How is the navigation map for the high spec Mazda? Anybody tried it yet?

Thanks to bro Lucifal my metallic aluminium M3 GL sedan is ready for collection. Good SA, delivers what he promised, highly recommended. I transferred from another dealer who cannot deliver the car after 2.5 months of booking.

Is there any setting to bring on a sound when you lock/unlock the door using the remote for the GL model? With lights only it's not so obvious and you have to double check.

This is my impression of my Mazda 3 GL spec after 3 days.

Gear change is very smooth, gas pedal is designed for economy driving, have to press harder to get the 'oomph'. I'm getting 7.5 l/100km for mixed driving including some spirited driving. This is good FC.

Cabin is quiet on reasonable roads. No wind noise at 120 km/h. On rough roads road noise intrudes significantly. No odd noises from dashboard or other body parts. No keok-keok sound when going over bumps so far.

Sound quality from FM radio is acceptable but not great. Music from USB and bluetooth sounds better. The average listener should have no complaint but I'm particular on audio so I may upgrade the speakers in future.

No confirmation sound when locking/unlocking car and no brake autolock. These should be able to install aftermarket.

Overall very satisfied with this car but there's still the nagging feeling I should have gone for high spec. Too late now!

Good Review! Thanks.

Is the ride comfortable or bumpy? Im looking for GL specs too smile.gif
*
The ride is comfortable. Cabin noise is surprisingly low. I have the impression the audio system increases the volume when the speed increase but as the cabin noise is still low it sounds too loud so I have to turn down the volume. Then when the car slows down the volume is a bit too low. Any other bros get this impression as well?

If you can afford the high spec I encourage you to get the high spec. Lots of goodies for RM15K. Don't regret like me.

Really surprise to hear CKD owner said cabin noise is low...
If compare to Civic, I felt Mazda 3 cabin noise is louder.

If this is true, then must be they done something to reduce the cabin noise for CKD. What the hell.

If not mistaken, there is one setting call ALC in your sound setting there, I believe that is the setting to control your audio volume based on the car speed.
*
So it's true. The audio volume does increase with speed. This validates my impression that the cabin is still quiet even when going at highway speed, otherwise I won't notice the audio volume getting louder. Thanks for the tip on the ALC.

Haha or you sell 95k to me and you get a new High spec tongue.gif . I go for GL because i prefer a comfortable & quiet ride with reasonable power and handling. So GL is the best choice if below 120k. High spec with low profile tyres definitely more noisy & less comfort. Yes long list of goodies but not necessary for me.  hmm.gif
*
Lose 10K in 1 week? LOL! No thanks. I'll use the RM15K saved from the hi spec to put in some nice mods like better audio system, brake auto lock and HID lamps. Any hi spec owners can comment if it is worth paying for the navigation? I remember one bro said SC charge RM1200 to add in to GL. Btw, I got leather seats for my GL due to Raya promo.

Anybody fitted an aftermarket alarm to their M3? Will it invalidate warranty?

I just realized we can add keyless entry, auto lock and lock/unlock sound with a suitable alarm system. Preferably a 2 way alarm which can communicate with the remote when the alarm triggers. Nowadays cars with immobilizers are no longer safe.

It's a grey area and manufacturers like to keep quiet instead of explaining how installing accessories will affect warranty. Logically installing something into the electrical system like audio system or alarm should not affect warranty of non-related parts like engine and transmission. But if your wipers malfunction can they blame it on your aftermarket alarm? It's possible but arguable. If you don't want to have any argument about warranty don't install anything aftermarket but you may be missing out on better security/conveniences/audio for your car.
*
If we just stick to the authorized shops the choice is very limited and the price is very high. I was quoted RM580 by GS Accessories for brake autolock and for the car lock/unlock sound they can't do anything about it (My GL spec only flash light when locking/unlocking). But I can install a basic alarm with brake autolock and arm/disarm sound for only RM200.

if u upgrade your alarm to 2-way, it will most likely also come with a feature to remote-start your car.
*
I'm actually not interested in remote start. I'm looking for a 2 way alarm with keyless entry, auto arming, auto brake lock and auto door release when ignition off. If any bros here can shorten my research I'll be grateful.

Anyone gotten their CKD High Spec Meteor Gray? Which area if I may also ask. Waited for 3 and a half months already sad.gif
*
This is a long time to wait. Some dealers which are directly under Bermaz can get the car faster than others. If still no ETA date you can shop around for a dealer with faster delivery. Your bank loan can be transferred and should be no problem getting back your deposit.

Where can get this stuff? Look good to me.
*
I called up the vendor but you won't like the price. This thing is useful for mirroring Waze or Google map onto your M3 screen and that's about it. For a price of RM2xxx I think I'll stick to using my smartphone on a car holder. Playing videos on the screen is distracting to the driver and not advisable.

Found alot of wireless mirror link box at lelong.com
Just not sure they work with Mazda or not.
Maybe will go to accessories shop and ask around when i get my car.
*
I think they have to be very specific to the car model and they need a skilled installer. JDM Teknik said the dashboard need to be partially dismantled to reach the screen to plug in the interface. On the positive side no wires need to be cut so it will not void your warranty. If the price is RM1xxx can consider but RM2xxx is too high.

On another note has anybody installed a high end alarm for their M3? I tried triggering the OEM alarm and the sound using the horn is quite pathetic. I don't feel safe without a 2 way alarm which informs the remote when the alarm is triggered

Try ask the vendor on group buy see whether can get cheaper price onot...
As long as no wore cut and not void warranty, i believe most of us here are quite interested to have it installed.
*
The price quoted was RM2100. You can contact Nigel Tee at 016-3919090 and nego for group buy. I'm no longer interested in this product.

Ya. 2k is too high.
Installing an alarm to the car will surely void the warranty.
*
It will only void the electrical warranty. But it's better to lose part of the warranty than lose the car.

Performace wise the Focus and Mazda3 is about the same. The difference is in the throttle curve. For the Mazda3 I'd say the first 50% of the fuel pedal is designed for fuel saving, so if you're looking for that feeling where you "step abit on the pedal and car zooms" type of deal you will be dissapointed. To turn on the Mazda3 power you have to step on the throttle quite deep. At MAX throttle the difference between the 2 cars are almost negligable.

I tested the Mazda3, Focus and Jetta quite abit before settling for the Mazda3. With the Focus I actually drove from KL to Ipoh in a friend's car. My conclusion is this, if you want power in the city driving Jetta is the one to get as it's got alot of low end torque which makes zipping in city a breeze. For highway driving all three cars are quite equal.

I suggest you test drive the M3 again, but this time push it harder and you'll see the car come to life.
*
I agree the Jetta is fun to drive due to its excellent low end torque but too bad a VW is only for the brave and the pain tolerant now. I heard VGM is improving and the DSG issue is over but I've yet to be convinced. In 5 years time I may be ready to get a VW if VGM continues to improve.

and also golf gte a.k.a golf hybrid? can go to do some research bos
*
He's talking about VGM still trying to get rid of their 2014 stocks; it's not about VW coming out with new models. Those 2014 stock have been parked in the sun and rain for a year so good luck to those who buy them.

After coated, the shop gives 5 years warranty with free 4 times maintenance (re-coat the whole car).

Go back the shop for car wash and vacuum in within 5 years are FOC.

The sales person advise me to go back for maintenance every 6 months if didn't really take care of the car much.. If ownself very caring can go back for maintenance once a year.

After 4 FOC maintenance finished, go back to re-coat they charge RM200 which I find it's quite reasonable as the price is slightly cheaper or same with waxing / polish..

*
Can you share the name of the shop? Thanks.

Guys, the power window of driver side labelled as Auto, what does it mean? Coz mine one not auto up or down oso when pressing once. I need to continuously press it for down and pull it for up. Are u guys the same? Or is it only my car problem?
*
I think it's only your car. Mine is one touch up and down. But it's a small problem because it can be re-programmed.
