US market dropped about 1%
Wall Street slides with commodity-related stocks, autos Reuters) - U.S. stocks dropped on Tuesday as a selloff in commodities dragged down materials companies while Volkswagen suppliers' shares dropped following the German carmaker's emissions scandal. S&P materials (.SPLRCM), down 1.8 percent, led the decline for the S&P 500, but the selloff was broad-based, with all 10 major sectors lower. Shares of Newmont Mining (NEM.N) were down 6.3 percent at $15.59. URL: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/futures-shar...-111851996.html |

I know some of you are into bonds. But I found out something interesting as I was playing around with my Algozen.
I used LibraAsnita Bond as a proxy for local bonds and I found that the correlation-coefficient is rather high with the equities. This means that it is not as diversified as we all thought it to be. The figures ranges from 0.5 and above. Then I used RHB Asian Total Rtn as a proxy for Asia-Pac High Yield bond and again it is quite high correlation, up to 0.7 with Titanic and Ponzi 2.0. Typical Bond yield is around 4 - 5% with standard deviation of +/- 1%. Money mkt is around 3.5 - 4% but its stan-dev is 0.1%. High yield bond may give you double digit ROI, but the risk you take is as high as a balanced fund... around 8 - 9% Standard Deviation. My take home message is be cautious! Bond is not that diversify with equities anymore. Better to use money market as a volatility stabilizer compared to bond. Xuzen |

Investment Advice from Warrant Buffett: .......September 23, 2015 “My advice to the trustee could not be simpler: put 10% of the cash in short-term government bonds and 90% in a very low-cost S&P 500 index fund (I suggest Vanguard’s).” This is the investment advice Warrant Buffett gave his trustees in the 2014 Berkshire Hathaway shareholder letter. He mentioned that upon his demise, the assets he leaves for his wife shall also be invested in the same ways. Warrant Buffett’s reasoning for such investment is that purchasing an S&P 500 index fund is like buying a large variety of US stocks at the same time. The long-term holding of the fund not only guarantees a considerable amount of return, but also carries relatively lower risk. http://www.fundsupermart.com.hk/hk/main/re...articleNo=10438 This post has been edited by MUM: Sep 23 2015, 07:43 PM |

Hello Frens,
i just cut loss my HL Asia Pac Infrastructure from HLB. Plan to use 30k to buy FSM UT at 0% fee. I notice Am Asia Pac Eq income has been down for some time already, it was above RM1.00 and now even below my cost. Has anything bad happened to Am Asia Pac Eq? If the fundamental remains same and good, this would be a good buy for me right? Anyone can suggest what is good to buy? If i lose money i wont blame anyone. Just attached my porfolio if you guys need to see what i have in what proportion. |

European stocks rally with commodities as government bonds drop
QUOTE “European data have been reasonable,” said James Buckley, who helps oversee about US$43 billion at Baring Asset Management in London. “Investors have been favoring more domestic European stocks, and I expect this trend to continue. We have sold off quite heavily, and we could have a day or two more of gains.” “Most of the negative news has already been priced in,” said Eugen Weinberg, head of commodities Research at Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt. “There has been a technical rebound after recent selloffs.” http://www.theedgemarkets.com/my/article/e...?type=Corporate |

Your opinion on AmAsia Pac Equity Income? Pretend say i already have a balanced portfolio and i dont have this AmAsia PAc Eq Income yet, Is it a good buy now? QUOTE(yklooi @ Sep 23 2015, 08:18 PM) with such a BIG sum...may I suggest you have a talk to the FSM CIS.... Thanks for that advice, but what i need now is which good UT (either the ones i am already have or new UT that i dont own yet)ask them to help you "rearrange" your portfolio. to pick up in this 30days before my 0% fee expires. As for rearranging, just assume i already have balanced portfolio. |
