3M for PoE

3M POE - Small unit

3M POE - Big unit

Can install 2 units (1 small 1 big) as POE outside of your house.

Filter size: 5 microns

Replacement cartridge:
Small - ~RM30 each
Big - ~RM600 each
*both can wait shopee / lazada voucher to maximize discounts

Small unit first, then big unit. Small filter can help reduce initial contents in water, reduce load in your bigger filter. Both filter replacement cartridge easy to DIY replace, can replace whenever water flow starts to be too slow for your liking. Small unit replace every 6 months or so. Big unit can replace every 2 years if your smaller unit is replaced properly.

Then if you want to install undersink, then can go with

3M undersink

Filter size: 1 microns
replacement cartridge: ~RM260
replace every: 1 year or 1.5 depending on your usage

total cost per year replacement estimate: (RM30 x 2) + (RM260) = RM320 / RM14 per month
total cost per 2 years replacement estimate: (RM30 x 4) + (RM260 x2) + RM600 = RM1240 / RM52 per month

Factors to consider:
- municipal water pressure (adding extra filters will lower water pressure)
- municipal water quality (within city should be cleaner, within developed states should be cleaner, hence prolonging your filter life and reduce replacement needs).
- water consumption needs (use more water = shorter filter life)

Not a seller / reseller for water filters, not water expert also, just sharing my basic setup for standard water quality

So far after I installed 3m, water quality improved significantly, clearly observable, done own testing (I am very intrigued by water related topics, hence I went to study and completed online degree for water management for my own curiosity). Besides that I still do boil water for consumption, my fridge also alot of space so use glass bottle to store purified or boiled water

On top of that no subscription fee for me, no need to arrange time for the filter fellas to come to only just "wash" the filters, used to have coway, but realized its RO filter, gave to my elders

Easy to replace filters, no significant change to my water pressure (landed) and installation hassle also one off, would recommend

edit: removed the extra spacing between lines

mind to share some photos of your setup for the big n small POE ? smile.gif TIA

Hi everyone, I have used Coway , Cuckoo water purifiers. I am considering the LG WD518 purifier since it's much cheaper RM50/month

Just wanted to get some feedback, is the water dispensing pressure good? I tested at the showroom, it seems like pretty slow

Salesman said it's due to water pressure from the tap. Anyone has any feedback or video?

Thanks
*
I previously tested it takes bout 50 sec to dispense 1L of ambient water

Since u are aiming at WD518, u can set any volume according to ur container size and just leave it alone while it dispense, it will dispense the exact volume set and won't overflow anyway biggrin.gif

Hi, anyone know where to get the LG Puricare WD516AN filter replacement? I tried to find online but no results. I bought the unit outright with free 2 years filter. But my 2 years period is ending soon but couldnt find any filter replacement myself...

Had to place order with any LG sales agent ya, if u couldn't reach ur previous agent, can always whatsapp me for help notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Hi fellow sifus. Moving into a new space for ourselves. Wanting to find an affordable option for easy access for drinking water from the tap, without requiring to boil. Would like some realistic opinions and suggestions. Able to change the filter myself when required as well. Currently looking at Panasonic options:
1. TK-CS500
2. PJ-37MRF
3. TK-CS200

1. landed or condo?
- Condo
2. how many pax in your household?
- 3 adults
3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house?
- No
4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?)
- Preferably not. Its a rental, will only be there 2 years or so. A tabletop filter is probably best idea. Able to change filter myself.
5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth?
- Prefer 1-time off purchase.
6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k?
- Below 1k
7. do you own external water filter yet?
- No. Condo unit.
8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water?
- Hot/cold function not necessary, prefer to save cost on the unit and monthly electricity. Can boil and use fridge/ice if need hot/cold water.

Thanks in advance!

I think u main requirement is can drink directly without needing to boil, u'd want to focus on removal of bacteria/viruses and heavy metals, can look at the micron size

CS200 doesn't seem to do that, its filter contains only fabric and carbon
CS-500 mentioned it filters bacteria, I assume it's close to 0.1μm
PJ-37MRF mentioned 0.1μm though

Personally I prefer more frequent replacement schedule and a few separate filters for different filtration purposes

The flow rate of these 1-filter-for-all that lasts 3 years will eventually be very slow, the larger pore size part will be so clogged that the smaller pore size part cannot be fully utilised, end up need to be replaced earlier than advertised sweat.gif

Taste Panasonic first. They have a very special taste, to me it tastes like medicine. In this budget, you can either choose super cheap 3M and boil after (not ideal, but cheap). Or install undersink filter in countertop configuration, like Aquaphor, then you don't need to boil, but it will be 1000RM. Advantage if this is when you get your own place, you simply install it undersink and have a good system. Or PJ37, but only if you are ok with this special taste

I just changed to LG Puricare from Coway. And i think there are some difference btw the two and we not get used with LG Puricare taste yet. Probably becoz Coway is RO system, it is basically tasteless.

Was ur Coway tankless? LG is tankless hence will need to heat the water instantly which will be slower than just dispensing preheated hot water from the tank

Anyone used Coway Petit? Seems that coway is pushing to upgrade to their new models as they claim the parts for this model had already been stopped.

I've been using this for 11 years already.

Why ceramic? It is like the worst choice nowadays. But anyway, if you want ceramic there is only doulton.

i plan to use Doulton ceramic as a pre filter, then route to Panasonic countertop filter.

eventhough that panasonic filter have reasonable powdered activation carbon, but i think its not strong enough to filter rust and and sediments.

what do you think ?

i live in cyberjaya. so i dont have problem to trust the water treatment plant. its just the old pipes (rust/sediments/heavy metals) that im worried.

by the way, do you know what is the safest way to store water ? i always use cheap plastic bottles to put in fridge. but after reading about MICROPLASTICS im begin to afraid of it.

i made some research and found TRITAN plastics is better than other BPA-free container. but not sure if what they selling here is real tritan.
