Ya im doubtful of that. I've read about so much different stories about it. Some suggest OEM can port over. Some suggest otherwise. Wins10 is releasing this year right?

No need for PSU? hmm.gif Or cap ayam which is included with the casing?I'd rather not go cap ayam. tongue.gif

Intel Pentium G3258 RM242.74
Asrock H81M-VG4 RM178.08
Sapphire R7 250X 1GB GDDR5 RM344.50
Corsair Value RAM 4GB DDR3 1600MHz RM119
FSP Hexa+ 450W RM159
Aerocool V3X RM99-109
Total:RM1142.32-1152.32
Prices with cents are from Jayacom@LYP and the rest are from Viewnet@LYP. smile.gif
*
For AMD setup maybe can use cap ayam LoL, if the Intel probably need it coz have gc.

Thanks for the info, I'll survey with the local shop here on pricing, I'm in JB, maybe price a bit different.

Btw what the difference between G3250 & G3258?

wait win 10 official release only u buy. no point buy win 8.1 oem now. u will get free upgrade win 10 but only 1 yr.

i3 still running dual core with HT & i5 is quad core w/o HT.

if u not OC any processor, just pick any B85 or H97 mobo.

the remaining money always spend on monitor that suit ur preferences. now u should pick mobo that come with PCI-e 3.0. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ >> go read it

PCI-e 2.0 is older version from H81 mobo. try to avoid using old generation.

important pick Tier 1 PSU & build ur own rig. no need ask those shops. youtube got a lot guideline how to build pc.
*
I read around and suggest that none of the current GPU able to be beneficial frm 3.0 and doesnt offet much different performance from 2.0 even if a pcie 3 card slotted into 2.0 slot

Does those shops build rig poorly? Maybe no cable management?
Is FSP hexa+ 450 good then?

I think 22"is good enough for me and still being FHD. Any recommendation? Im eyeing on BenQ GW2255HM (VA panel though) because it has better height and built in speaker. rm100 cheaper
Dota 2 is my main game as im amateurly active in competition. AAA games would be my occassion visits. Im okay to tune down the game reso n settings for better fps.
I'm not sure about that because im starting my ME degree next month, 8gb should be suffice for my study years i guess. But what's after that i'm not sure or even during intern
I guess i5 is a safer choice then.

Oh yea, is it advisable for me to install cpu cooler or any sort of cooling? Will case fans in positive pressure setup be just fine ?

Thanks sifu.
*
That monitor looks good with such low price compared to same price Samsung monitor. Stock cooler will run fine for non oc build, just add few more fans if temp is bad and make sure airflow is good.

Looks good to me. Do I need to get a separate sound card for surround audio, or it's already available by default. Also, I see numerous GTX970 with different price. May I know what are the differences?

Most of the mobo nowadays come with 5.1/7.1 sound card, do check the mobo specs before buying. The main difference between the available model is the design, cooler and feature. Asus, Gigabyte and MSI products are having premium price here due to their brand name, Palit, Leadtek, Zotac are normally in the mid pack with affordable price, all of them are same GTX970 with some extra tweaks to clock speed, cooler and design, just get the cheapest will do.

Motherboard these days comes with sound. However, mid-ranged or better sound card still plays more sounds at the same time.

The difference with GTX970 is how far is the factory overclock and the heatsink design. Just buy the cheapest because the performance difference is only a few percent. Also, I forgot to list down Coolermaster Hyper 212X at RM159.

Last few newb question, is cooler mandatory for gaming rig, or it's just a gimmick/deco? In case I couldn't find Xeon E3-1231 V3 (looks like those shops nearby my house don't sell it), is there any other alternatives?

It depends on your environment. Xeon runs pretty hot.

You can try Xeon E3-1230 V3 for a bit less money. Core i7-4790 is at around RM1100 I think.

Not a bad price.

It should work.

i3-3220 will struggle on CPU heavy or large multiplayer games. Watchdogs, BF4 large multiplayer map and GTA V are the examples. i3-3220 will not run Dragon Age: Inquisition too.

Can I get Core i5 4460 instead? Is the difference in performance huge on gaming?

That isn't correct.

People that use Windows 7 or 8.1 get a free upgrade to Windows 10 if they upgrade it to the latter within the first year. It'll permanently be yours.
If you want to upgrade..let's say 1 year and 1 day since Windows 10 was released, you need to pay.

Let's just hope Microsoft won't turn it into subscription, that would suck so bad. doh.gif

It's already detailed. Windows 10 Free for life (of the device) if upgraded within the offer period.

mmm oh well, better not save that little money
i will stick with b85m
after reading around jonnyguru, hardwaresecrets & etc.
im considering Silverstone Strider Essential 500W (RM179) which is a tier3 PSU with better heat tolerance than FSP Hexa+ but still having Taiwanese caps (teapo though)
meanwhile, im also hesitating to put +rm100 more for [Tier 2] Seasonic S12II Bronze 620W @ 339 (too bad they seems to no longer be selling the cheaper but modular M12II 520W EVO as it disappeared from the pricelist)
