DFO means the set is return back to manufacturer and it could be defective items in the unit where need some part replacement. It is gambling as you will not know how serious they are or maybe nothing.

RM 200 reduce is very little, you probably can get such price from Shopee, Lazada and etc.

I will not pick the DFO set if the discount is only RM 200 as RM 200 is not worth for the gambling. Also that refurbished sticker might be issue in future if you ever plan for selling it.

Thanks so much for your reply. I got what you mean.

Actually, I am looking for a 2nd monitor, being used as a horizontal monitor.
27 inch.
WQHD (2560 x 1440).
Not for gaming.

Ideally, it should come with a stand that allows me to pivot or rotate it 90 degrees because I don't want to get a separate VESA stand or arm.

Is it possible to get it at around RM1,000?

(I also posted this in the LCD thread).

Normally with stand that can rotate to Portrait mode is cost more than RM 1,000.00 for QHD screen.

For your information, 2560x1440 is QHD not WQHD.
  • QHD (Quad High Resolution) - 16:9 aspect ratio, 2560x1440 resolution, Wide
  • WQHD (Wide Quad High Resolution) - 21:9 aspect ratio, 3440x1440 resolution, Ultrawide
  • DQHD (Double Quad High Resolution) - 32:9 aspect ratio, 5120x1440 resolution, Super Ultrawide

Many thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.

I read from the web that 2560x1440 is called both QHD and WQHD. WQHD is used more often to differentiate it from qHD (a different resolution).
Also, 3440x1440 is called UWQHD.
Which source should we refer to, for the proper terminologies?

The 2560x1440 is call Wide Screen but resolution is call QHD. (Quad High Definition). This is the correct term. Those label it as WQHD is very wrong.

For 3440x1440 is call Ultrawide screen but resolution is call WQHD (Wide Quad High Definition)

And 5120x1440 is call Super Ultrawide Screen or Dual Wide Screen but resolution is call DQHD. (Dual Quad High Definition). This some do call it 5k2k but it is not so correct basically. 😅

Guys, need some opinion on getting a new main monitor. Time to use my Viewsonic XG2703-GS as secondary monitor.

I am looking for 38" or min 34", use it primarily for office works and gaming.

Did some googling and shortlisted Dell AW3821DW and LG 38GN950-B. Any opinion on this? Or other better suggestion.

Thank you.

I still found the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 still very wrong and yes as suspected Local Dimming is the Big Culprit!
Basically Local Dimming only run perfectly great when watching movie. Other time it just making everything look worst and eye hurt.

In gaming, most games don't look right when turn on Local Dimming, everything is just way too dark and black crush. Also in dark scenes green color mostly became dark grey as well. What!

In Desktop Productivity, it is totally useless and hurt eye with too dark in dark theme and too bright in bright theme and they is even a yellowish outline surrounding with white image. Sometimes even mouse cursor appear grow issue in dark background.

So I am off Local Dimming as it just make the screen look worst most the time and will only turn on when watching movie especially HDR movie.

Lucky Samsung provide control of Local Dimming and can off it anytime. This monitor is FALD with crazy high 2048 local dimming zone but it still not good...

As for VRR Control I decide to off as it impact to certain games and it is basically not helping anything in Windows gaming.

Here my latest preset where I revert back the Windows SDR content brightness setting. Now I finally satisfied with it and it finally look as great as my previous LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor 34" 34GN850 with even stunning HDR output.

Yesterday I just go read what is VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and later I turn it to ON.

Wow! In future if anyone using Nvidia GPU and plan to get new monitor for gaming.
Must get monitor which support VRR + G-Sync.

With VRR Control set to ON, you can turn off all games setting of V-Sync.
They is no more input lag issue due to games V-Sync and thanks to VRR, it is totally removed all tearing issue and flickering issue as well.

Only G-Sync is not enough as tearing still occured and need V-Sync and V-Sync cause input lag.

VRR is the solution Nvidia made to totally eliminate this issue. 😊

I more and more love this monitor now. 🥰

OLED is not for me yet, wait for better version. tongue.gif

I today go check around and notice OLED only came with glossy surface, this is somehow buzz me. TV I am ok with glossy as we seat far but monitor I seat very closed and I not so fans of glossy.

Truly hope they is soft matte surface version in future, or at least it solve the purple fridge issue. I cannot accept purple fridge at wording as I seat closer to monitor and that will be very obvious to me. 😅

Was looking at the same options, until Just It in Brem Mall quoted me RM4400 for the Acer X38S. Freesync functions from my RX6800 seems to work just fine with it, despite it being a G-sync Ultimate monitor.

Was using a Philips 346B, which I now gave to the wife.

Yalo, crazy high price now, keep increasing and great to know you get full refund. 😊

Maybe you should wait Samsung release, see whether Samsung tune it better or not.

Ya Samsung QD-OLED for monitor using diamond pattern is not good, maybe no issue on 2160p TV but issue on 1440p for PC monitor.

Or hope LG success out another gen of OLED which much suitable for PC monitor functions. 😅

This is wide screen monitor not Ultrawide.

Armageddon is not very well known and no review to check. From spec it is a very normal and nothing spectacular spec,
