From my understanding, come Nov 2016 is considered as first year and every True by AmBank debit MasterCard will get their annual fee automatically waived next month. They will only start charging annual fee from Nov 2017.

*
Went to the branch to ask how they define the '1st year " fee waiver ie 1st year from issue of the new ATM cum debit card or 1st year from the date the account was open ?

BM also not sure, so called HQ , after long time talking on the phone, she said... 1st year free is from date of opening of account . So, for me, fee will be chargeable by early Nov when it will considered as going into year 2.

So, yeah, going to close account tomorrow.

Anyway, according to the email they sent to all True by AmBank customers. If your True by AmBank debit MasterCard is also linked to a non-fee basic savings account, the annual fee for the debit card will be waived. So, if you must use this True by AmBank account and do not want to pay for the debit card annual fee, you might want to consider opening a basic savings account and link it to your True by AmBank debit MasterCard.
Standard Chartered is not for everyone due to limited branch presence.

That's y they offer free MEPS withdrawal as long as u bank in fresh fund of 1500

The calculative ones still don't want it because withdrawing at a local bank's ATM will incur an upfront cost of RM4.24. I don't understand why but I guess they have their reasons. And of course another reason is because many think from their point of view that everyone lives in the city but there are still many who don't and the closest Standard Chartered Bank branch is probably an hour away. If anything goes wrong with the account and for whatever reason they must settle it at a physical branch, all the so-called savings is probably gone with just a return trip to the branch office. So yeah, Standard Chartered is not for everyone.

I thought you need to maintain min RM20 in the True save account which is linked to True Transact.
If so, they can deduct from the true save acct
i tried withdraw via atm or online..die die must maintain the RM20.

Just transfer to true transact, then transfer it out. That's how I make both of them RM0.

I got a different black and white reply from AmBank. From the reply i received, come Nov 2016 is considered as first year (as i said in my earlier post) for those who opened the True by AmBank before Nov 2016 or in Nov 2016. Nov 2017 is considered as second year.

Customer retention for credit card ? Yes. Customer retention for company current account ? Yes. Customer retention for corporate account ? Yes. Customer retention for PB customer ? Yes but even this is rare. Customer retention for savings account ? No. It's not just AmBank but pretty much all banks do not give a hoot.

Recommend you use SCB for withdrawing instead of ambank. Just need to put rm1500 inside SCB Just One (not sure SA/current). After that just transfer it out since SCB JustOne have free IBFT and IBG.

Must transfer to current account. Rm1500 fresh fund is just to give u free meps withdrawal. If u don need that, u no need to bank in 1500.

Free IBFT n IBG is the feature without tnc

Ok, both of you are talking about JustOne Personal Account (https://www.sc.com/my/save/savings-justone-personal.html).

1. So, does Standard Chartered offer Basic Saving Account? Correct me if I am wrong, perhaps, this Basic Saving Account does not have free IBG and IBFT.

2. How does free IBG and IBFT work? Which one is correct?
a) When we use SC online website to transfer money via IBG or IBFT, no fee is being charged. Or,
b) IBG or IBFT fee is being charged, at the point of transfer. But, the fee will be refunded, by the end of the month.

3. Do we need to pay annual fee for JustOne Personal Account, if we choose to have the debit card?

4. What is the minimum amount of money needed to open this saving account?

5. What is the minimum balance that must be maintained for this saving account, without incurring any penalty fee?

6. When I open JustOne Personal Account, I will have both JustOne Personal Savings Account and JustOne Personal Current Account, with separate account number, right?

7. If I only need free IBFT without free ATM MEPS withdrawal, I do not need to transfer RM 1500 to JustOne Personal Current Account, right?

Thank you for the information. rclxms.gif

1. All banks have that (Basic Saving Account). From what the bank officer told me, most of Standard Chartered accounts have free transfer. But I choose JustOne as it is mentioned in their features.

2a) When we use SC online website to transfer money via IBG or IBFT, no fee is being charged.

3. Nope. Account is FOC even with debit card.

4. They told me RM1500 but I managed with RM200. Someone even managed with RM0. rclxms.gif

5. RM0

6. Yes. Thats's right

7. No need. Just transfer money from JustOne Personal Savings Account > JustOne Personal Current Account and IBFT out from there.

Thank you for your informative reply, AIYH and Ramjade.

1. So, we cannot open just JustOne Personal Savings Account, right? In other words, it is a combo account, similar to Ambank True Savers and True Transact Account.

2. Which account should I transfer money from, to get free IBG and IBFT? JustOne Personal Savings Account, or JustOne Personal Current Account, or both of them?

3. JustOne Personal Current Account is not really current account, right? In other words, we do not get a chequebook for this current account.

For real current account, a half yearly service fee of RM10.60 is levied on current accounts, if the minimum monthly average balance falls below RM1,000 from 1 Jan to 30 Jun and 1 Jul to 31 Dec. I hope that the half yearly service fee is not applicable to JustOne Personal Current Account.

4. As long as we keep JustOne Personal Account active (at least one transaction per year), there is no other fee we should pay, right?

If that is really the case, it is really a fuss-free saving account, for us to enjoy free IBFT. rclxm9.gif

Thanks again. thumbup.gif

1. Yup. It's a combo.

2. To be safe JustOne Personal Current Account. I forgot already whether the JustOne Personal Savings Account have free IBG/IBFT.

3. Actually it is. You can get a cheque book if you asked for it. shocking.gif The bank worker asked me "Do you want a chequebook for your account?" shocking.gif

4. That's right.

Yeah, I agree with you, Ramjade. We only want free IBFT. Getting a chequebook we do not want is pointless. And, it is risky, if we accidentally lose the chequebook.

Free IBG and IBFT is always there whether or not you make a deposit into your JustOne Personal Current Account.
