I think if pay above S$2.5K and above, the chances of getting PR is very high. I would be seekin job as fresh grads, so normally how much is offered to fresh grads? Does they count industrial training as experience too? Hopefully can get offer....

Actually the pay wont b the major consideration for them as wad i thought. Cos some of my frens manage to get PR although their pay under S$2.5k. They mostly will look at type of job u work as in sg, ur education level, working experiences...... It can say all depends on ur luck after u submit the application for PR. Some ppl can get reply in 1 month, some ppl after 3 months also no news.

Anyway sg government just cut down PR's benefit recently, so apply or not it's up to ppl work in sg. For your all information, as what i know Work Permit Holder cant apply PR. Although u got the Rambo spirit, die die wan apply, they also got the Rambo spirit, die die wont give u PR if u're work permit holder.

My info might not be the latest cos sometimes they will change the regulation according to the situation.

yes, I agree with you...
My friends and I can get very fast response from them because we study here. You are right, work permit holder cannot apply for PR. Only S pass holder and above can apply for it.

It is not the $2.5k as the bench mark leh..... read the alucard31 post.
The fresh grad pay is depend on your degree, whether it is recognise by Singapore or not. The average of fresh grad pay for the engineering field is $2.4 k. Some very good of course can get higher pay lah. smile.gif

littleway, i rent a unit in sg wif my frens, so i only go back msia when weekend. This is  because my job will work til damn late most of da time so i cant rili travel between msian and sg, it wil kill me if i do tat.

Normally after u get ur work permit, u are required to work 180 days then only can quit for avoid some leceh stuff. The leceh stuff i refer is they will charge 15%(not sure) of your income if you didnt work enuff 180days in sg then quit. I also not so sure about dis regulation as some ppl did tat, but they didnt kena the charge.

And the work pass is under ur employer name, so after u resign, ur work pass wil be cancel too. There's only 2 special condition:

1) U holding a new type of work pass called PEP, Profesional Employee Pass (sumthing like dis) that u can free from employer when change job  but with many condition. Like ur salary mostly must over S$2,500, u're in those profesional field such as lawyer, doctor, and etc.

2) U r a PR (Permanent Resident) of sg, so u're not required to hold a work pass to work in sg. In order to get PR, it wil b a long and troublesome process. I think if any ppl wanna know dis, better google search for dis, i also not sure about some process in apply PR as i dun plan to apply for now.

icic... i thinks my ex-colleague is holding tht pass... no wonder she can change job so fast ...

perhaps first get a job + work permit (S/Q pass) then apply for PEP later for the future job change and PR application?

isn't study in singapore alot more expensive then in malaysia? how about the idea of working in singapore, while doing distance learning with malaysia programe?

tongue.gif

duh, i'm so going to singapore!

edit: post back the info provided by jeromelee from my redundant thread about SG.

1. Is working in Singapore requires working Visa? Even if we live in Singapore, can we do like JB-er do - go thru custom every 14 days? yes you need to have a working permit and more information can be obtain at
http://app.ica.gov.sg/index.asp

2. Can we bring our car there? yes you can bring your car but the monthly charges will make u think twice with all the toll charges and parking charges. Singapore is so well organize in their transportation system. Why need a car? Unless you are working in malaysia.
http://www.lta.gov.sg

3. What is the other mandatory expenses other than income tax there?
You can borrow the thread to ask about other countries too.

Income tax is a must and it is pretty taxing depending on what working pass you obtain. Employment pass is the best and I suggest you refer to no.1.

2007? now is 2007 lah....

ok i knew a case like this, she was my ex-colleague. now she is in england liao.

she got a biz degree from UK, taken in sg (TMC). she joined our company holding work permit. eventually she manage to become PR. but i am not sure whether her marriage is a factor or not (she married a PR during that period)

like someone said earlier, it's ok if your pay is less than 2.5k but if u hold a degree u still have chance. but the degree must be recognised by sg govt loh whistling.gif

that should be the way lah. should try to settle down 1st. right now plan this plan that worry this worry that, what if end up u cant get used to the life in sg how?

ofcoz it's more expensive since u r paying SGD, but the learning environment and the atmosphere here is more vibrant than JB (i am from JB, dont know KL tho). govt and most of the employers encourage this as well.

for the distant learning part, can do also. but u must be discipline, and need to work harder. another risk is not sure whether your distant learning prog is recognised here.
btw i knew another colleague (an engineer, diff dept, Msian also) has taken distant learning from Unitar few years back, somemore is company sponsored.
