No, 3k is pretty tight already. You should be grateful he manage to squeeze in a GTX970 within your budget.

If your point of 3k max is not even the RM30 exceed, opt for i5 4440 instead, it should cost bout RM30 less.

Also, you can nego the final price if you bundle whole system from one or pay in cash.

[Budget] RM2-2.5K (can add more if needed)

[Purpose] Gaming (main: DOTA2& TF2 + some latest games in the coming years)
Engineering programs - autoCAD, solidworks etc. (ME student, want a build that allows me to upgrade into workstation in the future but not necessary for now)

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None.

[Monitor resolution] 1080p . Prefer wide screen ratio like 16:9 / 16:10

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
DOTA 2, TF2 and some latest games
Engineering programs
[Personal preferences]
-mATX rig (cheaper parts, compact, better cooling efficiency) ; ITX might be harder for maintenance & more exp
preferably support at least 2 ram sticks
including windows

i think i'm expecting for a GT750 TI/non-TI build, but how much would it cost additionally for a R9 280/270 or even R7 26x build which needs a better PSU than GT750 TI build? and, is it worth the upgrade (higher game setting, more future proofing etc.)?
extra questions:
is SSHD worth the +100 cost over HDD?
should i add discrete sound card? i'm not sure if its necessary for gaming or not. if yes, can i fit GPU+wifi card+sound card in a mATX mobo?

thanks in advance !

Bump sad.gif Preferably silencio 352 . Does the case limit my choices of gpu much due to compatibility ?
If ATX build can get me better build, do suggest. I noticed some compact mid tower casing though

Hello sifus

budget 3.8k +-

Purpose - CAD programs + games (dota2, mmorpg etc)

No hardware to be used back

Monitor 20-24"

Preferences

Lagless CAD/Rendering programs if possible.

Side Q : Can I transfer my window key to the new build ? I had my windows reformatted and installed by the shop. Ori windows no problem so far.

Q2: any nice speaker recommended under RM250? Im looking at Sonicgear Evo 9 BTMI. Quite like the bluetooth function in fact the multifunction of it.

Thanks in advance. rclxms.gif

RM2.5k budget is kinda hard to build a rig now which includes a monitor, 3k is recommended, sound card comes with the mobo is good enough for normal use, if on tight budget, normal HDD will do the job.

If your Windows key is OEM then it cannot be reuse due to key is permanently registered to mobo serial number, if it is retail version, yes it can be reuse, try contact Microsoft for more information. And about the speaker, does it have to be included in the budget? Do you have any keyboard and mouse to reuse?

3 HDMI out is quite hard to find for low end GC, suggest you get a cheap GC with 3 outputs(mostly VGA + DVI + HDMI) then use converter/adaptor to HDMI.

Drop a stick of 8GB RAM if want < 1.5k, more RAM to handle more tabs and system can run smoothly without running out of memory so soon.

I`ve set aside for the speaker already. For keyboard mouse, those logitech set should be good enough for me. Not too expensive for those.

I believe its retail, I`ll have a look later and contact Microsoft.

About the same, the asus mobo just having 4 RAM slots over the asrock one with just 2. Shouldn't be a problem for most people.

But if you insist 4 slots, might as well take a look at Asrock H97m Pro4. Slightly pricier than the asus but much more worthwhile.

As for the case, both are pretty much the same, google for it and take the one with the look you prefer.
