For me yes, for HSBC, you have to ask them. They don't even recognize my 2000+ spending to qualify for 8% cash back on approved petrol stations. They said the 2000 must be spent on approved grocery shops and petrol stations only, then I qualify for 8% cash back. Spend on other things not recognized.

Collect at their branch. You nominate one that's most convenient for you.

It’s like Poslaju but no signature required, so the postman will just drop it into the mailbox

Today was the first time I redeemed 30,000 HSBC VS Points for a RM100 11Street voucher on the online catalog. It says it will be sent to me within 3 weeks.

Has anyone done this online redemption thing before? Do you mind sharing how it actually works? Will they send me vouchers in the post? And does it really take 3 weeks?

I can only answer on "how it actually works". My only time was Public Bank and it was sent via SMS. Other banks' haven't arrive yet.

so, in my scenario, I just need to enter the code in the website and it become one of those discount vouchers you normally get, with an expiration date of course. Only problem is that I can't use a discount voucher together with this cash voucher. So I end up paying like 20% more with the cash voucher than when I pay with my own money.

With 11st, I remember there's a place where all your vouchers are located. There should be a place for you to enter the code, assuming that HSBC is going to send you one. They seemed very traditional and don't trust technology that much, probably that's why they are sending the code through snailmail.

OR if you're referring to redeeming the voucher from HSBC, then, I did that with CIMB before. They sent me a physical voucher that I can use at the shop I chose. There's an expiry date. Similar to Jusco. As yours is 11st, it'll probably be some code printed on a piece of paper that you can enter in 11st.

Ah OK. Thanks for sharing.

I thought the "online redemption" was going to be much quicker (e.g. just an e-mail code, since they asked for my e-mail address).

On a related note, does anyone know what vouchers (between Zalora, 11St, Grab, Agoda, Lazada and AirAsia) are the most "worth it" to redeem then? I didn't know the 11St one couldn't be used together with discount vouchers (darn). This is the first time I've accumulated enough points for HSBC redemption.

You're welcome.

Perhaps "online redemption" means you can redeem online on their website?

The 11st is just my guess. I encountered such limitation when I did Public Bank's shoppee voucher. These sites normally allow 1 type of voucher each (1 shipping, 1 product discount/cash voucher).

Oh yeah, the other catch is, most likely, you need to spend the entire voucher in one single checkout. Meaning that (I assume you already know and $50 is not a lot, but just in case), you can buy from multiple sellers but your checkout must be >= $50.

Edit : 30,000 HSBC VS Points for a RM100 is a good deal, as what they claimed on their site. CIMB is 23500 (if I don't have a memory leak) for $50.

Their only challenge is, those 5% cashback cards earns you more with less spends.

And I was told you get a better deal if you goto the participating shops like SenHeng and redeem the points directly for goods.

Thanks for useful insights and comments! Much appreciated.

I only signed up for HSBC VS because of RM250 acquisition offer in July. Was not intending to use it, then realised it gives 5x points for online spend. Only used it for BigPay top up after exhausting all my other CB cards (PBB 5/6%, SCB 3%+, MBB 2%, HLB 1%+).... And was pleasantly surprised to manage to hit 30k points so quickly. Will continue to use it for "last resort" BP reloading if I can continue to get 5x points. RM100 for RM6,000 spend (effective 1.67%) spend is better than nothing.

you're most welcome

wahhhhh you swipe until all cash back maxed out? My friend's having a good time with his HLB 1% (Essential). His CL is very high though, as high as the experts here.

Yeah the 5x sounds real good. Didn't give much thoughts to it since I've had enough with slow pace points collection (not a big spender) and "just in case" I forget to swipe once a month and have to go through hassles begging customer support for help.

No harm to call them. I was offered RM25 rebate with 3 swap within the 45 days. Rebate will be credited to us up to 4 months. I called them early Oct 2018 to cancel before my card going to charge SST in Nov 2018.

Tell HSBC that you wanna get RM25 rebate which offer to some users. If they don't give, tell them next round you sure will cancel the card. Lol..... they will fill your query and marketing team will call you within next 5 business days.
