Your Atlas BX battery is SMF.
Is it Semi Maintenance Free?
What is the difference between MF and SMF?

SMF is Sealed Maintenace Free.

Some other brands claim to be maintenance free but it's not sealed. So leakages still occur.

Nowadays those maintenance free car battery can't last for 1 year. Luck was on my side when i got it 1 to 1 exchange since the car battery last me for about 10 months.

The average life span of a maintenance free car battery is usually 18-21 months. If there's a 2 year warranty then you can consider buying but i doubt any shops selling warranty more than 1 year. I might be wrong, those expensive ones may last longer and warranty is 2 years.

Sure. When something comes up, will definitely ask you here.
It is good that you can add all these information in your spec column for the batteries you are selling.

When you deal with The Battery Shop, you wont need luck, we will replace your battery immediately no questions asked.

Shops in Malaysia don't want to bring in the longer warranty batteries as it's deemed not good for business.

But we are consumers ourselves and we aim to provide the best for all our customers.

Do sign up on our site, www.thebatteryshop.my/signup, to get updates on the 24 month warranty battery. The response we are currently getting is very positive and we might just bring it in soon.

Daewoo battery used to have 24months and then 18 months warranty. Previously I used those. Out of market now, I guess.

I'm using EcoTech now NS70 MF

Really appreciate the feedback imbibug. Thanks!
How long would the warranty need to be to make the extra cost worthwhile?
*
Probably too long for a manufacturer to even consider it, say 5-10 years, and the price would be too high for me to consider it.

Sealed batteries have put the wrong idea that changing batteries every 1yr is necessary because it has a shorter lifespan vs unsealed battery, but with regular trickle charging to keep it topped up, I got 2.5yrs (ok from load test check) out of mine (Marathoner) and only took it out because I got a 'free' replacement from another car which needed to be swapped out. I got 5yrs from a sealed battery in a previous car, and I only changed it because it looked dirty not because of any trouble.

I should be able to keep my present unsealed battery going for 5-10years easy. To me, paying extra for longer warranty is an extra tax for those who are ignorant or lack the time for maintenance. I prefer paying more for good quality batteries that will last very long and the savings is enough for a set of tires vs changing batteries every year.

if you are getting 2 years warranty it means the battery is using more genuine materials. The reason why batteries nowadays doesn't last that long is because they substituted the metal (that is needed for the chemical process) in the batteries with cheaper components.

Hence it is not a warranty issue, its whether you wanna pay more for a battery that has more genuine components inside that could last longer. Battery manufacturers aren't stupid. They wouldn't provide warranty that could potentially harm their business model.

Go with the RM240 for a more lasting battery.

Its more than just the quality/thickness of the plates. Sealed batteries have an inherently shorter lifespan vs flooded lead acid batteries.
With proper care conventional flooded lead acid batteries can last a decade or longer.
