All great until you see the resolution 1080P only, and no g-sync  sad.gif
*
Ya, real sad.
I don't mind freesync but AMD GPU is overpriced but Gsync monitor more expensive. Cannot have the best of both worlds. Sigh.
I wonder if 1080p means bigger pixel if we sit close to the monitor?

I am curious. 1440p resolution is definitely sharper than 1080 on a widescreen, but aren't the words and pictures on the screen smaller?

Ya but you can adjust scaling in Windows.
*
So this means, i could configure it to be of the same size between both of these 2 monitors, but with sharper resolution?

Not really sure if the LG 29UM6x is available locally. Saw it in UK online stores but unfortunately not here. As for the 5 series, I guess it's ok as it runs 75hz natively however, HDMI has it limitations as compared to DP. The 6 series has DP port tho hence it's gaming built.
*
I was made to understand that 29UM59A replaces 29UM68

Not really the case brother. If you notice 5 series only has HDMI while 6 series has DP which is geared towards gaming. Anyhow, 29UM59A seems to be a good deal.
*
I wouldn't disagree with you. The challenge is that 29UM68 is no longer in the market or is it?
And you are right, 29UM59A doesn't have any DP, so I am not sure how it could replace 29UM68.

Yep small a lot, if you don't have smaller font, then get 1080p enough.

IMO no point getting 1440p and later scaling as once you scale, you area in 1080p  workplace already and not all apps support proper scaling.
*
Great input bro. This means that I should stick with the given real estate of the monitor (use 1080p if the monitor is 1080p and use 1440p if the monitor is 1440p) and I shouldn't scale it?
I read in another thread where you have 'unconverted' from 1440p back to 1080p?

Ah Okok. That makes sense, since the previous 59 doesn't have FreeSync.
*
I also read that 59A replaces 68 but 59A do not have DP (68 has DP), plus 6 series is more towards gaming.

When 68 was still available (a few months back), it costs around RM1k with FreeSync.
2k is not worth the current price unless you want to get it as a rare model since 68 is no longer in the market?

If 59A comes with G-sync, the price will definitely be another RM400 I suppose, since G-sync is proprietary and requires an embedded chip.

I think I'm just gonna get the 59A la, can save so much money laugh.gif

59A has no Display Port but 68 does. So you need to have a converter or a USB universal docking station if you need to connect using Display Port, as advised by a forumer here. Otherwise, use HDMI etc.

yeah bro! it's a great alternative! Too bad I sold my LG29UM68p 3 months ago biggrin.gif I knew someone who has a Z35P then went back to X34A, after a few weeks, he purchased an Alienware haha! The perks of living in the US. He got the Alienware for $950  bangwall.gif  rclxms.gif
*
You sold 68p and bought which one as a replacement?
Why did he go back to X34A?
Alienware desktop or laptop?

Got the Crossover 3412UM. My friend returned the X34a because it is still returnable under 30 days then bought the Dell Alienware with all the X34a features except it can be OCd to 120hz. it's only $950 during Black Friday sale.
*
I think it is difficult to compare with your friend since the pricing and availability of that monitor is different from those of us in Malaysia. Did you import Crossover 3412UM to Malaysia or are you based elsewhere? How much did you pay for it, and the import tax?

I see, in real world, z35p is better (price / usage)

Because i am going to use for gaming, movie and productivity..

I see x34a is almost similarly priced with z35p..
*
All these models (including PG348Q) have minimum prices of RM4k+?

If my GPU is Nvidia, I will not be able to use the FreeSync feature of a monitor, since FreeSync is only for AMD GPUs. Am i right?

If I am not buying a GSync monitor, then there would be no difference between buying a monitor without any GSync or FreeSync, vs a monitor with FreeSync only. Am I right?

yes. i think.

so go get 144hz monitor.  laugh.gif

Good to hear that.
If I want to use a 144hz monitor, does the type of GPU matter? For example, if I use GTX 1060 6Gb?

I know that G-sync and Freesync is to synchronize the output speed from the GPU with the monitor, especially for gaming to avoid stuttering etc. If I am getting a monitor without any G-sync and Freesync, how bad would the stuttering etc be? I am not a super heavy gamer but I hope to play AAA games once a while.

Any 30+ inches Widescreen which is costs around RM2k plus? Curved screen, IPS and Gsync are not required but I am sure if we are to includes these, it will cost RM4k plus minimum.

As craxors suggested
That monitor doesn't have g sync, only free sync
But cost 2k plus a bit only
Quite a steal if u don't need g sync

If need gsync then there is the x34p, PG348Q, aw3418dw, z35p
*
Thanks craxors and neverfap.
The LG 34uc79g sounds tempting since it has IPS but no Gsync (which I don't really mind) at RM2000.
The rest is at >RM3500.
However, this cheaper 34 inch uw monitor 34uc79g has only a resolution of 1080p. Is it going to be very obvious, in terms of seeing the pixels? I guess nothing comes cheap huh?

3440 x 1440 will be crispier than 2560 x 1080 for sure.
Best advice is to try it out in store before buying it smile.gif
*
Ya, technically it should be sharper.
I am trying to convince myself if I really need this sharpness and whether I could live with 1080p on a bigger screen.

QUOTE(craxors @ Jul 19 2018, 09:31 PM)
we did discuss this before...  smile.gif

can refer this link.

We did? You mean you and me? Oh, you mean you and abang Andrew?
I think i saw the posts some time ago (but I read them again, as per your suggestion today). There are indeed differences but what the eyes see (then interpreted by the brain) and what the camera sees (then displayed as an image before being viewed by the eyes) are different. I think it is very subjective and I have to see it myself. That said, I doubt I will know it just by viewing at the shop... and I have to buy (or loan, anybody?) one for some time and see if I can accept it (which by that time, it is too late if i bought it already). Sigh

1080p UW will be easier for your GPU to process. Something to consider as well. Can always upgrade later 🤣
*
Thanks for the advice.
Your monitor is a X34A? 3440 X 1440? I believe you have transitioned from 1080p to 1440p? Was it a better experience? I mean sharper image but smaller objects since you have a bigger screen?

Upgrade later.. the monitor or the GPU?
