A 35 1.8G is much sharper trust me. i used both.

btw i was thinkin to grab a wide. either a 20mm 2.8D or the 18-35mm 3.5-4.5G
who has tried them before?
*
agreed...35 1.8g is way better...i both own in the past as well..

i got the 18-35 before...i like it very much. it also feel lightweight for me and the focal length just nice

I'm now considering to buy tamron 24-70mm. Pair with my D610.
But worried a bit if any incompatible issue.

Anybody have any experience problem using tamron before?

Anyone here who is user of Nikon D750 earlier batch that affected by lens flare issue? Wana ask did u guys send in for fix at Nikon centre? If yes, what did they adjust or change? How long it takes for the fix? Can show the receipt of adjustment or changes? After fix already, any other issues crop up?

I have the 105mm F2.8 VR2, its awesome for macro, but not really so for portraits although the focal length is good hmm.gif
This is because the 105mm is not that sharp at F2.8 for commercial work, at least for me la laugh.gif Its not very fast either, thus more suitable for posed shots only..

I do not have a 85mm F1.8, but I use a Fujifilm 56mm F1.2 (almost same focal length) as my secondary camera during weddings. This one is awesome for portraits and posed shots; not so for candids. Most 85mm lens are quite sharp wide open thumbup.gif

Unless if you are planning to shoot macro (e.g. photo of wedding rings etc.) too, the 85mm F1.8 would be the better pick. Especially so if you are on DX

Awesome feedback bro biggrin.gif thank you for sharing, the main thing that is stopping me from the 105mm is the fact that it is a macro lens and also the price as well sad.gif Let's see if there is any other sifu that can chip in their opinion biggrin.gif

Hi Guys,

Been awhile since I ask question here, bz with studies and travelling and working smile.gif

Anyhow, I have a problem.. Since I'm a vivid traveler, my D3200 + Sigma 17-50mm + 35mm is killing me as weight problem.. although in the bag doesn't effect much, but wearing on the neck my DSLR + the Sigma lens is killing me..

Now the hesitation come in, any SONY user here? haha should I change join the mirror less world to ease my neck pain or DOES investing a shoulder sling will solve everything?

I'm currently looking at BlackRapid Cross Sling(rubber one), so my neck don't die when travel.. or that doesn't even help at all and should sell all my gears and top up and change to mirror less?

Most commercial work will go f/5.6 - f/11 anyway.

I know, max weight give it only 1.7kg which is LIGHT compared to my friends D650 + his Nikon 24-70mm which weight more than 1 TON! hahaah

He is using Blackrapid Sport, which I tried in covering an event, mayb is indoor and less walking, the sling is very comfortable.

Not sure if wear it whole day sweating and sighting will fatigue or not.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

You are most welcomed thumbup.gif
Having a macro-capable lens has its advantages lol~ But if you are sure you won't be shooting any macro, then the 85mm is gooding~

Yeah, not really heavy haha laugh.gif
I think having a shoulder sling will ease the pain abit, especially since you can switch shoulders to carry your gears..
But if the weight still bothers you, then its a good idea to opt for smaller cameras~ After all, the most important thing is to enjoy your trips laugh.gif

Yeah, that's true haha~
For my wedding/ROM shots, I noticed most (normal) people prefer shots with a lot more bokeh though haha laugh.gif

Oh for ROM i think 105mm would be a huge problem due to the field of view. One would be better off with some 35mm wide aperture lens.

Another point to consider is the focus speed; For portrait, you can set the focus limit switch to limit the focus distance, but it's still slow for action. Usable but really depends on how you utilize it accordingly.

One more point to take note is the maximum aperture will change as you focus closer (into macro range). E.g. You set to f/2.8, and you go nearer to your subject and you may notice the maximum aperture changed to f/3 or smaller. It can be a problem if you're shooting in manual mode as the ISO or shutter speed still maintains and your exposure will be different.

i have 85 1.8G, i use it for weddings and portraits. Sharp, but a little slow on AF, but sufficiently fast enuf for most excpet sports? and i like that lens alot cz of it's nice bokeh as well. u could consider sigma 85 1.4, which has even better bokehhhh , but have nt tried.

That's some good feedback there my friend, will definitely keep that in mind thumbup.gif as for the focusing speed, the slow would not be as slow as kit lens would it?
