NO mah... plan to migrate.. tongue.gif Target Australia one, but my parents sure won't enjoy there, so the best location is Sg... tongue.gif

If I got a degree, can I directly apply for PEP? I read from the MOM websites, PEP starts on 2007 only wor...
*
2007? now is 2007 lah....

ok i knew a case like this, she was my ex-colleague. now she is in england liao.

she got a biz degree from UK, taken in sg (TMC). she joined our company holding work permit. eventually she manage to become PR. but i am not sure whether her marriage is a factor or not (she married a PR during that period)

like someone said earlier, it's ok if your pay is less than 2.5k but if u hold a degree u still have chance. but the degree must be recognised by sg govt loh whistling.gif

perhaps first get a job + work permit (S/Q pass) then apply for PEP later for the future job change and PR application?

isn't study in singapore alot more expensive then in malaysia? how about the idea of working in singapore, while doing distance learning with malaysia programe?

tongue.gif

duh, i'm so going to singapore!

edit: post back the info provided by jeromelee from my redundant thread about SG.
*
that should be the way lah. should try to settle down 1st. right now plan this plan that worry this worry that, what if end up u cant get used to the life in sg how?

ofcoz it's more expensive since u r paying SGD, but the learning environment and the atmosphere here is more vibrant than JB (i am from JB, dont know KL tho). govt and most of the employers encourage this as well.

for the distant learning part, can do also. but u must be discipline, and need to work harder. another risk is not sure whether your distant learning prog is recognised here.
btw i knew another colleague (an engineer, diff dept, Msian also) has taken distant learning from Unitar few years back, somemore is company sponsored.

Although SG more expensive, but nevermind... at least quality is better than any institute in JB can provide. If got company sponsor for study like my uncles company... that would be sOoOOOoOOOo nice.... OMG... when I can have this chance.. laugh.gif
*
the atmosphere also plays a part. in sg u can see ppl reading & studying everywhere. in JB u go study in McD will kena "azapkor" only.....

yeah unless they sponsored u. else i would rather take the distance/e-learning programme offered by KL private instituition. only need to go back to sit for certain exam few times a year.

i've been to singapore as a backpacker. fully understand how the transportation there works after my first day there. compare to KL.... i'm still lost driving my car around KL after 2 years here. sleep.gif"
*
yup.... other than S$, public transport & safety are "attractive" factors also.
public transport can bring u anywhere of the island (take times ofcoz), and u dont have to scare kena rompak when u come back late at night.

not really more expensive, they have grants. gov give out alot grants. Me, i studied in one of the college in kl.. course fee 50k+... my brother doing same course in singapore, finishing soon, after convert back to RM.. less than 20K. So it all depends where u study or what course.
*
u brother must be in local U or Poly, right?

Noobie here. Is it difficult for graduates in mechanical engineering from university science Malaysia to ge a job in Singapore..i worked before with the local Singapore company around two months as production worker.Izzit its will help me to getting a job there easier..??what is the average price for a Malaysia's fresh graduates from mechanical field...
someone can help me ..???Thanks
*
now the market is good. if want to get a job here, better act quick. difficult or not? my advice is "never try never know".

i dont think the experience will help.

last time back in 2001 when i was taking my attachment in a mfg co (semicon industry), they offered fresh grad from UTM S$2.5k
i would say it should be ard S$2k+, but maybe not all companies accept your cert. you have to try you luck.

Dear eurekas & yihyan

Technically speaking, both of you are correct.

U no need to become PR to get the grant. But u have to become a PR to service your 3-years bond after you graduate.

I worked, got my part time degree, bought a hse, married at Spore...
Now I back to KL... and realize I have hard time to adapt the life here, as had been in comfort zone for too long.
So my advise is if u only out to Spore to dig gold, do not stay too long.  Otherwise u'll feel lost and depress when u back here.
*
Hey curious here
Care to share more?
Which part u can't adapt?
And what do u mean by comfort zone?

I must admit I am a lazy person thus Spore does suit me more as she provides comveniency.
I can drive but I dun like to drive thus Spore public transport really helps.  Eatery places are conveniently within walking distance at both working and residential places without scare of snatch or rains as most linkways are sheltered.  Their banks and govt bodies services are so much efficient than KL.  The scenario is they have longer q, but definitely shorter waiting/processing time compared to KL...Btw, most of the bank and govt services could be done via phone or internet.
I dun need to mention Spore broadband/wireless provider as many has elaborated that...Msia Tmnet is just  sweat.gif
And...Spore is cheaper than KL in term of dollar to dollar comparison!

Spore working life is quite versatile. U get to expose to multinational cultural since most companies there are Asia Pac hub.  Many foreigners work there thus equal opputurnity as long as you are outstanding.

Nevertheless, Spore does have their boring part.  Too small the island and u'll really get bored after many weekends there.  The govt is efficient but kinda like Mahathir time - one man say all...but why I care? I am not their citizen.

thanks for sharing smile.gif

Jurong Island is at another island. Transport is provided by the company hires you.

Alexandra Distripark is pretty easy to get around with public transport.
*
There is bus service from Jurong East also, just next to CW3 queue.
But donno is free or not.

Would also want to correct this misconception. You do NOT need to become PR to service your 3-yr bond after graduation. The bond is just that you have to work in Singapore for 3 yrs. You can still be under Employment Pass, if you do not want to apply for PR.

In case someone tries to debate this, I have completed my 3-yr bond, and am still on EP after 6 yrs, since I do NOT have any intention of applying for PR.
*
ok
will keep that in mind
thanks a lot

Calling all brothers and sisters with accounting background.

If you want to land a job in Sg, please do it fast. We need you urgently!!

According to newspapers, there are 20,000 accounting and finance vacancies available here. Flip through Saturday's Recruit, around half of it is finance related. It used to be manufacturing.....

Real life examples:
My sister's employer (SGX listed, STI component), put up recruitment for more than a week, received only 7 applications.
My employer (German MNC), wanted to hire finance staff for more than a month, today kena aeroplane. One shortlisted candidate supposed to come down and sign the offer letter, but she MIA.....

There are a lot more examples, lazy to write all out..........

staying at JB really can save alot???
*
Most of the savings come from rental.
In sg, S$300 give u a room. In JB, S$300 give u a house.
