43" ?, you mean 34" right. 😅 and ya that games is dead. 😂

I superb love this 32:9 aspect ratio monitor, very immersive feel, can't go back anymore. 😅 no issue on usage so far thanks to it 1000r curved.

That Alienware OLED is my first plan for upgrade but after known it purple fridge in text, it is out from my target completely. I am pretty sure cannot accept it as purple fridge at photo I already cannot stand and this is text clarity some more. 😅

HDR gaming is a thing if you are having a great HDR monitor, else you will getting worst than SDR.
Go for at least HDR 600.

HDR TrueBlack 400 is another story and only applicable for OLED panel.

this is seeing is believing kind of thing. HDR wide color gamut makes SDR looks really washed out, and the dynamic brightness of every scene makes everything looks better in terms of depth and details.

and yeah, u need a good HDR monitor/TV to see else just forget about it. Alot ppl watched HDR on those puny TV or monitor without local dimming, low brightness and say HDR sucks and not worth time and bad mouth about HDR, they really eat their own shit.

I can say OLED really give the best HDR experience. waiting OLED C2 42inch to come or more mini LED monitor coming mainstream, driving the cost down.

Actually local dimming is not that important, I find it is over exaggerated. My monitor now got 2048 local dimming, it is FALD panel, turn on do look nice to be mimic more like OLED as true black is black but they is some compromise where sometimes it is over black, turn off not means it look bad, sometimes it is even better. Also sometimes I find FALD make the bright area crazy bright and some sort of eye hurt in gaming. Another issue FALD make the desktop unusable especially on dark themes as well the halo effect at mouse cursor is deeply annoying. 😅

Local Dimming is not a good technology, how many dimming zone also not enough unless they can make every dot is dimming zone.

I am happy now worth local dimming default off and on manually only if plan to watch video especially HDR video content.

For pure black, still only OLED manage to do it.

i think tat is because odyssey neo G9 local dimming is not really good, saw it on other forum got ppl complain also. If TV, samsung QLED or Sony one are doing decent job, maybe as a TV but not monitor lol.

Seems like nothing is perfect at the moment lol.

I seen nearly all monitor with FALD include Asus that USD $3K monitor with 1024 dimming zone. All same issue. Even latest iPad Pro using miniLED also got this issue.

Halo effect at bright moving object is local dimming characteristics since TV era use as PC monitor.

It is very hard to seen this issue on movie, it run perfectly in my Neo G9 monitor. But this issue is happened when use as PC in Windows productivity usage.

Agreed Neo G9 had many issue in launch and Samsung take too long to settle it, but lucky all is solved in latest firmware and Samsung is putting more effort on QC, mine is manufactured in year 2022 and I am pretty sure it is perfect no dusk issue or line issue that happened in first badge release.

TN panel - nope. No reason to get TN panel anymore nowadays as the only benefits of fast response now many IPS also can achieve. Where TN had many cons for example low contrast, very bad viewing angle, bad color output, low text clarity and etc.

And 27" is not Ultrawide Monitor. You post in wrong thread.

Normal Wide monitor thread below link. All your questioning monitor is wide screen, It is better post at general LCD thread below.

I see, so most likely if use as monitor for productivity is issue, i guess if the moving object is big, probably not much of an issue, this normally movies scene. If gaming also better turn off FALD?

The 2560x1440 is call Wide Screen but resolution is call QHD. (Quad High Definition). This is the correct term. Those label it as WQHD is very wrong.

For 3440x1440 is call Ultrawide screen but resolution is call WQHD (Wide Quad High Definition)

And 5120x1440 is call Super Ultrawide Screen or Dual Wide Screen but resolution is call DQHD. (Dual Quad High Definition). This some do call it 5k2k but it is not so correct basically. 😅
*
5120 x 1440 is not 5k2k. 5k2k is 5120 x 2160

I know is not real 5K2K. This is what marketing call now. That why I also highlight it is wrong basically.
But you call 2160p as 2K is totally truly wrong as that is 4K.

They always call 1080p 1K, 1440p 2K, 2160p 4K, 5120p 5K.
I am not the one decide this term.

Your monitor LG call it 5K2K is some how downgrade name. It should be 5K4K.

To be exact correct, should be follow the vertical resolution. So your new monitor should be name as 2160p+ where my new monitor should name as 1440p+. This is more correct to me. Those KKK never correct.

No, I never saw 5120 x 1440 being marketed as 5k2k.

You got it wrong for 5K4K. That would be 5120 x 3840 pixels.

2k is around 2k pixels on horizontal
4k is around 4k pixels on horizontal
8k is around 8k pixels on horizontal

It should be based on vertical resolution.

4K is 3040x2160
5K is 5120x2880

None of monitor we own is reach 5K resolution and it should not call it as 5K.

When you Google, some call 32:9 49" as 5K2K, some also call 40" 21:9 as 5K2K. All is wrong and I never said it is correct in my comment.

The correct way is call the exact resolution.
