If you can't even give a or some point to say SG flat is a good investment. Do you still think it is good investment at first place?

for my situation it is not so true....
I am currently looking for jobs in Singapore as well as I will graduate in late May this year.
I had applied for many jobs (fresh graduate) mostly in banking, finance and insurance industry.
Btw i have applied for jobs in Malaysia and i got two offer already. It is not as easy as in Singapore in my opinion because mostly they want Singaporean and PR especially those recruiting agent  mad.gif  (in jobsdb and jobstreet)
cktwai bro,if you can give me some advice or help me as well i will be most grateful, thank you smile.gif

How did you apply for the jobs? Via recruitment agency? If this is the case you can forget it. Recruitment agencies usually want experienced hire.

Think about it. If the company has a good position for fresh grads, what for use recruitment agencies. So many fresh grads each year.

Recruitment agencies are usually used by companies to hire 2 basic types of employees.

1) Those highly skilled ones (i.e. very hard to find someone with the skill sets they want)

2) To help the companies find someone with the skill sets at a lower than market rate. MEaning companies ask these recruitment agencies to look into countries like Phillipines, MAlaysia, Indonesia... to find someone whom they can pay lower salary (as compared to their experience & market rate) and they are actually happy about it. Oh btw, if you're EP the company saves on your CPF as well. smile.gif

Hi awpy1328,

Sorry newbie here about getting a job in SG also. May I ask we should get a "Work Permit" from the employer then may start work rite? Do we need to apply at our own? Or Employer will do it for us? Cause I m curious about those jobs indicating. Only SPR or PR can apply.

Please advise,
Thanks

If you just start work in singapore( first job) , you need to apply work permit/S pass/EP to be legally work in Singapore. Normally you just give them the require document and the recruit agent or company will do everything for you. However, some company require you to do your own ( less cases).

you can apply PR status after you working sometime in singapore if you are holding S pass or EP but not work permit. Thats y always try go for at least S pass or EP if you have the qualification .

I will going to Singapore for a job interview on this Friday. The company is TEE International Limited. I'm a fresh grad of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from UNITEN. The position i applied is Project Engineer.

1. I haven't get my transcript of result yet, then am i able to get the work permit to work there?

2. Anyone knows about this company?

3. Any tips when interview with Singapore company?

4. How much is the fresh grad pay in this field in Singapore?

5. In the email they sent me, the interview is take place at the "Casino Site Office", so i guess i will be assign at the casino site. Anyone working there, how's the working environment there?

1) Shouldn't be a problem, but would need your cert to apply for Employment pass. Bring along something that says you've completed your studies and now waiting for the transcript. Proabably a letter from your school?

2) Websearch details, it's a listed company in Singapore.

3) One question they will definitely ask you is, Why you want to work in Singapore? smile.gif
Be prepared for that.

4) In respect to the relative pay in singapore, try www.jobsdb.com.sg for similar position.
Average Degree Graduate usually being paid 2.2K in Singapore.
You need at least 1.2K to survive frugally in Singapore.
Do your maths.

5) Not in your field, unable to comment.

Good luck for your interview.

I have a few friends working in Singapore. Some of them expressed their unsatisfaction. There are always a double-standard policy in Singapore companies, where salary range of Singaporean staff is always higher than Malaysian (at least 20% higher). While most of Singaporeans do not like difficult tasks (physically mainly), they would push all these to Malaysians. For example, my friend has a colleague who has the same level of experience, position and qualification. But my friend is the one who were asked to do the tasks that normally people don't like to do, such as site inspection, market survey, information collection, etc. I heard his salary is lower than his colleague.
This is a norm in all countries, including Malaysia. Just ask yourselves, what do you find the staff in your company who come from a third world country which is lower than your country? However, I think there is exceptional case that Singapore companies treat their staff equally.

I don't think you can generalise like that based on the opinions of a 'few' friends.

Actually, some of my most helpful colleagues are Singaporean.

But then I don't work in a local Cina-type Singapore company or even one of their glokal ones like Singtel or DBS etc.

Yes, most of the local Chinaman companies does. But if you work in an international company or a big listed company, that's a different story. What they want are talents.

Sorry, but do you really in Singapore or just get the facts from internet or somewhere else? The rental price is definetely raise a lot compare last time but its not that high as you stated.
There is still a lot acceptable price range for a common room as eg 300( quite hard), 400( with aircond). I even got friends just get a Master bedroom with price 600 ( aircond). Of course it still depends to the location of the unit as well.

I dun agree the food is same price as Malaysia. Malaysia is too big thus we hardly compare but if you compare with KL, PJ. The food definitely is cheaper in terms of dollar to dollar( no convertion). You can still find a lot of food cost around sgd2.50-3 at most hawker center( which just raise from sgd2).

If your offer is around 2500, let say you do not have any commitment in Malaysia. your monthly expenses can be like SGD1k( accomodation+ food+ transport+ some outing with fren)
So, you can save like 1.5k.
I do not think you can save that much if you are earning RM2.5k in Malaysia.

you'll have to budget around 500 SGD for common room. some still fall in the range of 400-450.

it depends on your location as well.

finding a job in Sgp is getting harder nowadays. My friend even with a PR is still looking for a job after 3 months of continuous searching n applying and interview-ing.

athlic , what field of work is your friend in?

Nothing is easy these days.
Especially in foreign land, you're without home-ground advantage .

You have to be better than good.
Focus and Specialise, then you will be paid premium.
