Hi all. I have a cat about 1 year 4 months old. The usual vaccination, dewormkng and neutering all done. No issues with the cat thus far. But I'm thinking of doing a blood test just for the usual general health check up. Any vets to recommend in KL? And how much does blood work usually costs? Thanks!

diff clinic will charge differently, even tho for the same set of test. so you better call up to ask/ check.
later i check the price i paid last year.

the normal bloodwork most clinic can do in-house.
renal, liver function have to send to lab.
fiv + felv test can do in house.

felv+fiv rm75
blood test total rm160

Thanks for the info! I'd like to do a comprehensive blood test (ie. Inclusive of renal, liver etc). Which lab did you go to? Mind recommending? smile.gif

during you spayed your cat i believe they do a blood test report before any surgery going ,you can deworm your cat once a year during vaccine if your cat mostly indoor and no raw food provided
if your cat eat can play can sleep not much major health issue can do the blood test report after 5 year old well depend on you

price usually 60 to 120 for the blood test report 40 to 50 vaccine+deworm
currently i sent my cat and dog to kepong manjalara opposite tesco close to dim sum shop and coffee shop

depends on where you live.

'atas' clinic will charge more for the same lab test.

'up n coming/ new clinic' will charge less.

Have to shop around.

Clinic/vet will send the blood sample to the lab, gribbles or pathlab.
paid rm160 last year, results shown above.

if you adopt stray cat/kitten might wana do fiv/felv test in the clinic, cost up to rm90.

these stuff can jz do @ clinic near where you live.
I saw many new vet clinics up everywhere in klang valley now compared to over 10years ago.

starve the fler, sure will makan whtever u giv .

most cat are spoilt bcos of free feeding.

put abit food, dowan eat? take away, put again next 12hours, dowan? take away.

indoor cats can't go out eat craps, sure will work.

ur budget is rc, then carnilove sounds right, same price or cheaper, grain free summore. the smell most of the time is very strong, i've just bought chiken rabbit, but haven't open yet.

totw tarak smell, compared to other brands.

diff cat reacts to diff brands, hv to remember that.

these are frm jan til present...

Hi guys , first time post.

Very good advice! just when i " susah hati " my cats wont eat their wet food.

probaly spoiled since free feeding on dry food, got some "free gift" small packet from shopee some more, so give them as treat when playing.

They on rc and whiskas before, now on carnilove and ego cat ( free feeding both brand ), also wet food 3 times a day.

Just got them less than 3 month ago, still experimenting which brand they like.

dont like : powercat , totw, pro diet , smartheart , brit and felix wet food , any pate wetfood, fancy feast.

they are around 5-6 year if not mistaken.

are you transitioning them between the food, or are you just giving them all new food every time? Cats don't like it when you just change food completely. Every time you change food, you have to take at least 5 days, or as long as the cat needs to transition.

yes, those wana change food, have to take note.
I guess most carer oredi have experience in this.
some cat will have loose stool, / cirit , if they are not used to the new food. so, dont let them suffer too long.

A little update..perhaps it's not a munchkin hybrid but not sure why her legs are so short....manage to transfer her out from KL through a transporter...healthy and playful. Anybody can identify what kinda breed? Am sure it's not pure but what mix what maybe? lol

One thing though she likes to bite and scratch so any tips to make sure they don't do that will be much appreciated. biggrin.gif

Biting and scratching are how a kitten plays and you have to teach them not to do that to you by making a high pitched sound and stop the play. Resume only when she stops.

Looks like long hair fler.

Very important to -

Train the kitten to accept handling by human, so that it will allow you to inspect n touch any part of it's body without any problem.

Eg- mandi, clip nails, touch n check the paws/celah, clean/inspect ears, check the skin, clean + brush teeth etc.

Speaking of dental health, mostly overlooked by pet owners.
Very important to start @ young age, so it will get used to teeth cleaning.
To start, use your bare index finger, to rub the side of teeth n gums, once a day, finger dip in 'treats'.
All these infos can be found online/youtube,
so i wont týpe panjang lebar here.

Recently read this sad case (local klang valley case), so please don't ignore dental health.

Looks like a calico mixed with some long haired breed.

Like what others have mentioned, biting and scratching are normal kitten behaviours. Say she bites you when you are petting her, you can raise your voice and tell her to stop it. Then continue again when she has calmed down. But you'll have to keep doing this until she has learned to accept you. Good luck!
