I hope everyone can still lodge a complaint to MCMC while sourcing for the replacement router. It is only beneficial and effective if everyone lodge a complaint .. the site is https://aduan.skmm.gov.my/Complaint/AddComplaint?NOSP=1

damn it, have been reported to Maxis for the TM modem no link error on 9/2/2019, today Maxis has told that TM technician are fully booked until March, temporally solution is to provide a dongle, additional they can only to deliver the dongle on two days later

Really hate it, i will not continue maxis home fibre service again

Maxis has called shortly after the report was lodged thru MCMC. THey have arranged a tech to come over tomorrow morning.. I wonder what will he do.....

My simple report via MCMC :

ID Aduan: 9999-9999-0999999-XXX
Pemberi Perkhidmatan: MAXIS
Kategori Aduan: Network
Sub-kategori: Internet Connection/speed
Huraian Aduan: Connection by the Maxis wireless router (TPlink) is terrible .. The wireless 5G connection keeps on lagging (connect and disconnect) using youtube, download big files, browsing FB with video, my mobile phone has to disconnect and connect in the house every few hours.

As it is hard to simulate the droppage of connection within a short period of time, I hope it's not just a waste of time.. Let's see what he suggested.

Ok.. here is the update.

The tech brought a new (same) router along.. (I tot he will just be replacing one for me, which I tot make no difference).

But after inspecting the existing unit, he asked if i have a spare Ethernet cable. I got a Cisco 72-1791-01 (cat 5 only i think) and he replaced the old cable with this one.
He then turned on my 2.4GHz channel, and asked if I wish to Combine both 2.4Ghz+5GHz ? I asked what benefit does it get... he told me that's the best he can do with this Tplink since it is not considered 'faulty' yet, by doing so it will extend the signal and perhaps 'strengthen' it. So yes, i told him to proceed.

So the end result is :
- i can get wifi signal in my mobile even at my kitchen where I usually lost it before today (it was solely on 5Ghz, 2.4G was turned off). (in double storey house where router is located upstairs).
- speedtest in my laptop (wired connection) gets to 99-100Mbps . I usually got about 85-90Mbps at this hour (~11am)
- try to run a soccer clips and some youtube movies in my living area using my mobile, looks smoother (hopefully not just psychologically!!)

So, if it is still unsatisfactory after this, his suggestion was to change to a new router as he thinks Maxis won't be changing the router to other brand/model anytime soon. Connectivity in this router is a common problem reported by most ftth users - he concurred.

Let's see what my kids' comments about the smoothness in the games they play in their pads later on..

That's all folks.. Cheers

Of coz by combining 2.4+5 will extend the coverage but the far
device will auto switch to 2.4
This tplink got isu with 5ghz only
That's why i nvr use 5ghz since day 1 and till today no connection drop
When i use 5ghz then the prob start

2.4ghz cannot realise the potential of 100Mbps ..on mobile, 2.4 only gets me close to 40+Mbps.. that's why i turned to 5ghz. Actually after changing the DHCP and turning off IPvs, connectivity wasn't an issue to me using 5Ghz at home. This report to MCMC was just merely to test/check how Maxis would response..

sorry, i meant to say changing the dhcp lease time, to the Max 2880 mins to avoid disconnect/connect syndrome.. i think many of us did that change already.

turning off ipv6 was another suggestion by fellow members here.. may help to 'prolong' the connectivity too, somehow.. Not a network guru, can't explain well .. biggrin.gif

I am near to give up on this maxishit fiber already.. Currently I am on the Astro IPTV bundle (30mbps).

Routers I have:
Thompson
TM TPLink AC1200 v1 with latest firmware

Problem:
1. Keep disconnect and reconnect recently (on the modem level, the Auth and Link light went off)
2. Thompson router connection speed drop and die (package burst issue, I read in some thread about it)
3. TPLink seems to also have sudden death and infinite caching of my browsed website (cannot refresh even if i flushed dns), only works when I go onto mobile 4g network (so it is either the router or maxis).
4. Cannot use secured FTP to connect to other FTP servers, confirmed Maxis issue, no problem on mobile 4g or unifi.

The above really driving me crazy since I do freelance IT work and requires stable internet.

I need some opinion of which solution I should take, very on the budget so as cheap as possible.

Solution:
A. Replace it with a Tenda AC18 (seems recommended by most here, cheap oso, 278 on lazada)
B. Upgrade the plan to 100mbps, get new router from Maxis (but dunno what router, Astro support couldn't tell me)
C. Try fixing the TPLink router, then I need help on this, tried like everything to make it work but seems more worst than the Thompson router.
D. F*** it and move back to TM. But my astro would go back to satellite receiver.
E. Complain to MCMC about how sux the service is provided.

Is anyone facing the same issue as I am?

It is known Wifi router bugs by Maxis, as at now, there isnt fix and only playaround changes are to disable ipv6, dhcp time, can you accept this delivery service to you?

Maxis has rejected my cancellation and request for rm500 penalty, they do not agree for this error

Pick A. I personally don't have experience with tenda but the problem is with the tplink c5v router and or firmware. Once I switched to Asus ac68u problem solved.

Agreed
Maxis fiber is good, only router not good
Before this i'm on 20mbps maxis n using cheap tplink ( but loaded with ddwrt )
With fan direct to router, i nvr reboot it unless power trip due to lightning
Far far away better than c5v
