QUOTE(silrave @ May 15 2020, 08:45 PM) Also if you plan on switching to Maxis, don't cancel your Unifi line just yet. Apply for Maxis Home Fibre and have their installer come install their router first on your ONT(fibre modem) then only go and terminate your Unifi line. That way you won't risk losing your HSBB port because if you're living in landed, your neighbors might be already on waiting list. Once you release your port, they might take it up immediately putting you on thr next waiting list indefinitely. |

Maxis recently do not provide VOIP password to end user, and they do not provide technical support for any 3rd party router. I believe Maxis has some configuration to lock down VOIP setting so that it become difficult to setup VOIP in non Maxis router. My current solution is to keep Maxis router as VOIP only, and use 3rd party router for Internet / Wifi access. If your white router from Maxis is old, you can request them to replace with new router for you. |

QUOTE(syk @ May 21 2020, 08:37 AM) There are several router model in market c/w VOIP function. yea, had to keep Maxis Technicolor router just for VoIP. plus it's not that straight forward to just plug it into main custom router and bridge the proper VLAN. even with internet access on the Technicolor, the VoIP just won't work if its PPPoE client failed to connect to Maxis PPPoE server. luckily the solution quite easy, just implement a PPPoE server on VLAN621 and create a PPPoE client profile based on Maxis fibre PPPoE username and password. Based on my experience, the technical challenge is you must need to know how to configure VOIP setting for Maxis. Maxis recently do not provide VOIP password to end user, and they do not provide technical support for any 3rd party router. My current solution is to keep Maxis router as VOIP only, and use 3rd party router for Internet / Wifi access. If your white router from Maxis is old, you can request them to replace with new router for you. setting up Astro IPTV on custom router is one step easier than setting up VoIP |

QUOTE(alfredhow78 @ May 21 2020, 09:14 AM) Yes, it is technically possible to configure btu for Maxis VOIP.But my case is VOIP setting for my btu will reset every few months. That is really a headache to set it back because the steps is not so straight forward. Keeping Maxis router for internet / WIFI access is not recommended because it always hang and need regular reset. |
