err i think i recall someone did mention if mount DX lens on FX body it will auto crop... that was what i mean XD
but the photo you show that one is full no crop + vignette one?

It will auto crop by default, but u can change the setting of the camera not to auto crop.

So u mean D500 DX can be better then D750, D810 FF?  shocking.gif

They're used for different purposes. So cant say that one is better than another.

Sony has better video quality and much lighter. Best for u to travel around with compared to a full frame dslr.
But sony has super expensive lenses and AF nt as fast as dslr. Drains out battery like crazy, u will need at least 3 of them for a day if ure travelling. if you're working with it, u'll need at least 6 to 10 of them.
Hw long u used d5200?

Im using a tokina 11-16 on a FX camera.  cry.gif

I used D5200 for 3 years already. Just felt that i can improve the IQ and looking for more beautiful bokeh in FF.
I been shooting with kit lens which is 18-55 F3.5-5.6 only, since i am plan to upgrade system, so i didn't invest on other lens to fully utilize this camera.

Actually, i am quite confusing when everybody is claiming Sony Mirrorless focusing system is not there yet, and slow.
But i check through the review on youtube, all i saw is positive feedback especially for Sony A7R II.

Do you know that AF speed is slow in kitlens? biggrin.gif

Invest in a 50mm F1.8. It can be used in both FF and DX. Then you will have more bokeh already! bruce.gif

What i meant was autofocus for photo. For video, most of the time u'll use manual focus. and btw a7r II is kinda very superior compared to a7, a7ii and a7r. same goes to the price tag.

never use sony related stuff so cannot commend...

but ah ha! dah agak you only use kit lens... like DS_legacy said, go borrow (or buy) prime lens then it will feel different brows.gif
(2nd hand with good condition also okay, price is not drop that fast compare with andriod phone)
downside of prime lens is you cannot use zoom ring la, but you can walk front or backward to frame the whole thing .

just don't get the D version because that lens don't have AF motor inside, and your D5200 don't have built in body either so you have to manual focus all the way, get the G version better.

common DX prime lens i heard of is 35mm (DX) and 50mm (can use with FX)... you go to your friend group ask them any of them have F mount of those lens and try to play with shoot around for a moment, see got improve or not. laugh.gif

it is like comparing racing car spec in game... some have good top speed, some have good handling , and some have good accelerating performance.

so D500 actually is professional DX body with newest (so far) tech compare with other professional line (not sure about D5 ) and yada yada bla bla i am lazy to list from google since i didn't follow up news anymore. just general knowledge from here is nikon created few lines for DSLR sure have their own purpose one like how Samsung make phones got galaxy note S7, S7, ace 7 whatever la.

Yeah, I agreed with them. While Sony A7Rii is a good camera, I absolutely don't see the need for you to switch since you've already have a very capable Nikon D5200. As Agito666 pointed out, get G version of nikon glass where they don't required camera in body autofocus motor since nikon D5200 doesnt have inbody AF motor. If you want good bokeh, I'd recommend Nikon 85mm f/1.8G. It will definitely give you nice bokeh and won't break your bank. smile.gif

Get a 50mm F1.8G. You will notice the difference in bokeh a lot brows.gif

Although it will be sharper and AF faster than your current kitlens, the sharpness still can't fight good glass la. icon_idea.gif

Invest on a better standard DX lens. Usually people will buy stock DSLR with kitlens. Then, invest in better standard/prime lenses. If there is really a need, then change a new body and new lenses. biggrin.gif

If you have the money wanna straight buy new body and lenses also okay. brows.gif

what i believe is you pay what you get, some cheap lens IQ might be sharp nice nice but maybe manually operate it might not so good... whistling.gif

https://www.dxomark.com/

here is the website can show the score of the lens with IQ alone... also you can find their MTF chart to read whistling.gif

And how does DXO mark actually help one gauge stuff? smile.gif 0.5 points higher? 2 points higher? Feels good but really doesn't translate into anything significant.

sharpness is also a measure of contrast which gives the 'illusion' of sharper images.
those nikon lenses are good enough already, afterall a person cannot pixel peep their whole life la.

Actually bro vincetee06, don't need to think too much about superb IQ now, for the current DSLR camera, even the basic D3300 will also give you very good results if you used the right lens.

Since you have the D5200 now, go ahead and get a 85mm f1.8g or 35mm f1.8g if you want nice bokehlicious photos thumbup.gif

I personally owns the 35mm f1.8g and the bokeh is crazy, although cannot match other more expensive lens but it's defintiely much better than the 18-55mm kit lens wink.gif

In terms of lens, if the lens have good focus, it will give good contrast. So not exactly an illusion.

In terms of software that artificially adjust contrast is another thing.

If you have high mps camera like canon 50ds (correct me cause i cant rmember the model), dxo will play some role in deciding if the body and lens are good combo. No point buyig high mps sensor (and vice versa) when the lens cannot resolve such detail. Also it helps if you want to know if paying $$$ for expensive lens worth the img quality it produce no matter if you dont pixel peep.
