Yes, you are correct. I can confirm this with trying to play 1080p video on YouTube app and it just not not playing the video but can hear the audio in the background only.

But this contradicts with the option in the Settings page where we can select 1080p@60, 1080p@50, 1080i@60, etc...
*
At least you can hear, I don't even have the option for 1080p. laugh.gif

fruitie,
There is no option for me to choose 1080p on YouTube app also (I'm assuming you are using the default YouTube app that comes with the box?). Mine is using YouTube for Android TV.

No, I'm not using the default app that came with the box. I'm using the one shared earlier by fellow forummer. No selection for 1080p, highest is only 720p.

Ok. Then that shows us that the STB IS really only up to 720p.
Sigh...very sad.
The MALI400 can support 1080 easily, but why hardcode it to only 720p on their Android 4.4.2?

Well, it is free stuff, don't ask for a lot. laugh.gif I'm quite happy with it already. laugh.gif
I'm more sad that it comes with KitKat, even JellyBean is fine with me... Now cannot install stuff on external storage...

Basically you just need to install ES File Explorer and then you will sideload APKs from there. If you manage to install that app, then it's good enough.

If it works and it suits your need why not? I think this is a mobile version.
There's another version for android TV.

To me, TV is just mobile phone in horizontal position.

As long as the app can play videos in 720p fullscreen.

Yes, you can put it that way.
For me I prefer the android TV version as it's easy to navigate using a remote controller.

I use a wireless mouse to navigate.

For those who are interested, below are the settings in my hypptv using youtube v11.29.55

Google Play Services v9.4.52
PlayStore v6.9.15
Youtube v11.29.55 (dpi 320)

If after installation, youtube videos show error "Connection to Server lost. Touch to Retry"

a) temporarily change the network configuration
- set network IP to static.
- set DNS1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS2 to 8.8.4.4

b) click "clear data" button for running google services
- google play services
- google framework
- youtube

Youtube should work after this.
Change (a) back to DHCP.
