QUOTE(retsmot @ Mar 20 2005, 09:36 AM) 20/3/05 log: Don't think upgrading will work, I'm on 1mb and it still lags when TMnet screws up. anyone still lagging? i'm still getting 1500ms average these days.....sigh. wonder when will it be solved... any of u think if i go upgrade my line from 512 to 1mb streamyx package will improve the performance or give me a diffrent set of ip other than the 219.x one? 219.xxx suddenly didn't work for me, so I just restarted my modem a few times, finally got 218.xxx. 300 latency in game |

I have a D-Link DSL-300G. Is there a faster way than the on/off switch to reboot the modem to try and get the 218.* range of IPs.. maybe from the Web control panel?
Simply disconnecting and reconnecting the connection only seems to keep me stuck in the 219.* range. |

I logged in today morning and the pings seems to be back to normal.....
Few things I believe that causes high pings (latency) over the last weeks: - high pings to 12.xxx.xxx.xxx networks. This could be either that network have some issues or our ISP (Streamyx in this case) as problems connecting with that network.. - Latency within WoW. This latency, I believe is still there. You might get around 600ms pings to the WoW servers but once you're in the game, the ping shot up to around 1.2kms. I don't think both of these problems can be solved by 'tweaking' the client end (your PC). We'll just have to wait this out....... it will get solved eventually. |

I was getting about 1.5k ms latency yesterday on both the 219.95 and 219.94 even nowadays. The only solution is to get that elusive 218.210 range or IP.. i think it's 218.210 or 210.218.. can't remember the exact ones but it's not the 219.x series.
Anyhow your trace would not reach their network as they have probably filtered trace packets. |

Usually remote not respond is because the streamyx in that area is down. Switch down or something. I can't recall. You'll have to wait it out as they are fixing it. If not just call in and lodge a report so they know about it. If you're lucky, it'll be back in no time. If not, wait for next day.
Guess I'm going to try a few times tonight to get that elusive 218 range again. 219 range is not working for me at all. 1k-2k pings constant. Its always good in the morning. That's when I check my auctions. But when I reach home to play at night, its the same old story. |

I've notice from the above tracert listing, these 2 IPs shows significant jump in latency :
222 ms 221 ms 222 ms 219.93.153.150 1184 ms 1184 ms 1180 ms 12.119.139.37 219.93.153.150 belongs to TMNET as listed below from APNIC : inetnum: 219.93.152.0 - 219.93.183.255 netname: INFRA-TMNET descr: TMNET country: MY admin-c: TA35-AP tech-c: TA35-AP mnt-by: TM-NET-AP changed: aizan98@tm.net.my 20040409 status: ASSIGNED NON-PORTABLE source: APNIC 12.119.139.37 belongs to AT&T Worldnet as listed below from ARIN : AT&T WorldNet Services ATT (NET-12-0-0-0-1) 12.0.0.0 - 12.255.255.255 AT&T Worldnet Services ATTSVI-12-112-0-0 (NET-12-112-0-0-1) 12.112.0.0 - 12.119.255.255 Blizzard's World of Warcraft is hosted in Worldnet using the following IP ranges : Blizzard Entertainment ATTENS-008916-004056 (NET-12-129-232-0-1) 12.129.232.0 - 12.129.233.255 From the above info, we can see that the major lag comes from AT&T Worldnet ISP. There is minimal lag from within Streamyx IP ranges until it hit 219.93.153.150, which I believe is the gateway that connects to the Worldnet networks. The spike starts when we hit 12.119.139.37, which is the portal into Worldnet from Streamyx. From the traceroute listed by you guys, I believe the problem lies in between these 2 IPs, what I don't know. In game, the ping hits more than double the pings listed in the traceroutes. This suggest that there are additional lag coming from within Blizzard's network. Unfortunately we cannot determine whether its the hardware or software related problems since IPs within Blizzard's network is blocked. There are other Streamyx users playing WoW that claims that they have no problem with lag and some say that if they can connect to 218.xxx.xxx.xxx IP the lag is minimal. Can these Streamyx users playing WoW who have no problem with lag (eg 400- 700ms ingame) help us out by doing a traceroute to us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com (tracert us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com) and list it here for us to digest and analyze, Please? |
