Understanding Risks & Returns of Bonds February 11, 2009
Different bond classes exhibit different risk and return profiles. The correlations between bond classes also differ. An investor who understands the differences can make a more appropriate allocation between different bond funds to form a portfolio matching their risk appetite.

I think i read somewhere to invest according to your risk profile.
below is what i remembered, based on age.

20-40 : you should be able to tolerate high risk investment
40-50 : balanced
>50 : low risk

but all depends on your balls.

me? I'm doing equities only at the moment through FSM (risk rating >7), but still have monthly saving to a fixed account that I try not to touch.
Also a hassle to touch coz need to go to the branch and must use book to withdraw.

Hi guys. Haven't look at my portfolio in awhile. Global Titan sky rocket since I last monitored. Although AIWF and Global Titans both heavy exposure in US and Europe, AIWF performance is very dull compared to the Global Titans.

Give u a simple real life example...

I own 100% of Najip Songlap Sdn Bhd. My capital is RM80m

U wanna invest RM20m in Najip Songlap Sdn Bhd, making the capital increase to RM100m

(a) Today the company give me dividend of RM8m, but I chose to reinvest in the company, i.e. the company issues new share capital to me, sorta like a Bonus Issue. So, I will still have RM80m worth of shares in the company
U invest RM20m, u will own 20% (RM20m / RM100m) of the company

(b) No dividend
U invest RM20m, u will own 20% (RM20m / RM100m) of the company

Pink Spider, your example above is too complicated. I like your previous chicken farm example better. Easier to understand. biggrin.gif

Well, if Feds decided to hike their interest rate either next month or delay till next year, we should expect a further weakening in MYR.

Good news to those with US exposure!

any recommended US exposure? I sold RHB OSK US Focus Equity fund, as i am worried about collapse because it is a micro-small cap fund, which is very volatile. Now my exposure to US is thru EI global leader, which is around 50% US according to factsheet.
