Oh, I’m thinking of mixing and matching devices as long as they support Zigbee. Currently, I’m looking at a brand called Moes, and I've heard that Aqara sensors are very good. What do you guys think?

Pretty good, still using the same aqara/xiaomi ones from 7 years ago

I also wondering about Moes

But this one statement really makes me not get Moes

Maybe you can PM him

Attached Image

And I'm not sure if Aqara sensors even though it's using ZigBee with work with Moes hub.

Normally it is based on Apps. If Tuya, look for the Tuya logo, it is it ewelink, need to looks for that logo to ensure it will work.

Unless you get a few different hubs and link it to Home Assistant.
I might be wrong, still newbie in this

Aqara devices regional lock has been implementing for few years, although you are still able to use it, the device response time could be suffer because device need to connect back to China.

Aqara if using Aqara app everything runs locally. Same with when integrate with matter. So no need connect to China.

If I buy it from Taobao, will it connect to Google Home if I use it locally in my region?

The current price tag in Malaysia is putting me off because it's too high. My brain is telling me not to buy, but my heart is leaning towards Aqara. It's hard to decide!

Can't be sure tho, mine is China version I bought 1.5 years ago though ,but is China Version and it connects to global version aqara hub. What's important is the hub must be global version, but some say here even the Child device region lock so I'm not sure haha try ur luck. But I can give you the model number.

Door window sensor mccgq11lm
Cube mfkzq01lm
D1 switch QBKG25LM
Pir motion sensor with lumen RTCGQ11lm

All these are China Version not global version. All connects fine with my global M1S Gen 1 hub that supports Google home. Now it also supports matter via Google Nest mini as matter controller. I can use the sensors to trigger other devices connected to Google home via "works for Google" too like tuya switches and smart plugs

The m1s hub can connect using mihome app too and all the aqara child devices works even when change region to Malaysia instead of China. But it won't run locally it will run online so if your wifi down it will not work and of course will got some delay as it connects to the server. The automations also not as good as aqara app. That's why I use aqara app and abandon mihome, luckily I only got xiaomi cctv and vacuum robot which don't need any automation. If you have yeelight that one can connect to Google home so no need to use mihome.

If you using mihome and have issues with region, you can Google for a unlocked mihome someone on YouTube will teach where to download. I have the hacked mihome too and it works, my vacuum robot is actually China version and not support Malaysia server, but with the hacked apk I can use it via Malaysia server and response time is much faster.

Anyone know how to connect earth wire to 20A aqara smart switch?

Since it only has Live and Neutral, but my water pump 400W has earth wire. How do I connect it?

Can I just connect my water pump earth wire straight to my house wiring earth wire? Is it safe to do so?

Yes safe. It's meant to do that anyways. BTW nowadays rcd detects by measuring the difference of current between live and neutral, if short somewhere the amps will be different hence will trip. The earth wire just helps to redirect leakage current and doesn't help in the detecting and tripping.

hi, I am using Aqara M2 hub connecting to china server.
Tried to connect to google nest with Matter.
However, only the sensors are shown in google home, but not the switch.

May I ask whether you can control your aqara D1 via google home?

Hi no I can't control via matter but can control using "works with Google"

D1 is not supported by aqara for matter https://klgadgetguy.com/wp-content/uploads/...matter-002.webp

But for Google home matter also they haven't implement all switches, I have the wireless smart switch (double rocker), it shows in Google home under matter but can't use and can't do automation also.

But the H1 switches works

The wireless mini switches not working yet

Cubes not working yet if not mistaken. Best to Google and check reddit to confirm before buying it you need matter support

not really, some of the automation runs in cloud.
I have aqara fp2 China version, the setup of detection zones is totally connected to China servers and setup time is terrible slow.

Anybody know tricks to install the door & window sensor outdoor? I bought it for quite sometime and no place to install.

Plan to install for my swing autogate, but it's outdoor that exposed to rain and I can't find any good waterproof case for this sensor.

Anybody know any difference to set the aqara server region to "other" or "Malaysia"?

I not sure why I had chosen "other" last time instead of "Malaysia"

If you change region you will have to repair everything yea. I usually just put China region last time.

Mine swing type
Just use small plastic casing bought at shopee

All attachment is by 3M VHB double tape.

Remember to seal the casing door with black tape to keep out moisture

And please use the magnet side at the gate locking mechanism.

As in my picture.

Actually, some people more daring, they just fit the sensors without any protection from the rain.

Yes I have some.

Its either tuya or ewelink

They both don't interact with each other, other than via Google home. So if u want do automations make sure same type. But they are indeed cheap and serve the purpose

i dont think any of it good...
because of this 2 things.
1. Battery will expire regularly
2. Motor will wear out

even the famous lock manufacturer Yale have quality issue because they r not electronic manufacturer.

samsung good in electronics, also suffer from lock and plastic body issue.

philips and many more using proprietary apps, not for long term.

this is reality...
i use china lock, getting myself ready to upgrade every 5 to 10years.

but if u got money, i think can consider Samsung and Philips
