i'm johorian, live sumwhere consider "near" JB (around 30 minutes for car driving). I worked at sg for almost 8 months already. What i can say the main dference of 2 country is the government.

I'm not try to be discuss deep into political field. But indeed, this is the main source make everything so dference. I'm dun giv a damn on those ppl say the ppl work in sg is some sort of wad betrayers la, not love our "malaysia boleh" enuff la, bla bla bla. As every ppl got their freedom to choose a rite path for their future, since this country offer u a better offer, y dun giv it a shot?

I'm not saying about sg is most great country in this world, she got some disadvantages also. nth is perfect. jux like whoever wanna work in sg, the process to get work permit, work pass, employment pass and etc (they dferentiate til quite detail) is quite troublesome. Most of da ppl may get piss off while goin through this process. Anyway, like it or not, u do need it to work in sg.

For me, SG is an ideal place for me to get experiences, learn new and latest things compare to KL. Of coz, not every field may work for dis. That's y i choose SG rather then KL.

so far, this is wad i wanna share wif u all, may write sumthin again when i free. For the ppl wanna come SG work, ya, u need some sum of $$ as u need pay for ur rental (deposit + 1 month rental + agency commision) if u dun have any relative live in sg. N bware that, only legal work pass holder can rent room in sg, other than that, it's consider illegal. So dun get cheated by some irresponsible agent jux wan ur $$.

mostly around 2 - 3 weeks to process all da things.
1st, u get hired, then ur employee apply wadever kind of work pass for u. Then waitin for approval from the ministry of manpower, then u need go for a bodycheck (blood test for HIV and others sickness, X-ray) that will cost u around S$40++. Then after get approval in ur health situation, submit the form again to the department. then waitin their inform for u get the work pass o not. then u need go take pic (adviced that take at the place u get ur work pass) for the work pass then submit again, then around 3-4 days then can get ur work pass. Most of the employee will pay for u for the work pass, some may ask u for 50 - 50. And some crappy boss will ask u pay urself for 100%.

normally, rent a room that near town area is around S$300 for a normal single room. The more far from town area, the cheaper and vice versa. if assume is 300 for a room. Then is 300 + 300 + ?? dpends the agent how charge u. Normally is fixed rate. But i cant rili remember the rate now. sorry.

ok, since i'm free now although stil stucked in the office. i post more info. hehe tongue.gif

Most of the ppl worry about cant speak fluent english then dun dare go sg work. Actually i can tell u dis, except u're enter a big MNC that full wif oversea colleague or the job require u to speak fluent english, other than that i dun think speak english will be a massive drawback for u to work in sg. Not every company in sg are speaking "fluent" english all da time, trust me. Ya, cant be deny that is advisable that u can speak but i dun think is jux workin in sg require u to do so. And speaking such thing, the more u speak the more fluent u wil be, so, dun b afraid, jux speak. Dun feel malu and angry when ppl try to correct ur speaking, listen and learn it. Someday after this, u wil b the ppl try to correct others. flex.gif

Speaking of public transport, for sure, they're lot better then malaysia. Dun b worry of wanna get a car in sg for the sake of working. Their public transport are good, wad time stated got bus, then there are those buses. Wont got wad major delay normally. Some ppl may think wad if i work in sales? need travel a lot daily. OK, there are lot n lot of cabs or taxi out there in sg. And dun worry of being "chopped" coz they only can charge according meters in their taxi. smile.gif

I'm not promote sg to u guys, as i also quite hate their government most of da time vmad.gif . Jux hope share some of my experiences at here can help some ppl answer their doubt. Cheers! wink.gif

littleway, i rent a unit in sg wif my frens, so i only go back msia when weekend. This is because my job will work til damn late most of da time so i cant rili travel between msian and sg, it wil kill me if i do tat.

Normally after u get ur work permit, u are required to work 180 days then only can quit for avoid some leceh stuff. The leceh stuff i refer is they will charge 15%(not sure) of your income if you didnt work enuff 180days in sg then quit. I also not so sure about dis regulation as some ppl did tat, but they didnt kena the charge.

And the work pass is under ur employer name, so after u resign, ur work pass wil be cancel too. There's only 2 special condition:

1) U holding a new type of work pass called PEP, Profesional Employee Pass (sumthing like dis) that u can free from employer when change job but with many condition. Like ur salary mostly must over S$2,500, u're in those profesional field such as lawyer, doctor, and etc.

2) U r a PR (Permanent Resident) of sg, so u're not required to hold a work pass to work in sg. In order to get PR, it wil b a long and troublesome process. I think if any ppl wanna know dis, better google search for dis, i also not sure about some process in apply PR as i dun plan to apply for now.

Actually the pay wont b the major consideration for them as wad i thought. Cos some of my frens manage to get PR although their pay under S$2.5k. They mostly will look at type of job u work as in sg, ur education level, working experiences...... It can say all depends on ur luck after u submit the application for PR. Some ppl can get reply in 1 month, some ppl after 3 months also no news.

Anyway sg government just cut down PR's benefit recently, so apply or not it's up to ppl work in sg. For your all information, as what i know Work Permit Holder cant apply PR. Although u got the Rambo spirit, die die wan apply, they also got the Rambo spirit, die die wont give u PR if u're work permit holder.

My info might not be the latest cos sometimes they will change the regulation according to the situation.

littleway, u can try convert ur work permit to S pass or Employment Pass after u get the work permit and work for a while.

Hi, guys.. i think there's 1 thing i need to clarify, as we also work for someone in sg, we rili duno how much can u get with the experiences and pro- knowledges u have.

i think such info can be collected by using jobstreet or jobsdb as they always do some report for the average salary for each year. Or some company will stated the salary they will offer for some position. I think for the people wanna know how much can they get, they can start research from here.
