Interested in getting the mibox 3 pro/extended, probably rooted English version. Anyone here with the pro version? How's is it? Playback with kodi doing good? Generally any complaints?

Very easy to setup. I've logged in to Google and then updated the OS. Then head to Play Store to install iFlix and Spotify.. The provided remote is decent enough but I prefer the air mouse. It has a keyboard at the back for easy search typing.

Netflix runs great, but the iFlix interface is a bit hard to navigate through when it comes to selecting individual episode of a TV series.. Kinda hard to get the cursor to the episode titles.. My wife ended up using her phone and cast iFlix to the mi box. I guess iFlix have yet to optimize the app for Android TV OS.

Awesome. How's kodi? Did you set it up?

Thinking of getting the pro/extended version.

Anyone here got problem with purchased apps on the play store not listed as purchased?

I'm trying to install apps that I purchased but it's not listed as paid, so I tried anyway paying again just to test, but transaction was cancelled and they give refund back.

The setup for the International Mi Box is a breeze. Just like when you first setup a new android phone. Accroding to a reddit thread, a new update (hopefully Nougat 7.0) is expected after CNY (a source from the Xiaomi Android TV team apparently).

i waited and went for international version because I can't read chinese. And I wanted google play to work perfectly. I had experience before with the chinese version where you need to install google play manuall and it is too much hassle. Not to mention lots of compatibility issue. I have not played with the pro (white box) version where the seller install everything for you. So I can't comment on whether that is stable or not. Still, I prefer full english version and so far no regret yet.

For those who wonder how different the packaging for the Mi Box with Android TV 6.0 is between the one released in the USA and from China. They both have the same model number mdz-16-ab. Functionality is the same, If the US version gets updated, so does the international version. And no, your regular mi box China interface cannot be converted to run Android TV. The international version also has playstore by default. If unsure, always check if the seller states that it runs ANDROID TV. There's a difference between android TV the operating system and Android box which most lesser known  companies are offering.

For the photos below, the orange box is the unit sold in the US while the unit I received from China via AliExpress is in the plain brown box. Cheers

In short, there is no software and functionality difference between the US (Orange Box) vs the International (Brown Box) versions, correct?

PS - BTW, where to purchase the US (Orange Box) version?

Software is the biggest difference with the Chinese version and the international version. Can almost say night and day difference. If you want the closest android feeling on a Xiaomi device, International version is the way to go.

It may not appear on the front page of Android TV launcher but (because it might not be in the Android TV playstore) but you can install an app called HALauncher and access it from within there.

i found out that my mi box is getting intermittent connection. It looks like it is due to the wifi being not stable. Can I know everyone else are you having similar issue? I am thinking of getting wifi ac or get a LAN connection.

Personally, I'd go for LAN if want buffer-free streaming - all my streamer boxes are connected through LAN - the only one on wifi (Apple TV) suffers lag and intense buffering (despite using AC router)
