Well, they DID say that every episode will match the length & quality of a fully-fledged AAA titles

which makes me wonder - what if they release a disc compilation in the future? Will double-layered blu-ray disc sufficed?

They know most FF7 die-hard fans is easily >30 years old now and can afford that kinda of money.

Imagine how many ppl will buy the Collectors Edition. And 3 times some more. Can easily do Aerith, Squall, and Sephiroth figurine for each episode respectively

the most they can do is add additional content and side quest, but story more or less will stay the same.

They already decided to milk it when they start to do The Compilation of FF7 - Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core etc.

If price is such a big issue, then just wait until all 3 episodes are out. By the time they are done with the entire game, ep1 and 2 would be diet cheap.

You've already waited for the game for 11 years since the ps3 tech demo. What's the difference in waiting for another 10 more?

Following the tidbit of information for Final Fantasy VII Remake revealed at MAGIC 2017, director Tetsuya Nomura clarified some small details in an interview in Weekly Famitsu regarding the game's combat system.

“Battles are not command-based, they’re action-based. Regarding cover actions, there are places where they can be done on the map, but they are not required. Because it’s seamless, I showed that there can be actions in response to various scenes.

“The Guard Scorpion battle has map destruction and a great number of attacks that weren’t in the original, so it has become a significantly flashy battle. If you look closely, I think that you can see that there are a number of missiles are coming down.”

In my assumption

There will be 4 episodes
-Episode 1 will covers Midgar arc until they reached Kalm village
-Episode 2 will cover from Kalm to Aerith's death
-Episode 3 will cover from the ancient place until they release the Weapon, Ultima Weapon as final boss
-Episode 4 is will started from the point where Tifa help Cloud recovering his memories and the final battle with Sephiroth.

If each episode can provide content that lasts as one full game then likely will be full priced. Question is how to compare? God of war lasts 10 hrs or less and full price. FF series lasts 50+ hrs also full price.

Don't worry too much bout price and the fact they call it episode just makes us thinks it's a short game. Case in point Last of Us Part 1 is full price but actually only part of a game since it's called part 1 (part 2 just announced. )

It's funny when people say FF7 episodic failed, but little did they know the original FF7 was episodic to begin with, with pre-main storyline + post movie and also side character story (which translated into dlc in this new gaming era).  + if the game were to be created like FF15, do 1 think that they could take he same amount of time to run from 1 end of migar to another end same like the original FF7?

Well for one I agree with the episodic release.

But... the movie and the spin-off games were not even written originally. Squeenix just pulled those content out of their ass because they saw how deep that gold mine was for the franchise.

And let's face it.. the movie, plot wise - sucked.
Crisis Core was pretty decent, I'll give them that. But Dirge of Ceberus? What's the point of that game anyways? Because fangirls wanted more of Vincent? And those mobile games.. uh, what?

Well, that because there is too many loophole in FF7. DoC , before crisis and crisis core are more like a DLC to cover up the loophole. Hopefully this upcoming remake don't just follow the exact original FF7.
And yeah, crisis core pretty decent i can say (emotionally attached to it)  .
