No worries, it is still one of the best cards in the market which everyone should have in their wallet. smile.gif

Yes, the Maybankard 2 AMEX with 5% cash back for any type of transactions is still the best card to have even though Maybank inflated their Treats Points recently.

I get 5% cash back at Ippudo, Baskin Robbins and can even be used for 0% installment plan when buying a Rolex!

Wow.

Can use EPP with Rolex?

24 months or 12 months or even more? laugh.gif
*
Yes, certain authorized Rolex dealers in KL do accept Maybankard 2 AMEX for 0% Installment Plan and you won't be charge a single sen "surcharge" and still entitled to standard discount rate (non-sport models), i.e. you pay cash or use Maybankard 2 AMEX 0% Installment Plan also you pay same price.

If you very free, click here to read my article A Little Bit Of This and A Little Bit OF That - Volume I, Chapter VIII where I mentioned I wanted to use my Maybank 2 Cards Premier AMEX to buy a Rolex GMT Batman (because it offer better Enrich Miles conversion of TP versus Maybankard 2 AMEX) but I burst my Maybank CC credit limit (and that's with increase in Temporary CL before even buying the watch) and ended up using my UOB Visa instead, hahaha. But Maybank really good, I ask for another Temporary increase in CL of RM50K around noon and they call me to inform me it was approved at around 6.30pm.

Not only Rolex, you can use Maybankard 2 AMEX to buy GIA diamonds at Wah Chan and Poh Kong with 0% Installment too.

Gen-X doesn't need EPP la. whistling.gif
I supposed it is 12 months.

Pretty sure he don't too but it's nice to know I could use my credit card for EPP.

Now got promotion lagi for EPP.

Time to swipe la lol.

On the contrary, for "substantial sum" purchases, if I have the option of 0% Installment Plan, I will definitely opt for it (or going with 0% Balance Transfer) as I can use the cash and deposit into FD and earn some interest instead of parting with my cash upfront. Me on another hand doesn't like installment and BT. I was "forced" to take installment when Maybank had discount for RM 300 for iPhone 6 last year. The feeling of paying RM 4++ every month for 6 months is not nice. Then I itchy butt went and applied BT and 1k+ every month for 6 months. Finally these two have ended in May and June, now I'm a free girl. Don't want to be tied with this kind of obligation anymore.
*
After much begging, I did managed to get a "place" at the very last minute for the Maybank EpiCentre event and got the iPhone 6 for RM300 less biggrin.gif However, what you said above is very true, I have mentioned several times before it is not worth the effort to perform BT for amount less than RM10K to go earn miserable interest and be in debt. 0% Installment Plans and Balance Transfer Plans can be a very dangerous tools for those who have no cash on hand to pay in full.

For those new to credit cards - click here to read my article 0% Installment Plan with Credit Cards - It IS A Trap and click here to read my article Balance Transfer Plans - Facts You Need To Know.

Hi,

Just want to ask the following questions :
1. If got fraud and we block the card, do we need to pay for that fraud charge?
2. If block, Maybank will issue you a new card?
3. To get cash back for petrol, can it be done at the counter?
*
Bro, for my case with my Maybankard 2 AMEX - the moment I received SMS on fraudulent online transactions, I called Maybank Customer Service and they immediately blocked my card and issued me replacement card without me asking them to do so. They will then sent me a Dispute Form where I will need to list the fradulent transaction(s). In the meantime, the amount relating to the fraudulent transaction will be investigated and I do no need to pay for it pending the outcome of the investigation. lAnd after Maybank block that card, I could not pay the Outstanding Balance of the transaction I did perform via M2u doh.gif Click here to read about it and I gave step by step instructions on how to pay the Outstanding Balance via M2U for a blocked card.

Now, your question No.1 is very general. As Human Nature mentioned, banks will investigate. So far I have no problems relating to fraud cases with my MBB, UOB and HLB cards. However, one member did report that CIMB insisted that he pays for a fraudulent online transaction.

General rule of thumb - report any fraud case/suspicious transactions immediately including lost of card. And for Maybank credit cards - you can set the SMS default value to RM1. As such, if there is indeed any fraud case related to your card, there is no reason why you are not aware of it when it happens and not report it.

But the good news is, we are only liable up to RM250, hahahaha. May have to go to court if bank insist we have to pay the full amount tongue.gif

For those of you new to credit cards, below is what I posted back in V8

QUOTE
Bro, I had several fraud cases. Previously before there was sms alert, I only found out about people cloning my card after I got my statement. Now we have sms alert and we will know when a fraud case occurs. That is if the Card issuer allows us to set the default value. Read this thread on SMS alert.

Most banks (not all) allow us to set the sms alert default value to RM1, the banks that allow me to do so are MBB, OCBC, HLB, UOB and Alliance. Citibank can lower the default value to like RM200 or RM250.  MBB the easiest, just call CS and request over the phone. If you have not, do it immediately.

Only once or twice I did not receive sms from MBB for local transaction but other than that I have been receiving sms for my retail (in person) and online transactions with my MBB and UOB cards (my main cards because I get 5X points) even when I am in USA, SG or Australia without fail.

For fraud or cloning of cards, only need to call CS (number behind your card and no other number) no need to do police report. But if your card was stolen or lost first thing is call CS and then go make police report immediately.

As for those unknown/private numbers and numbers you are not familiar you can always answer them BUT never ever release any personal info to them. If they said this and that, just tell them you will call back (number behind the card once again and no other numbers). There have been cases I got call from the bank and they wanted to do verification over the phone but since I am not sure if the call is genuine, I will tell I can't release my info over the phone and said I will call CS and they will understand. And never press redial but always key in the number behind the card when calling CS - this is extremely important and therefore I keep stressing it.

If mobile numbers, maybe I won't be bothered because most probably they are pesky pest HLA agents or scamers. But you see, I have several mobile lines/phones and 99% those scam calls or sms ( i get many ) or HLA agents will call a particular line that I give out to others (say filling up forms/contests, when people ask for my contact number, contact number behind my cheques, etc), so i know it is a scam when a person calls me saying he is from the bank. One time a person said he was from RHB and the number that showed up in my phone is that of RHB CS. I believe my this number is sold to scamers and circulating round and round. For banks, I have a different line that that not many know off and if get a call from a landline on this line I am sure to pick it up.

And sometimes I do get calls from the banks when I make transactions that is out of my normal spending pattern, e.g. at jewelry outlet. The person will identify himself and would verify if I had used the card and that is all and they will never ask for my personal details.

I even got a fraud call claiming that I have Unifi bills outstanding and the number shown is similar to Unifi number at their website but I know it is a scam because my unifi bill is auto debit and I get a thank you sms from Unifi every month. Please visit my facebook account at www.facebook.com/GenXGenYGenZ and read post this post dated 1 September 2013 and 3 May 2013 relating to fraud.

I also suggest you click here and read my article Credit Card Fraud Calls and Bank SMS Alert Default Value where I mentioned about Caller ID Spoofing.
And last but not least - click here to Suspicious Telephone Calls on CC matters Thread or you will regret big time.

I believe what he meant is the merchant charges 2% fees.

And then asking if still worth it to spend at that merchant on weekends.

Doesn't All-IT or someone do something like this?
*
Here's my case with All-It at Low Yat Plaza -

I bought a ACER V Nitro gaming notebook late last year. For ALL-IT case, if you are getting a Windows notebook, it usually comes with freebies. I opted not to receive the FREE gifts and I was given more than RM100 discount of RRP. Other ACER dealers in Low Yat Plaza was not offering discount but selling at RRP but none have stock anyway since it was in great demand. So the discount was more than enough to offset the extra 2% surcharge for 0% installment plan. If you use AMEX for 0% EPP, I think you'll be imposed 3% instead of 2%.

Click here to read my article about my son's ACER V Nitro i7 12GB NVIDIA GTX860M with Twin blowers

Now, I also did buy a Apple MacBook Air for my daughter in April this year at All-IT, once again opted not to receive any FREE gift and there is no discount for Apple MAcBook Air BUT I was not imposed any surcharge with 0% Installment Plan with my MBB VI.

I use my new platinum Amex card at shell last night and pump rm42++ petrol. This is my first swipe. Then, I receive a Sms below :

RM0.00 MBB:TQ for using your Maybankard ending 8164 for MYR250.00 AT SHELL - JLN IPOH BT 17\BA PO;20/06/15;19:44.For enq call num at back of your card

Then I quickly call CS. They said it's normal coz they capped the max. limit between 200 to 250. Bank will reverse back the amount few days. Does anyone get this kind of Sms b4?

When I use the gold card to pump petrol, I don't  get this kind of Sms. Really make me sweat...
*
Since it was the first time you used the card, maybe that's why you were sent a SMS. Maybank unlike other banks do not have a default value to trigger a SMS to be sent out but based on your spending pattern - unless they have changed it not long ago.

As for Petrol, it is normal to get RM200 SMS if you swipe at the pump terminals.

Anyway, if you have not called CS to set your default value to RM1 to trigger SMS alert, do it immediately.

MacBook Air can straight go to Epicenter and Harvey Norman,  redeem TPs and pay with AmEx. brows.gif
*
Went to ALL IT as that time my daughter was considering either a Windows notebook or MacBook Air. Harvey Norman did not have the Windows Notebook she was considering.

Anyway, nowadays I only convert my TP to Enrich to fly Business Class as it gives me "more in returns" compared to vouchers.

Those who are interested to redeem Enrich Miles (or KrisFlyer Miles), please click here to read my Comprehensive Review of The Best Credit Cards for Redeeming Frequent Flyer Miles.

In the above mentioned tutorial, you will learn that with the Maybankard 2 AMEX, you will earn 1 Enrich Mile for every RM2.12 spent. So, for example, if you do spend RM2500 per month with the Maybankard 2 Cards AMEX, within 3 years you would have earned 42,452 Enrich Miles where you can upgrade an Economy Class ticket to London (one way) versus redeeming RM1,125 cash voucher (400TP = RM1). Well upgrade to Business Class to London (12 hours direct) is definitely worth more than RM1.1K. That is if MBB and or Enrich do not inflate their redemption in the future tongue.gif

For your info, Enrich Miles can be used to redeem flights with other airlines under the One World Umbrella.

Yes, nothing. Just standard package.
Gen-X also didn't receive any free gift for MBA purchase from All IT. tongue.gif
*
All IT did offer me a RM50 voucher for the MacBook Air but I chose not to accept it but instead go with 0% Installment Plan with no additional surcharge using my MBB VI. But if one willing to pay in full for the MBA, he/she might get the FREE RM50 voucher or other Free gift at ALL IT.

The thing with Harvey Norman Windows notebook - I have gotten discount from them twice BUT then cannot opt for 0% installment plan. Can only opt for 0% Installment Plan if pay RRP price.

I just posted below at my facebook page:

WTF is wrong with Maybank, I just got back home and found out from you guys that effective 1st August 2015, the once a upon a time wonderful Maybankard 2 Card AMEX 5% weekend cash back has been downgrade to DINING only!!!

Luckily I did not accept Harimau Bank's offer to be their Credit Card Specialist Head with designated Grade X1 back on 1st April 2015. Or else you guys may assumed that I have something to do with the downgraded benefits of Maybank's credit cards. If you miss the story and really got nothing better to do, click here to read my April Fools Day article.

Well, 5% cash back for dining not that bad as most of us take our family out on weekends.

So for those of you guys who need a credit card for Petrol and Groceries, the good news is Maybank still have 2 other cards that will give you 5% cash back.

Click the link below to read my review of the FREE FOR LIFE Maybank Islamic MasterCard Ikhwan Platinum or Gold:

http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2014/10...ard-ikhwan.html

and if you need FREE access to Plaza Premium Lounge (also please refer to my earlier post below), check out my review of the Maybank Visa Signature where the annual fee is auto waived with RM30K spending:

http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2014/07...re-another.html

You might also now want to consider AEON Watami Visa Credit Card that will earn you 3% cash back for any transactions subject to terms and conditions. Click the link below to learn more:

http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2013/11...-card-that.html

Anyway, those of us who have been holding Maybankard 2 AMEX since 2011, some of you would have earned more than RM2K cash back in the last 4 years biggrin.gif

must key into the Browser Address Bar or go to Visa Malaysia website and click on the link there.

Don't click on any other links provided - initially I provided the link at my blog but error message when someone click it. I then entered it directly into address bar and it works!
