Hello, just wanted to ask is Aquaphor Crystal Eco still a good indoor water filtration system compared to others ? Noticed that there is a new pro version available but of course it’s more expensive too. I want to replace my aging Diamond filtration system and I prefer to consume it directly without boiling. Thanks!

Pro is just slightly better, improved Aqualen and carbon block. You can always later upgrade non pro to pro cartridges. Still a good filter, in terms of undersink filters I firmly believe there is nothing that comes close in terms of price/quality and it is direct drink without boiling.

4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?) yes
5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth? Already have cuckoo as POU filter
6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k? Below 1k +-
7. do you own external water filter yet? no
8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water? No need

Got a subsales unit recent and it’s in Reno phrase, thinking of having a POE filter but have quite Abit of space constraints. Any suggestion of which brands / type could be good ? If undersink, what are the chances of leakage and getting cabinets spoilt?

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all.

We've a new house build. This is a super exciting project for my wife and I as it'll be our first project where we can decide and explore different ideas into creating a eco friendly luxury Airbnb. One of our ideas is a rain water collection system on top of the municipal water.

Attached is the image of how the water comes.

It starts from

1. Syabas water -> membrane filter -> two 300 gallon tanks that we have lying around from a previous project + water from the rain water collection -> 1.5HP water pump -> bathrooms x 4

2. Syabas water -> membrane filter -> 300 liter tank that is also linked to the rain collection system -> 0.87HP pump -> UV filter -> LG water dispenser for drinking/ RO filter dispenser for cooking

The rain collection system has a bunch of filters too.

1. Roof -> RC gutter -> large item filter -> aquarium sponge filter -> rainwater tank -> pump -> sand filter -> membrane filter -> use tanks

The whole intention behind this is to see if we can scale this for use in a commercial setting.

Any input is much appreciated. We got this plan from Thailand where there is a pretty strong rain water collection community.

PoE or PoU or both? Attach please a photo of where PoE to be installed. Undersink properly assembled never leaks. We had couple of Fresca leaking, but due to a faulty valve (batch came all faulty, the inlet valve from the main), but we never had a single Aquaphor leaking under the cabinet since like 2018ish. But anyway, even if you install countertop with undersink connection (example LG), still same risk.

Looking for POE

Basically where it’s circled in red is the water meter which means I don’t have too much of a choice ? Either just after the water meter or divert the water to the kitchen cabinet and put it underneath the sink. After going thru the POE filtering, it’ll serve the entirely house.

How much space is underneath? Doesn't seem to be difficult to install in this spot if there is roughly 30" under.

In terms of depth, it’s available. But overall the kitchen doesn’t have too much space. And was afraid of the leakage.

My initial thought of keeping at the kitchen area instead of yard (area after kitchen) was to reduce plumbing pipes going back and forth.

What POE will you recommend if I keep my options open ?

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend installing PoE in the kitchen itself. They leak quite often because of various reasons, it would be a complete disaster. Better to plan and install in they yard.

Most filters nowadays don't affect the flow much when clean. As they get dirty, you gotta backwash or change the cartridge. Only PoE will affect it though a little, PoU doesn't at all

Depends. Can you install undersink? Do you need hot-cold options or just clean water? Your budget?

I recently installed ioncares PVDF Membrane filter, for RM1699. This is the 6000l/hr type, if condo possibly can go for the smaller option which might be cheaper.

Reason I bought this as replacement for 3M AP902, is that the

i) filter membrane is hand washable (once a year)
ii) does not require backwash unlike all other membrane filters out there.
iii) Replacement Filter Cartridge is RM650 (approximately every 5-8 years average lifespan) vs 3M (approximately RM600 every 2 years)
iv) Compact Stainless Steel body, makes the overall installation look neat
