Yes, the Maybankard 2 AMEX with 5% cash back for any type of transactions is still the best card to have even though Maybank inflated their Treats Points recently.

I get 5% cash back at Ippudo, Baskin Robbins and can even be used for 0% installment plan when buying a Rolex!

Yes, certain authorized Rolex dealers in KL do accept Maybankard 2 AMEX for 0% Installment Plan and you won't be charge a single sen "surcharge" and still entitled to standard discount rate (non-sport models), i.e. you pay cash or use Maybankard 2 AMEX 0% Installment Plan also you pay same price.

If you very free, click here to read my article A Little Bit Of This and A Little Bit OF That - Volume I, Chapter VIII where I mentioned I wanted to use my Maybank 2 Cards Premier AMEX to buy a Rolex GMT Batman (because it offer better Enrich Miles conversion of TP versus Maybankard 2 AMEX) but I burst my Maybank CC credit limit (and that's with increase in Temporary CL before even buying the watch) and ended up using my UOB Visa instead, hahaha. But Maybank really good, I ask for another Temporary increase in CL of RM50K around noon and they call me to inform me it was approved at around 6.30pm.

Not only Rolex, you can use Maybankard 2 AMEX to buy GIA diamonds at Wah Chan and Poh Kong with 0% Installment too.

On the contrary, for "substantial sum" purchases, if I have the option of 0% Installment Plan, I will definitely opt for it (or going with 0% Balance Transfer) as I can use the cash and deposit into FD and earn some interest instead of parting with my cash upfront. while stuck in the jam now, i checked my statement and saw that all my puchases done (outside of treatsfair) on 14/6 night (last day of treatsfair) were all posted on the same day. my purchases at guardian taipan, jaya grocer usj, giant putra heights, guardian putra heights. so for those who purchased in the treatsfair lagi must be posted on the same day too right?

Grats on new version..

anyway i have question here,

I want to book hotel room for family vacation (penang)
how to use the AMEX to get the cash back?
should i purchase it on weekend too?

and for the below;

Rule of thumb:
PAYPAL + Amex + RM = no go
PAYPAL + Amex + foreign currency = good to go
PAYPAL + Visa/Master + RM/foreign currency = good to go

I dont understand the above rule of thumb,
lets say i wanna book a hardrock hotel penang, should i go through hardrock hotel penang web to purchase the room or agoda?
i mean to get the cash back.

It doesn't matter whether you book thru agoda or hotel website as long as it is made on a weekend. However, do note that agoda is having a promotion so compare the final price.

One important notice as I just came back from TGV Sunway Piramid

- Thursday buy 1 free 1 - now only accept credit card, no more debit card. Moviegoers can buy Thursday B1F1 tix anyday of the week. (limit to 2 free tix per card. for M2c, then 4 tix if use 2 cards)

- Saturday buy 1 free 1, moviegoers can only buy on Saturday using ONLY Visa card. (free only 1 tix, but somehow I manage to buy as many as I like. hopefully maintain same, smile.gif )

- Sunday buy 1 free 1, same as above, only Sunday.

The Saturday and sunday Buy 1 free 1 is only for May & June promotion. Hopefully they will extend it.

They changed a lot since TGV offer came out on 2014. sad.gif

It is legit. You need to key in your cc number (but not submit) before the 5% is reflected.

That is a good news that it applies to every day. I don't think it's updated anywhere for this piece of news.

Me on another hand doesn't like installment and BT. I was "forced" to take installment when Maybank had discount for RM 300 for iPhone 6 last year. The feeling of paying RM 4++ every month for 6 months is not nice. Then I itchy butt went and applied BT and 1k+ every month for 6 months. Finally these two have ended in May and June, now I'm a free girl. Don't want to be tied with this kind of obligation anymore.

why do you want to refer to the paypal rule of thumb? since you don't use paypal for the payment of your hotel booking.

In short, just pay statement balance on the date indicated on your M2U, known as payment due date.
Is the latest day to pay the credit card bill (without incurring late payment change) the payment due date? So, it is not a day before the payment due date, right?

Depending on what method u using to pay.
If use m2u then can do payment in the day itself.
If giro from other bank, make sure a day before(business day) or few day earlier if non business day
