Hi guys
Would you pay a bit more for a 24 month warranty car battery?
We at The Battery Shop are thinking of bringing it into Malaysia and would appreciate some feedback. E.g.
RM200 for a 1 year warranty car battery OR RM240 for a 2 year warranty car battery
Thanks!

QUOTE(alexchew_2020 @ Apr 15 2015, 12:59 PM) what kind of warranty included? if a new battery taking good care i think mostly can >2yrs The current warranty on a normal battery is 12 months. If the battery malfunctions during that period, the battery should be replaced for free. We are now looking at bringing in a 24 month warranty battery at a slightly higher price. So we were just wondering whether people will pay a bit more for the extra one year warranty.

If you can do it for 24 Months Warranty without paying more would be great. Long term business.

QUOTE(ahchun @ Apr 15 2015, 01:06 PM) really depend on the term of the warranty maybe good for those not really know how to take care of their vehicles Basically the terms are if there are any battery malfunctions in the period of 24 months, we will replace it for you for free. You cannot really blame people for not taking care of their vehicles, Malaysian weather plays a big part for the low life span of the batteries.

Currently we have to increase the price slightly as we do not dare bring in too big a quantity as we do not know how the markets reaction will be. Once we see a greater demand for these batteries, we will be able to bring in more thus lowering the price to be similar to that of a 1 year warranty battery.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated! However, we are hearing stories of cars with these batteries in a similar climate going for three to four years (with a 2 year warranty battery). We are also heavily testing these bad boys.

Yup, that's how the manufacturers are giving out their warranty. Let's say you changed a battery today with a one year warranty, if the battery fails on the 30th of January 2016, the next battery will only be warranted until 15th of April 2016. Yes we will replace it for free

You're right, Alex, that's why maintenance free batteries are the consumer's choice now. Cap Ayam all don't say la, usually they are reconditioned and recycled, not fresh from the factory. We are advocates of Yokohama batteries too! Hopefully in the near future we will be able to stock them for you guys! This post has been edited by TheBatteryShop: Apr 15 2015, 01:39 PM

Weather does play a role as heat will accelerate the chemical reaction in the battery and humidity encourages rust on the terminals and terminal clamps. Thanks for your thoughts!
