For those who are interested, below are the settings in my hypptv using youtube v11.29.55

Google Play Services v9.4.52
PlayStore v6.9.15
Youtube v11.29.55 (dpi 320)

If after installation, youtube videos show error "Connection to Server lost. Touch to Retry"

a) temporarily change the network configuration
  - set network IP to static.
  - set DNS1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS2 to 8.8.4.4

b) click "clear data" button for running google services
  - google play services
  - google framework
  - youtube

Youtube should work after this.
Change (a) back to DHCP.

If I'm hardworking, I will try yours. I'm using the one shared earlier by fellow forummer and it plays instantly after APK is installed. No need to do any extra step or facing with any error.

Btw, have you tried watching live stream on youtube with that Android TV youtube app? It says server error 
When i tried to watch the same live stream on PC or other TV box it's okay.

Maybe it's time to switch app or even switch box...haha

Hyptv white box is one of the good android set top box. The minus point is the small storage only. For me, i have bunch of apps installed. Good enough for me to cut the 'cable'...

Hahaha...I got another android TV box (Nexus Player). I play with this huawei box for fun...maybe can try the mobile version...but like you say...lazy ne.
