Hi guys, just wanted to get opinion from you all. Currently plan to renovate and install smart switches all over the house. Going to grab about 20 units Aqara H1 from Lazada Bellicose Aqara Malaysia. Wondering whether Aqara H1 justify it's high price tag which sitting around RM150 per piece.

Interested in their smart lock D100 as well.

Do let me know your opinion. Thank you very much in advanced.

Aqara switches are nice but they are pricey. I've never tried the updated D1 and H1 but the older model had a really nice tactile look and feel to the switch.

That said, the only benefit I see Aqara having over other platforms is that they have HomeKit support out of the box. You don't have to fiddle with Home Assistant or Homebridge to get your Home set up.

But if HomeKit isn't something you need, then it's hard to justify that price tag. Sure Aqara's switches may feel better to press, but with your smart home all set up, you probably won't be pressing them all that often anyway.

Thanks Agathon for your sharing, it really helped me a lot in deciding whether go for Aqara switches.

Since I am not tech savvy and thinking of going ecosystem that support Homekit, so most probably I would bite the bullet and go for Aqara switches.

There are list of items that I going to purchase. Do you have any ideas what's more to add to complete the package?

Aqara Smart Lock D100

Homepod Mini
Aqara Hub M2

Aqara Wireless Switch H1
Aqara H1 Smart Wall Switch with Neutral

Aqara Motion Sensor
Aqara Door and Window Sensor
Aqara Wireless Mini Switch
Aqara Temp and Humidity Sensor
Aqara Vibration Sensor
Aqara Water Leak Sensor

TPLINK KP303 Smart Extension Plugs

Yeelight Bulb 1S
Yeelight LED Strip + Extension

Thanks in advanced notworthy.gif

Sure not grabbing other aqara lock model?
Unless your door lock type matches same type

Isn’t there a tuya homebridge plugin? Allows to control tuya devices. Not sure how well it works since i don’t use homekit but at least you’ll save some money with tuya products

Currently planning for renovation so might be changing the existing glass sliding door. By the way anything need to take note or caution with this door lock? Or you have better recommendation?

Yes I believe there is one and would definitely check it out and see whether able to save some bucks from doing so..

Seems easy to setup

Just have it running on small linux machine running 24/7 (rm60 raspberry pi zero w 2) and you’re good to go

Now I’m curious if tuya smart lock are supported for this integration also since they’re not as expensive as aqara ones and comes in all door lock type.
Edit, not yet unfortunately, seems like the same case with tuya integration for homeassistant

Thanks alucard89, the setup seemed to be pretty simple and rather straightforward.

The good thing is it's of charge and no subscription for below 50 smart things connected. Seemed to be reasonable.

Would you suggest to mix or go for only one brand if that's the case? Because most probably I'll opt for Aqara smart lock due to Homekit support.

I see some of the forumers said that Aqara D100 smart lock push and pull was a little bit unfriendly. So I might go for Aqara P100 instead. Anybody got experience with it?

And could you recommend me switches that for those higher ampere like water heater etc

Anybody has experienced with Yeelight Official store in Lazada?

Recently one of my yeelight bulb 1S flickering and randomly turn off itself which is quite known issue in yeelight forum.

Unfortunately when approach their customer service, they asked me to email them. When I send them email with explaining the problem, they ask me to find out the serial number for verification. I tried to find the box but unfortunately not able to identify which box belongs to which bulb.

Anybody know how to identify which box belong to which yeelight bulb? So hassle and troublesome to deal with yeelight Lazada official store.

Wondering do you guys stick a sticker with all your bulbs to keep track on your serial number? Learned a valuable lesson to keep on track from now on..

Not recommended to use with regulator fan.
Induction load always kacau with non Neutral switch.
Else u need to use 2 gang type, 1st gang for resistive load, 2nd gang maybe can be use with fan.

Btw im not sure those Aqara type switch, as i mainly use sonoff switch.
Aqara need capacitor bypass?
*
Thanks for your reply Max!

I am currently using 2 gang type with neutral switch so I think there won't be needing any capacitor.

So I should try to interchange the 1st gang and 2nd gang wiring?

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 13 2023, 11:02 PM)
Aqara has no neutral type, no need capacitor.
*
Thanks for reply celciuz, I am using aqara 2 gang with neutral. Would it be still suitable for regulator fan?

Your wiring has neutral cable right? If yes then should be no problem. I'm using D1 with neutral cable for my entire house (minus a few switches). So far all worked fine... weather it is ceiling fan, wall fan or exhaust fan in the bathroom.
*
Thanks for your reply once gain ,celciuz.

Yes I just pulled a neutral wire from nearby aircond switch although it's not the right way to do so...

Wondering whether your fan has regulator box like mine? Those old style "school" fan that can turn from 0 up to 5 speed.

Oh no, my fans are all remote control. No regulator box. Ugh, this one I'm not too familiar... my previous home I also using no neutral version with remote.

But generally... it should not "reset" the switch... maybe the taikors here with experience with regulator fans can advise better.
*
no worries, thanks a lot for your sharing celciuz. It really means a lot to me.

Seemed like if it does not work, time to swap out regulator fan with remote control fan for daaa switch. bruce.gif bruce.gif

i see.
maybe u can try interchange 1st.
usually Neutral type should be no problem.. but need to see if aqara using relay or triac for turning on/off.

some smart switch also abit sensitive to voltage drop/spike. it will power cycle itself.
*
Thanks for your help, Max!

Will let you all know whether if interchange solve the problem so that in future whoever has same problem could do the same as well cheers.

HI, I have aqara D1 3 gang switch non neutral, works with regulator fan kdk brand, fan is middle switch. Maybe you did the writing wrongly? My switch is before the regulator, meaning the live wire connect to the switch first only goes out to the regulator.
*
hi dest9116, thanks for your confirmation here.

Yes, Live wire goes into L and L1 goes into regulator wiring.

I'll try to swap the wire to L2 tonight and see how it goes.

Thanks all for being so helpful in helping me to sort out the problem.

Thank you very much for all of your helps! I really appreciate such support from you all.

I already managed to install my Aqara H1 switch and act purely just as switch. Then just use the regulator for speed like usual. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

Do you guys have any good suggestion that could control dcmoto autogate remotely? Just placed my order for dc moto 925 autogate.

And any suggestion for smart home cctv system as well?

New to smart home system and a lot to learn from you all.

Are you using Aqara or perhaps using HomeKit? If using HomeKit, then I’m using Athom which I ordered from AliExpress. It’s a relay type, connect to the board and I tap power from the 12v battery. So far using a few weeks very reliable. Now I don’t need to bring remote out 😆 (only when power failure I guess or when internet is down 🤣).

Thanks for your help celciuz..

I’m using HomeKit and currently have Aqara hub m2, aqara sensors, switches and yeelight strip&hub.

Hahaha seemed like need to put a spare in car glovebox just in case..

Do you have a link to the store that you bought?

Hello I'm using something like this

Check out promo ! eWe DC 2 Channel 12V Self Locking...at 50% off!RM98.86 only!Get it on Lazada now! | https://s.lazada.com.my/s.5SODa

It doesn't links with aqara tho, but I don't think I want my auto gate opening by itself via automation, it's for security after all.

This ia smart switch is 2 gang so you have 2 options. Inside your dcmoto motherboard you can usually have option to open both or open right or open left, so you can choose 2 options with 2 gangs, can refer to the user manual. Each option will have a positive and negative terminal. So you have a pair of live and neutral wire one side connect to the switch under normally open and another side is connect to the motherboard. So when it's normally open, the positive and negative not connected, when you press your app, it will close meaning positive and negative will connect and your auto gate will open, you can trial and test it won't spoil, remember to select inching mode in the app for each switch to 2 sec meaning after press 2 sec later will off the switch. The input you connect to the battery, so battery input to your motherboard and also splits to this switch. When house no power, you can still open your gate coz this switch support Bluetooth also. All my tuya switches can be controlled via Bluetooth so when thunder house trip, you no worry.

Anyways you can find something similar as long it's a switch for 2 gangs, if 1 gang then you can only control 1 function meaning open both side doors instead of 1 option open both, 1 option open right/left side. Mine I got from my auto gate installer, he teach me how to install coz that time my house no wifi yet, so he teach me instead. You can get from other brands also la but make sure the output have neutral and have normally open terminal
*
Thanks for your help dest!

That’s great and wondering whether it must be controlled through the apps or it must be connected to tuya hub ya?

It seemed great since no need to worry about no electricity 🤣🤣

Thanks Nate! Really appreciate it.

You bought 1 channel one as well? What’s the difference between 1ch or 2ch? Is it that if 1ch we can’t control the gate open one leaf or both leaf?

Depends on your requirement, my gate is Dcmoto. It only has single input.. open both gates 😅 a bit stupid this thing.

One thing I plan to do in future is just connect a 4 channel to the remote. Then trigger remote so I can do left or right side or both.
*
Ouch I just placed my order for dcmoto as well since seemed like quite a lot of peoples recommend this model.

Do you mean we going to buy the same Athom board but with 4 channel? Then connect it to dcmoto remote? Sorry as I’m quite new with this thing and learning from you all

Anyone know how to connect earth wire to 20A aqara smart switch?

Since it only has Live and Neutral, but my water pump 400W has earth wire. How do I connect it?

Can I just connect my water pump earth wire straight to my house wiring earth wire? Is it safe to do so?
