Hi i just adopted a stray cat, and this is my first pet.
And i just read everywhere on internet said food like whiskas, friskies etc etc selling at hypermarket will kills cat slowly, may i ask all sifus here what's the minimum budget per month for better food?
and what brand is recommended by not spending too much? thanks very much.

Im currently feeding her with prodiet mackerel flavour dry food + smartheart tuna pack 1 pack per day, will this make her sick?
*
My cat loves Blackwood as compared to Royal Canin. The price is around RM60-80 for 1.8kg iirc. Those are dry food pellets btw. I seldom feed her with wet food unless if it's snack. All the best with your first pet! icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi guys,

May i know clumping sand can flush into the toilet?
*
Not a good idea. Put it into the trash and throw it away. Get a Litter Genie - it can be convenient.

Any cat expert here? I changed cat food 3 month ago then suddenly my cat started shedding like crazy. I thought it was because of the food. Changed back but still the same. I tried hair and coat type food also no change. Her hair now not that shiny and on her back near the tail, the hair got like someone put gel on top. Bathed her weekly. Brush almost daily. Didnt change at all. Any advice? Now even after brushing, if i pet her my hand will be full of hair.

You probably need to bring your cat to vet. Maybe it is health related.

If your cat doesn't go outside, you don't need to bathe her weekly. You also shouldn't brush her daily, because that can aggravate your shedding situation.

However, at this point, please take your cat to the vet.

Just went to the vet. Haih it seems that my house got fleas. Cannot find on my cat, but there were black traces on her tongue. So vet said must be at my house. Gotta do big cleaning now. Any advise on what to do? I have DE at home but does it really works?

From my own experience, DE works but it's slow. And can be messy.

What I did to combat fleas. Buy those flea drops. Like this one for example - https://www.amazon.com/Advantage-Topical-So...72%3A2661618011

I apply to all cats, and vacuum religiously. That's it. Oh and also don't forget to buy deworming pills to eliminate tapeworm. That's what I did.

I suggest to check out Supercat's products. They even have those flea drops, but I didn't use that particular product (I used Advantage). I only use their spray and supplement.

Below is my opinion:

StarPro - not as cheap as you think, corn as first ingredient
LoveCat (= Sava ?)- low quality ingredient with added colour
Prodiet - local supermarket brand, most have added colour except kitten formula (the only better choices for this brand). Don't buy the senior formula as it contain too much corn.
Powercat - local made, no added colour, suitable with people with really low budget with many cats
Buttons & Bows - higher protein and fat contain compare to others, chicken by-product as first ingredient (not a quality ingredient, but it is still better than others).

If you have really low budget, go for Powercat.
If you have higher budget, go for buttons & bows.

If you able to shop around, there are better products out there (need to consider the availability of the brand in your area, budget and packing size).

hi guys..me n my wife just got a cat from adoption like 3days ago..the owner got too many, so we decide to take 1..9month male, white, with odd eye..currently having fungus..yesterday went to vet to vac, but doc ask to wait for him to fully recover before proceed with vac..

i personally have plenty of experience handling cat from birth till its end..but this is the 1st time adopting a 9month cat..so obviously he gonna have problems in adapting to new environment and i'm expecting no less than that..

he have no appetite for 1st whole day with me, but after the vet visit, i can see much improvement, less scared eyes, more curiosity, improving appetite(wet food) and so on..but he didn't pee or poo from the 1st day with us..

is it normal for new adopted cat?.and how long he can stay without berak?.

currently still kept him in cage..only let him out while changing/cleaning the cage for around 1hour..maybe until his fungal gone..it's my wife 1st time keeping cat with fungal, so she quite concern about the cleanliness of the house..his litter box is inside the cage with him the whole time.

guys
need some advice and tutorial
how to keep my cat off the bed

i'm living in a studio apartment, so the room quite small
plus i also live with 5 cats
but there is one major problem

my cat love to sit/walk/sleep on my bed
is not that i dont like, it just that, they tend to do it often especially after they do their business in the litter.
when jump on my bed, their feet rub on my bedsheet, so its kinda dirty.. i tried with *keep it off* spray but it doesnt work. i constantly replaced my bedsheet often because i can see their *chocolate trail* on my bedsheets..sigh

Cats clean themselves, including their paws. I'm not sure how you have "chocolate trails" on your bed.

Perhaps you need to look for something that your cats dislike and put surrounding your bed, I heard cat dislike lemongrass. Or cover your bed with plastic lol.
This might be useful for you.

That is overgrooming. Need to ask a vet about that, that is not normal.

is it normal for a cat to hang out or lying down in bathroom most of the time?

I have 8 months old Scottish Fold mix here, when we first got him I bought a pet bed for him and placed it in living room which became his favourite spot to sleep.

but starting last few months,I found him lying in our bathroom in first floor. He didn't do anything, just lying near toilet seat. This usually happen during daytime because after dinner (around 7pm) he's back to his bed again. That's his new routine now and as first time cat owner, should I be worried?
