It appears to be someone use a hydraulic jack and lift your car from the torsion beam. The apex of the bent is sharp suggested my speculation. Normally ARB bent is at the folding section. If it's an impact damage, the bend will be curvy instead of a sharp bent apex.

Hi Bro YAB... notworthy.gif

Re above effect on Torsion Beam...
Sincerely hope yu can advise on how ( when using a hydraulic jack when DIY-ing ) to best raise :
a) the complete Rear portion of the Saga;
b) the complete Front portion of the car....

So far me hv been juz raising one side(corner) only of either front/rear of car...@indicated positions stated in the User Manual...2b safe & not bend any part of the underside by putting the full load on2 that "anchor/support point" for the jack... tongue.gif

TQVM in adv.

I'm happy to say that jacking the front of mine is extra easy, I just push my trolley jack under the centre of the number plate until the pump handle touches, then just pull the jack back a couple of cm and pump. There's a support bar there that looks like it was made for my jack, and saves my aging body some effort.

As Jim mentioned, the front has an anchor for your convenient to jack up the whole front part of the car. Sadly, there isn't 1 for the back. I have seen SC that use the tofubeam as an anchor point, whilst the owner wasn't aware of that. I've been to many tayar shop to do my footwork many times, the only thing I realized is they always use 1 jack infront and 2 at the back for both side. Once I throw the question to my dearest magician, he honestly told me he had it once but dare not to do it again. He had an Toyol Rolla Altis drove in, he had done the front part and went for test, to found that there's caliper jam at the back wheel. ABS keep on triggering due to unbalance braking. Customer is rushing his to finish off as need to travel back to other state. Out of desperate, he jacked the whole rear part up and start refurbishing the rear brake calipers with service kit. Once done, test drive was perfect and there's not more imbalance braking. ABS back to normal and customer took the car and went back to Kelantan. The horror part was, after several days later, the client called back and inform there's something wrong with the car, asking if magician did anything to the camber. The whole rear part of the alignment is out. Both rear wheel camber and toe are POSITIVE! Did he admit if it's his fault? No he didn't. He can't be sure if the client hit anything on the way back, or it was already damaged when customer sent in the car. But 1 thing for sure, the tofubeam is now bent UPWARD as suggested by the positive camber. Will he do it again? Definitely not. Die die won't do it again. If got caught... it's going to be painful. doh.gif

Here's a protip.

Save enough cash, prepare to change car.

Once your chassis kena whack, no matter how many times you try to fix, it wont be like before. Speaking from experience.

Time to move on.

For normal jack, I always use two jacks for the front or back for that purpose. Unless i got the trolley jack. Becos i afraid if use single normal jack it will snap in sudden and i will die. ph34r.gif

Thanks for setting my mind into nightmare mode, I don't recall jacking it there but rather have just jacked on either side, now I'll be sure never to try it on a torsion beam, though it's something I'd do otherwise.
Oh dear looking at old pictures I think I have been guilty, Jimmy will have a look tomorrow sad.gif
No wait, it may have been on my ramps.

Much of it indeed goes right over my head but it's not important.
I do get what the lass in the video was saying about things, my wife who's Philippine (married nearly two years now after my becoming widowed, she's my age so it's decent) talks of opening light switches, so the quirks are somewhat familiar to me.

The truth of torsion beam is, it's made to TWIST, not BEND. Jacking a car from the end point of travelling arm is TWISTING the beam, hence will not affect much. There's no different then driving the car on uneven pavement and the left right wheel not leveling. Added travelling speed and occupied weight, 1 can imagine the beam being twisted and return back in shape everytime you hit a corner/going through speed bumps/uneven road surface. However, there's more worries on jacking a car up from the spring mounting at the travelling arm, which next to the damper mounting point has a huge locking screw to secure the damper. The bolt is screwed from the inner side of the damper mounting, hence when the car yank, the weight will be shifting inward. The bolt will be able to withstand the punishment. If jacking a car up from the point, the weight will be pushing OUTWARD, and the entire vehicle weight will be pushed down to the damper, and damper will pushed inward where the bolt head is pressured. So, I'm hoping if Quazacolt can share some picture of his snapped damper bolt here laugh.gif

You've got the wrong kind of nightmare. I believe you've seen how thin our torsion beam is and never bother to try jacking the car up from that center piece of L channel
