18. This is what is mentioned behind our Maybankard Statement - Foreign Charges converted by AMEX apply a coversion factor of 2.5% to the converted amount plus 0.5% administration cost imposed by Maybank.

Hi All,

Would like to ask about this. Does this means, if I purchase a watch from an Online Watch Store that costs USD520, (using Google conversion) it will cost me MYR 1866.64, then Amex + MBB administration charges will add another 3% (MYR 1866.64 * 0.03=MYR56), bringing my total expenses for this transaction to MYR 1922.64?

last two weeks i went overseas and called CS to activate oversea spending flag.
CS added some information to me about additional charges which is 1% fixed currency conversion rate.
On top of that AMEX currency conversion rate of AT LEAST 2.5%.

Oh. Noted on that. This means that the I will have an outrageous conversion rate on top of the conversion charge (from AMEX & Maybank administration)?

That sounds.. rather steep. Then, is there any alternative that I can take or this is just to inform me in advance to be mentally and financially prepared to buy that watch?

I always buy on weekend which is 5% cashback + 2% treat points.
If you deduct out the 1% + 2.5%, it's still a positive nett.

Actually I have nearly burst the CL, that's why cleared a bit of amount to clear the CL.
Who knows it is not needed in the end. cry.gif

So, the amount that I cleared is not a negative outstanding. laugh.gif

When you pay bills, it will let you select to pay using which account. Either your savings account or credit cards, there is a drop down menu.
If AmEx is not in the list that means it cannot be paid using AmEx. So far, I have tried myself TNB and UniFi works. smile.gif

Anyone knows how 100% cashback works?

Maybank 100% Cashback Promo

If I purchased RM300 thingy online using amex exactly at 10am and within the rm25k cap... does it mean that I can get RM300 cashback?

yes and no.
yes, you are most likely to get.
no, because it still depends on how many users used it before you (25k cap).
