So far I am satisfied the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 monitor but it will be even perfect if Samsung did a small apps that can control the Local Dimming auto on / off as to me the local dimming is better off when do productivity task like documentation and browsing internet when set monitor as HDR on. But local dimming should be on to get absolute awesome output when play video and gaming especially HDR format.

I do did some adjustment to make it look to what I prefer for setup "Use HDR" On in Windows 11 Display setting. 😅

- Refresh Rate 240 (original default 120)
- Brightness 84 (original default 100)
- Contrast 75 (original default 75)
- Sharpness 60 (original default 60)
- Picture Mode HDR Standard (original default HDR Standard)
- Red 47 (original default 50)
- Green 52 (original default 50)
- Blue 49 (original default 50)

and as all reviewer point out. Samsung provide you a Display Port cable that cannot handle 240Hz, your screen will keep distortion and blinking. 🤔😅

Lucky I got my own Display Port cable and it can handle 240Hz perfectly.

Yes, allow. I do check before payment, but their unit at warehouse, so if unlucky the unit they bring over to shop got issue, then you need to wait for next day for them to bring over another unit.

Lucky the unit they bring over to shop for me is perfect and no issue.

Finally I solved the SDR content brightness in Windows 11 when setting up this Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 monitor by following this user prefer setting by changing the value from 40 to 55.
Now it no longer look dull even with Local Dimming set as Auto.

I no need change the value in my previous monitor but this I need to else it look too dark and sometimes dull.

Edit: Finally I had complete tune this monitor and now I am satisfied! 🥰

I still found the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 still very wrong and yes as suspected Local Dimming is the Big Culprit!
Basically Local Dimming only run perfectly great when watching movie. Other time it just making everything look worst and eye hurt.

In gaming, most games don't look right when turn on Local Dimming, everything is just way too dark and black crush. Also in dark scenes green color mostly became dark grey as well. What!

In Desktop Productivity, it is totally useless and hurt eye with too dark in dark theme and too bright in bright theme and they is even a yellowish outline surrounding with white image. Sometimes even mouse cursor appear grow issue in dark background.

So I am off Local Dimming as it just make the screen look worst most the time and will only turn on when watching movie especially HDR movie.

Lucky Samsung provide control of Local Dimming and can off it anytime. This monitor is FALD with crazy high 2048 local dimming zone but it still not good...

As for VRR Control I decide to off as it impact to certain games and it is basically not helping anything in Windows gaming.

Here my latest preset where I revert back the Windows SDR content brightness setting. Now I finally satisfied with it and it finally look as great as my previous LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor 34" 34GN850 with even stunning HDR output.

Hi folks.

I am keen on a 'new' Dell monitor but it is a DFO set.
I got to know that DFO is factory-refurbished.
I was told that the quality and warranty are the same as those of a brand new set.

The DFO price is about RM200 cheaper than a brand new one.

Any feedback or risk in buying a DFO unit?

Thanks.

DFO means the set is return back to manufacturer and it could be defective items in the unit where need some part replacement. It is gambling as you will not know how serious they are or maybe nothing.

RM 200 reduce is very little, you probably can get such price from Shopee, Lazada and etc.

I will not pick the DFO set if the discount is only RM 200 as RM 200 is not worth for the gambling. Also that refurbished sticker might be issue in future if you ever plan for selling it.
