSI Gaming cooler is perfectly adequate to keep a 980Ti under ~75c.

Hurm, mybe u interpreted it wrong. I say like that coz msi cooler is bad. Some people reach 80c without OC. Meanwhile other card only reach 70c. And for bios, not everybody wamts to do it

Some people just want plug n play. No oc/mod bios/etc. And even with aftermarket cooler can reach 84c and already downclock 3 times. Im not impressed. While palit/zotac/gigabyte only 70c and throttle 1 time.
