You can probably get accessory shop to change for you but may not be easy as I don't see any flat surface there.
Steering lock not very safe as steering wheel can easily be cut with hacksaw. Pedal lock is safer but not foolproof also. I heard Locktech type pedal lock has been compromised. Installing an aftermarket alarm will void electrical warranty.

No lock is foolproof but any lock will slow down the thief and hopefully make him go for an easier target. Fortunately Mazda cars are not hot cars for thieves.
*
Yeah from what I see on forum, Locktech seems to be very popular, I think pricing is around RM300-400

I wonder what makes a car hot or not for thieves, is it the accessories or depending on neighboring country like thailand? But Mazda 3 seems to be quite popular in thailand also..

I dont think there is difference between HS and GL since its the same engine.
Im driving the HS btw.

I think mainly is because of HS 18inch big rims vs GL 16inch which adds weigh

Hi guys,

After a month having the car, yet everyday I enjoy my driving and learning new trickes everyday. I have few queries see if anyone can help me out

1) I have this thinkin running in my mind all the time when I-stop kicks in. Is turning off the engine and starting back does it bring any harm to the car in the long run. Bcoz since young we are tought that off ur aircond, ur lights before turning on/off the engine, so I am abit sceptical on the long run. I did find a petition on Malaysia Mazda 3 CBU owners where they claim it has damaged their car.

2) the radio, how do we set it to show the name of the station ie. Hitz or Mix FM. mine just show the numbers.

3) The I-stop at times do not blink green or show up. Is that normal?

4) I will share few tricks I learn, you could click the voice command and say 'DIM THE SCREEN' and the screen goes off completely! Or you can say 'DIM THE SCREEN AND SHOW THE CLOCK' it goes off but only the clock appears. I find that cool.

Hope you guys could share a few tricks here too. Thanks!

1) I would like to think that Mazda has done sufficient engineering to ensure robust performance from its engines over the course of 100,000kms at least. I do wonder how people in Malaysia use i-stop when they have their A/C on almost permanently.

For me, i-stop works well when I have the A/C turned off. I can keep the engine off for a good 2-3 minutes.
When it is on, I find that my engine only cuts off for less than a minute. Then it restarts itself when the compressor kicks in.

2) Not sure.

3) Normal in my experience. Usually happens when the system has not charged up enough.

4) That's good to know. I normally do it manually if I have to smile.gif

Not really a trick, but holding the Nav+Back+Mute buttons will reset your MZD. Had to do it on a couple of occasions when the Nav absolutely refused to start (just showed me a compass).

I wonder is it hard to move mazda 3 front number plate placement similar to mazda 6?  hmm.gif

I feel the plate placement on mazda 3 spoil the design of the front  yawn.gif

Actually, i find it rather crude looking, doesn't complement the original design shakehead.gif

What makes a car hot for thieves is good second hand value. That's why T & H are hot but Mazda is not very hot. Conti cars are cold.

Hope someone can answer the newbie to forum questions doh.gif

1) Is there a difference between CKD version and CBU, besides 45k difference price tag... mine CBU btw (the earlier batch)
2) and whats that SCBS thing you guys talking about, never experienced it before wor...
3) Are you cars tinted? mine with 3M film but still veli veli hot leh, and AC also not very powerful to feel cold air when blasting, comparing with myvi advance...
4) Which petrol you guys prefer?? Ron95 biggrin.gif i dislike shell the most haha always doesnt add up for given range
5) Does your cars have auto locking? like press brake then car doors locked... or need aftermarket :/
6) Anybody know mazda 3 speakers brand? The mid speakers quite shiok haha
7) Is it true(heard from a friend) skyactiv technology allows engine to have higher than other commercial cars like civic combustion ratio, hence we should not follow the every 10k free service by mazda and just service every 5k ourselves... change oil only maa rather spend that than repair engine after 100k milage

So are all these(Q2,3,5) just my car problem or M3...

Just read up about difference, dont fully get it.. so the CKD, cheaper, has more features? like those fancy safety stuff (auto brakes, auto wiper, cruise control, rear car detection, adjustable headlights, auto off highbeam light, sensor at mirror, auto hazard lights?) thats alot... can i still get them sad.gif

Mine has the same, probably just engine parts cooling down, i think its fine as long there isnt any parts exposed to water when driving... so hot already if kena KL flood die lorh..

Just got to know got new reason for suspension with kruk kruk noise, the technician say strut bearing issue. But doesn't seem logical as the strut bearing is there to smooth the steering when the wheels turn  rclxub.gif

I asked Mazda service before, they said because of ABS or suspension thingy, using different material from last time(probably want save cost), they added some rubber for mine but still got sound. According for them its nothing to worry about and its very normal, many complaints already

Yes cbu has much lesser features compared to ckd, but look at the good side, we have sunroof....and u can't get the extra features locally
Not sure whats does the scbc stands for
Mine tinted with 3m raytech, still hot, did u tint ur sunroof as well?
Using ron97 to resist more knocking retard due to high compression ratio
U can get aftermarket autolock, afew post before by zaizai is 1 of them selling
Mazda speakers r their oem brand....don't find it tht great
I normally service my car 8k mileage

1) The CKD has more features than the CBU but you get to enjoy your Mazda 3 earlier. laugh.gif
2) SCBS = Smart City Breaking System - the car will auto brake to avoid hitting obstacle between 4 and 30 km/h
3) Didn't tint my car and the air-con is powerful enough (mine is CKD)
4) I use Ron 95 as recommended by Mazda. No problem.
5) No new cars have auto lock nowadays. You can add it aftermarket.
6) Don't know but it's not Bose
7) Just follow the recommended 10K service. In Australia the interval for Mazda 3 is 20K km/ 1year

Unfortunately there is no way to add any of the CKD features.

Any quality diff between ckd and cbu?

As i rmbr, 2nd gen M3 cbu quality is much better than the ckd. How about the skyactiv model?

Anyway M3 cbu is from where? Japan?

Incorrect. Our interval here is 10k or 1 year.

Our 3s are also tuned to run on RON91.
