Hyllus cf. keratodes ♂ by Soo Yeak Choo, on FlickrMy first ever MJ shot. See you all spam, I cannot tahan. Red Stink Bugs mating (Dindymus rubiginosus?) by Soo Yeak Choo, on FlickrThis female yellow-silver Saint Andrew's Cross can be recognised by her oval abdomen and characteristic silver and yellow pattern on the dorsal (back) side. She is enjoying her lunch with style. Argiope catenulata by Soo Yeak Choo, on FlickrThis snake was resting at the tree branches and crawled away when we were seen. So, only managed to photograph its rear view. Sifu please help me with the identification of this snake. QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Aug 7 2015, 05:51 PM) That diffuser was created based on your design and guidance wor. QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Aug 7 2015, 05:53 PM) Awesome shots, diffusion damn nice Thanks for the ID sifu! The snake is an Oriental Vine Snake (Ahaetulla sp.). It has very specialized and good eyesight. Will update the description soon! Too bad I spent too much time on photographing the waterfall. Or else, could manage to take a closer look on the vine snake. |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Aug 8 2015, 01:00 AM) The trick to photographing lizards is to go out during early morning, say 7-10am, when the lizards (poikilotherms) have to bask in the sun for energy. Most of them will not have enough energy to run away from you, and will often just perch lifelessly on tree trunks or twigs etc. Wahhh next time can go early morning and get a few shots ady. Thanks for the tips! Lizards that are alert to your presence and ready to flee will press their bodies towards the ground/bottom, as seen in the shot above. Those that are still feeling pretty okay (un-threatened) will not do that (see below)- you will have an idea whether they are going to run away or not~ Great Angle Head Lizard- Gonocephalus grandis ♂♀ by Ji Tan, on FlickrQUOTE(mingyuyu @ Aug 8 2015, 01:31 AM) haha I think having a 150mm focal length helps a lot too, but I lose out a lot in terms of DOF compared to shorter macro lenses Yeah, every lens has its respective pros and cons. I don't know if there is any solution for a better DOF for a longer macro lenses. If got, sure no need photo stack ady. yeah |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Aug 10 2015, 12:04 AM) Thanks Very rare. Although some spiders feed on caterpillar, I never encounter this situation before. You are so lucky! The more I photograph these spiders the easier it became for me to find them, I guess I am slowly learning their behaviours. Probably the rarest thing I've shot until now. ![]() |

Big-bellied Tylorida with prey- Tylorida ventralis ♀ by Ji Tan, on FlickrA very common spider that you can find pretty much anywhere in the wild. The males can often be seen hanging out with the females on the same web, and it is not uncommon to see them mating in public |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Aug 11 2015, 10:49 PM) Wahhh nice shots you got on the rare spiders! Where did you photograph these spiders? QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Aug 12 2015, 10:49 AM) Holy! Where did you find #2 and #3? In Kampar? That Opadometa is really nice leh. Wish to photograph one in the future. @DS_Legacy will be interested to know since his project is on these spiders Glad that you are seeing more types of arachnids now hehe~ As for the ID: #1- can't really tell, need more angles #2- Leucauge decorata- Decorative Leucauge (from the family Tetragnathidae). Members of the family Tetragnathidae (commonly know as big-jawed spiedrs) are all very long and slim, and sometimes have very big jaws. #3- Opadometa sp.- This one is very closely related to Leucauge (also from the family Tetragnathidae). Try to take a look at the 4th pair of legs (counting from the front), you will see some very beautiful comb-like bristles that are worth taking |

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Aug 12 2015, 04:17 PM) thanks for the info regarding the spiders Awwww I thought u shot them in Kampar. Haha too bad I didn't shot them in kampar, I shot them back in the last sem break at FRIM which is really close to my house (i'm from KL) Nice collection of pussies *opps* I mean cats there Meow cat ![]() Anyway, nice meow photo. It is a tortoiseshell cat with a coat coloring found almost exclusively in female cats, so called because of the similarity to the tortoiseshell. I saw one here in Kampar too. |

Thanks for the invitation! woah you even know info of cats? You will eventually know more about them if you take biology-related course for your degree. Biodiversity and genetics subjects will cover a bit about the common living organisms. So, we get to know some of them. This post has been edited by DS_Legacy: Aug 12 2015, 10:10 PM |

QUOTE(Atsumori @ Aug 15 2015, 12:45 PM) need your help guise cause im really noob, i watch several youtube video but still cannot understand. Shoot with aperture priority mode (A). Then u can easily play with the aperture by turning to command dial. The lower the f value, the more blur background you can get. Hope this helps. my gear is D5500 with standard lens 18-55mm. how to change aperture without zooming? for example i want to take a picture of someone, at the same distance, i want to blur the background or i want to take clear background.
