Hi, I plan to upgrade my monitor. Which below is worth to buy. Can't decide.

Alienware 34" AW3423DW QD-OLED (3440 x 1440, 175Hz) or Samsung 49" Odyssey Neo G9 mini-LED (5120 x 1440, 240Hz)

I want Alienware 34" AW3423DW QD-OLED because it is OLED and OLED did brilliant in HDR but I seen many review said 2 big cons on this QD-OLED, one of it is frigging issue on wording (this I am very worried and I may not like it), 2nd this monitor got fans! and it is running all time and reviewer said you can heard the fans!!! and I already got LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor 34" 34GN850 3440x1440 144hz (160hz OC) NanoIPS HDR monitor.

I want Samsung 49" Odyssey Neo G9 mini-LED (5120 x 1440, 240Hz) because I never try Super Ultrawide before but it is mini-LED only not OLED but review said it seems very well done and this monitor had great HDR performance as well.

After seen more review on Samsung 49" Odyssey Neo G9, I think I am out for getting Samsung 49" Odyssey Neo G9. Those issue is totally not acceptable for such price. It is disaster.

But I want this monitor but the issue is surely bugging me especially the horizontal bands issue. 4 months is over, is it being fixed all mentioned issue in latest firmware which is ver 1011.0 now?. Anyone own it can answer this? Thanks.

Ask you since you own this monitor. I original plan to buy this but now I am not sure after reading the review.

1) Is the fans is loud and noticeable. I at aircon room.
2) Is the wording less sharp and with frigging issue.
3) Is the reflection very bad.
4) Is the black not very black due to missing polarize layer where it show grey in certain lightning condition even though this is OLED where black suppose very black.

Also I notice yours one is broken, did it get replace already? This make me more worried.

Today I received the monitor, on the same day price dropped to RM1699 ...

Not sure can get discount or not after received the monitor, credit card also charged already.

So glad I placed my order when the price is 4999

1. Can't hear unless i turn to back and purposely hear it. Aircond room doesn't mean is silent, your aircond blower is noisier when in medium/high speed.
2. This one i can confirmed. Wording not as sharp as my IPS, fringing edge in high contrast text display, at least noticeable for me.
3. I don't have issue from reflection
4. The screen indeed look grey when turn off with strong ambient light, but if turn ON i don't see any problem.

Yes, mine was broken, called for replacement 2 weeks ago, however the order was delayed by daily basis for 2 weeks.
Last week i called to cancel the replacement and ask for full refund, so Dell will collect it by next week, the end of my QD-LED journey.

Will order again perhaps in the future when price drop <RM5000, sad.

The overall experience of DELL customer service also sucks, didn't reply email unless i call, call can drop when on hold or auto reply with closed even still in operating hour, service request can left open without resolution for more than a month (my order cancellation request previously still open up until today).
I don't know, perhaps god know i won't be pleased with Dell and those cons in long run, so just let me taste it for few hours and fail so that i can end my journey here (at least give some good impression to me)

Call the customer service and request credit compensation. Dell got price protection policy.

My AW3423DW priced 5599 when ordered, drop to 4999 after a week, so i just call and they compensate 600 and credit back to my credit card.

Do you know where I can get the details for the price protection policy?

My case is different, the price dropped on the day I received the monitor. If im not mistaken, in ur case, u havent received urs right when the price dropped?

Thanks for the reply, appreciate much, which means nothing much to worried about except the fringing edge issue.

The wording had fringing edge but does it very obvious if my seat distance is one hand arm.

Noticeable when it is 2 fts from eye.

Hmmm... I need to think then. So hope they is sample to let me check as fringing edge probably will annoyed me as I can't accept photo with fringing edge also. 😅

Yes IPS, AW3821DW. Fan non issue, at least under normal use with pc and aircon. I can hear it if everything is off super quiet room if I put my ear just beside the monitor.

I'm actually glad to order at 5599, coz Dell credit me 1k, so I actually paid 4599 😁

I read so many report about this, but I honestly don't see it.

imho fringing/fuzziness only on very fine texts / lines... like working on xls, etc...

should be non issue on photos, videos n games... also when scaling increases should be less evident...

I seldom use for office work but I often surfing internet and chatting using PC.

How is your experience on web browsing. I only concern on this. 😅
Last time when AMOLED start on mobile, people also said got such issue due to diamond pattern. But to me as long it is 1080p resolution mobile screen, I don't find this issue. I know mobile screen is much smaller and less than 8".
But this monitor is 34" and it is only 1440p. Thus I really not sure how it looks. 😅

Others photos, videos and games I know should not have an issue.

Wonder when the promotion will be back, it is increasing price now. 😅

Yeah... I almost bought on day 1... but decided to see in person first lah... I have great acuity on sharpness so this is a concern... although I'd be spending most time on black screen so maybe is less of an issue...

Let's also see who else picks up this qd oled screen for their product line...

I think I cannot accept based on what it show here.
