QUOTE(xuzen @ Aug 6 2015, 02:39 PM) Wah Lau eh? It is human nature. We like to buy high and sell low. Very few investors will buy when the market is down, i.e. buy low and sell high. Market down ... everyone quiet as a mouse. When market up... suddenly an influx of posting asking what fund to go in! UT 101: chasing market is a recipe for disaster. Now, market down is the best time to enter and strategize! I.e., like playing chess, now is the best time to place your chess piece, don't only move when you are being checked. Xuzen That's why even if the sifus here share their "trade secrets", for e.g. Algozen, I won't be worried. Because nobody will follow them. It is just too "risky" to buy when the market is bleeding. |

I just topped up all my China linked funds yesterday using Value Averaging. These are all the funds in the red now.
I hope it will work out by December 2015. |

I only look at the technical risks ratios of the funds. For example, things like alpha, beta, standard deviation and Sharpe ratio. All things being equal, the expense ratio as well. I only know the basics of the Modern Portfolio Theory, the details I leave it to the sifus here. but is the forecast going south or rebound later? These info will tell me whether the funds have the potential to do well in the future. This post has been edited by Vanguard 2015: Aug 6 2015, 04:57 PM |

Lost Decade in Emerging Markets: Investors Already Halfway There
Just 14 years ago Wall Street fell in love with the BRICs, the tidy acronym for four major emerging economies that, to many, looked like sure winners. Today, after heady runs and abrupt reversals, most of the BRICs -- in fact, most developing nations-- look like big-time losers. The history of emerging markets is a history of booms and busts, but the immediate future may hold something more prosaic: malaise. Investors today confront what could turn out to be a lost decade of returns, with four or five more meager years ahead. “These are very much the lean years after the bonanza decade,” said Harvard Kennedy School economist Carmen Reinhart, one of the world’s top experts on financial crises and developing economies. ![]() URL: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/201...y-halfway-there |
