Ohhh...Too bad then, coz the china version doesn't have play store, so you cant access google play games data but even if it have play store not all games are compatible with android TV. Some are not available on TV.

My paid MX Player Pro app shows up in the play store on my international Mibox.

I believe apps and games that are not compatible with Android TV OS will not show up. Can sideload, perhaps.

It seem impossible to sideload chrome. There's a Web browser though after I did some googling.

Impossible? Hmmm...I got it installed. I think you need to get the right version.
You can try to just install chrome from some 3rd party market (aptoide or shafa).

Yupes, playstore will only show compatible apps, most mobile game dont work on Android TV (using either remote control or gamepad). Hence it doesnt make sense to offer to you for downloading.

I really think they should enable it. I cant even install Metal Pro. Just want to use it to check FB at times.

I disagree. By default I think Google should only allow android TV compatible apps (i.e. developers took extra effort to support android TV). Android TV doesn't work well with apps made for phone/tablet touchscreen navigation.

Imagine typical/new users complaining, stupid Android TV platform, no quality control at all - apps can't even be used with gamepad and remote. Not optimised for TV experience, better to buy Roku or Apple TV instead.

This was what I hated about my old Himedia box - it ran normal Android and was a bitch to control unless I used a wireless keyboard and mouse, like a big sized PC. Wife and son really hated the experience.

Now with the Xiaomi Android TV OS box - they are playing and watching and casting happily.

Just my 2 sen's worth..

Everyone use their box differently. If I want to be dictated, I would have bought Apple TV. I supposed you only use it for that particular reason which is why you think it is not important to have other features. It does support mouse and keyboard, so why not enable everything instead of restricting how people wanna use it.

Agreed that everyone has his/her own use case. Maybe this is why Xiaomi has 2 types of Mibox products - one running nomal Android and another running Android TV.

Or rather one with Gapps, and one without Gapps. Had it not because of youtube that my kids wanted, I would have gone with the more powerful non Gapps.

Found this info somewhere on Lelong, a bit confusing to me.

QUOTE
1. 7th Generation Mibox 3S (2GB Ram, 8GB Memory, Amlogic S905X)

2. 7th Generation Mibox 3C (1GB Ram, 4GB Memory, Amlogic S905)

3. 6th Generation Mibox 3S Enhanced (2GB Ram, 8GB Memory, Mediatek MT8693)

4. 5th Generation Mibox 3 (1GB Ram, 4GB Memory, Amlogic S905)

5. 4th Generation Mibox Mini (1GB Ram, 4GB Memory, Mediatek MT8685)
So the international model running Android TV 6.0 is same hardware as (1)? And this Cortex A72 SOC model is (3)?

Thanks, buddy. I'm more keen on platform/experience and not so much on specs, so only 1 choice available ha ha - the Android TV 6.0 box.

No problem. It's a good choice as everything works out of the box. The enhanced version is for people who likes to mess around & create trouble for themselves laugh.gif ...I'm seriously contemplating... Hahaha...
